Hi I'm no expert but you have to eat enough to get Protein in and Vitamins etc. I can't see the harm of eating say four times. My brother is a fitness instructor in the marines. He eats four times a day. Small and often. I'd just say eat your protein first. Then veg leave carbs til last.. I could be wrong though.. Sent from my GT-S5830 using LapBandTalk

Hi there, don't lose heart the first unrestricted bit Soooo hard. I didn't eat much for the first 2 wks post surgery. I wasn't hungry so swollen.. And secondly terrified something got stuck..lol. When I progressed on to eating I did weight watchers diet roughly.. I also do the 20/20/20 rule. Use baby fork. Chew at least 20 times. Wait for count of 20 seconds before next mouthful. Never eat longer than 20 mins. I was also told nothing to drink 30 mins before or after... You'll get there. Xx Sent from my GT-S5830 using LapBandTalk

Zingythingy replied to mspenn35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 20/20/20 rule is what I use. Chew each small fork full 20 times at least. Then wait 20 seconds before the next one. Only eat for 20 mins. I also was told don't drink 30 mins before or after my meals. Finally I trade all meat for quorn..so many fewer calories. Eat protein first, then veg carbs last.. Hope that helps... Hi everyone I'm new.... Can anyone help?
Zingythingy posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just introducing myself. I'm frances (37) I live in ireland. I was banded on july 3rd/13. I started out at 350llb. I'm now at 286llb. I've just had my second fill on the 28th of last month.. I'm at 8cc of a 14cc band. I'm suffering dreadful pain sometimes when I drink or eat. Feels like my throat is vibrating and only lasts briefly... I don't want an unfill as I was starving and struggling before but am finding this pain miserable. I'd rather not eat at all.. -

Hi again, firstly thankyou to everyone that took the time to reply. I really appreciate it.. Spoke to the after care team/band fill lady. She said it was possible I needed a slight unfill..(you were right) but as I'd had 6•5 cc added to my band in a 3 wk period some tightness could be swelling. I said about the pain also she suggested buscopan or deflatine.. I'm now taking these and can eat pain free..very small amounts. Still on soft ish foods. I'll have an unfill if I havent progressed to normal food next week. Thankyou again. Xxx -
Going for my first consult tomorrow!

Yes surgery was fine.. I went home after about eight hours and went shopping with my mum. I did have alot of left shoulder pain for about 24h. There was some bruising on my tummy but I do bruise very easily.. I think the pre op diet helped. I did 3 weeks rather than 1. That made insertion of my band easier.. -

My life has improved no end since my band.. I'm 37 and was trim until my late 20's... I've lost over 60llb since july 3rd when I was banded. It is much harder than I thought. Until my second fill I was starving. But if you apply yourself it's an amazing tool... -

Hi thanks for the reply.. I have to travel to the uk for treatment/fills. So only want to go back as a last resort.. After my first fill I felt nothing at all.. I was permanently hungry, eating quite large portions etc. There were foods I couldn't eat at all but asides from that felt unbanned.. My after care team said no drinking 30 mins prior to eating or after food but I will try hot drinks as you suggested.. I don't get weighed very often it's not the scales influencing my decision... I'm scared of being constantly hungry again.. I'll persevere a few more days if things don't improve I'll have an unfill and see how I go.. Thanks
