What are your I can't wait until thoughts
Christina.Rose replied to sleeveme17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cant wait 1. To shop in the regular size section of stores 2. To not feel like everyone is staring at me and insulting me in their heads 3. To have confidence and energy to play outside/hike/swim with my kids 4. To not be afraid of not fitting on an amusement park ride or not stressing about weight distribution constantly in fear of breaking the ride 5. To feel pretty 6. To not be ashamed to work out at gym 7. To make friends and not hide from my old friends so they dont see what I turned into 8. To save money on fast food Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -
Feeling Ho Hum about surgery
Christina.Rose replied to Karazona's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is exactly how I feel! Like some switch hasn't been turned on yet. My surgery has been postponed twice because I was sick so I am looking forward to getting it over with more now though. I am also concerned because my sister keeps saying she has a bad feeling about my surgery so that adds a layer of gloom too. Idk, most people on this site seem supercharged and optimistic and I feel like it is a necessary evil to try to get my life back. Hope you get excited and happy. Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?
Christina.Rose replied to FamilyGuyNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh great. I have the lapband and what everyone's describing sounds just like how getting stuck feels and sliming with my band I hate. Are any of you band to sleeve conversions? Is it the same? Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -

I get the runny nose too.....I am banded getting a sleeve.....I also noticed that I sigh when Im getting full, I know that sounds weird but I do. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -
I had a similar problem with losing insurance post op and rarely getting into the green zone. My surgeon was TERRIBLE and now that I have been seeing a really good team (Im revising to the sleeve) I can see even more how little information and preparation I got from my previous surgeon. (Dr Milton Owens Chapman Medical center Orange, CA.....avoid like the plague) I understand your sentiment about feeling uninformed. I asked questions, but I didn't know enough to ask ALL things band related to equal the benefits from seminars and classes and interaction with a solid knowledgeable team. I got a generic print out and info where to buy shakes. That was about it. I assumed it was normal because I never even knew anyone else who had bariatric surgery. So wrong! Anyways I was banded in 2009 and paying out of pocket for fills.....one time I was so tight I couldn't swallow saliva.....and it was very difficult to keep up with them since they are so temperamental and office visits cost so much. So for years I had a dormant band and could usually eat anything (occasionally I still got stuck, but no regular restriction) I recently found out my band has slipped because I had an endoscopy for my upcoming sleeve surgery. If I had attempted to get a fill it would just be a waste of time and money because my pouch was stretched and my band was out of place. I recommend you talk to your bariatric doctor (whomever is going to be filling you) and ask about a barium swallow test to check out the placement of the band before you start getting fills again. Also, make sure you have the insurance or financial means to stay current or maintain your fills or the band wont work for long anyways. liquid diets will help you lose weight with or without surgery, but to use your band you need to know whats going on in there. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Hi Christina! Do you plan on getting the sleeve?Yes. Hopefully Feb 17th. I really wanted the band to work for me, but I had no idea how much I was going to have to do just to keep my "equipment"" functional. I feel if my stomach is sleeved, all I have to worry about is controlling what I eat and exercise. Looking forward to never wondering if my tool needs a tune up because I lost weight and am not tight anymore or having to pace twist and turn and sip pineapple juice to get a rogue piece of chicken to swallow down. AND I have insurance again so even with less Dr visits Im covered, yay! Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

I have the band and hate it. Mine has also slipped. That being said. If you do not have insurance then the band is not a good idea IMO. You must be prepared to have multiple adjustments to the band sometimes in a matter of weeks. If you are too tight or loose....not in the green zone.....you will be miserable (cant even swallow spit) or be able to eat a lot more than the intended pouch.) As a cash pay person you need lots of cash or you are screwed. Also, no matter how many years out you are, sometimes randomly you still get stuck. I dont care if you can eat a Big Mac and fries and Sundae.....you might....one weird bite and ouch, pressure, vomit. Hell. I got banded in 2009, lost 50ish pounds and lost my insurance so I couldn't maintain my band. I am not a poster child for proper use and care for the band, but I couldn't afford the maintenance and moved out of state and no new surgeon wanted some other surgeons patient (not impossible but everyone I spoke with wouldn't take me as a patient) Very frustrating, depressing, embarrassing ordeal. Especially when you tell people you are going to have surgery and years later you are still fat. The band was one of the most demoralizing mistakes I ever made. I am hoping that I will do well with the sleeve. Following protocol and STAYING ON TOP OF YOUR FILLS is absolutely mandatory for success with the band. You REALLY need to focus so much on your follow up care. The band is a rubber noodle if it isnt properly tightened for restriction. And the restriction you get can fluctuate from stress, your period, time of day....so many variables. To me it is not worth it but I am bitter from my own misery. I wasn't thrilled about chopping off my stomach either, but it will be up to me alone to use the tool now, not if I can make it to a $200 10minute office visit. Good luck! How slow or different is Revision weight loss?
Christina.Rose posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I keep seeing people say lapband to sleeve revision patients lose weight slower than just sleevers. Im getting revised in December. Some questions I have for those people are 1.) Did you gain most or all of your band weight back before sleeve surgery 2.) How long did you stay significantly overweight before you decided on the sleeve 3.) How much did you lose on your pre op for the sleeve 4.) How much have you lost now and what month are you post op? Thanks in advance for filling out my questionnaire, lol. Here are the default answers I have seen on this site, kind of like the "best of hair loss question answer" list. 1. Hair loss typically starts month three 2. Increase your Protein and take Biotin 3. Be gentle with your hair, wash as needed minimally 4. Rogaine works but you have to keep using it 5. Nioxin is another option 6. Allegedly hair does grow back but your body is in shock from surgery and a level of malnutrition 7. Short hair cuts look fuller than long thin hair 8. Make sure you get all required Vitamins daily Thats what I can remember off hand. Oh, also "its worth it" is usually tacked on the hair comments somewhere. Good luck! Why sleeve with DS?
Christina.Rose replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oooohhhh......I see. Its like a sleeve with the re routing. The bypass is a pouch with different re routing. I have researched the hell out of the sleeve but none of the others. I think I rather stick with the sleeve and have an opportunity for revisions in the future. Thanks for the video it was helpful! Thanks for the responses. Im just now trying to get in some last minute option information since my sleeve was postponed until February now. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -

Why do so many people like "my 600 pound life" ?
Christina.Rose replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I kind of do research by watching it. Also I find similarities between my life and some of theirs. I also feel good when they succeed and it makes me hopeful because I am not as big as them and feel like I can do it if they can. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App -
Complications from advancing diet too soon
Christina.Rose replied to Frenchie1977's topic in Rants & Raves
It is weird how there is no set plan that goes across the board. I didn't have any 6month supervised diet for my lapband or my upcoming sleeve....btw Dr Milton Owens in Orange CA is terrible and you will learn more on this site than from his awful team.......I have had a ton of classes and different doctor appointments with my new team pre-op. It is all over the place. I would like it if there was a standard operating procedure, but everyone's different. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App
