SSRI induced gain, wish me luck

Ok, I am taking Zoloft because my other medication was dangerous for my pregnancy. I am weaning my daughter from nursing now and ready to take any medicine required. Now, I am freaking out about reading that Zoloft causes weight gain. Is it that it makes you eat more or store more of what your eating?? I also have PCOS, not that it is really specific to Zoloft questions but I saw another poster that was really similar to my situation.

    Non sugar dumping syndrome?

I would like to try the avocado mayonnaise. I will wait until next week to try any mayo again though. The sweaty, uncomfortable bathroom trips were enough to scare me pretty good lol. I did make it myself and REALLY dislike Miracle Whip, but if I had used it that would make a lot of sense! Thanks for the feedback everyone.

    TMI SORRY

I was told its not technically constipation until you hit 5 days.....however really make sure you get your liquids in, obviously. Benefiber and Metamucil were what my doctor recommended when I was concerned.

    Taking meds after surgery

After my surgery I was told not to take any nonessential medicine for 2 weeks and then grind up the tablets and empty out the gel capsules and take with applesauce or a drink. I was also told not even to bother taking Vitamins for the first 2 weeks. I have to grind meds for 1month and break them up after that until Im on solid foods. Hope this helps!

    What to expect after surgery

I had pain the 1st day but it tapered off fast. The best tip I can give is be HYDRATED. Drink as much water as you can until you aren't allowed to drink or eat....probably midnight. My mouth was sooooo dry from drugs. Bring lip balm and a comfy pillow. Ask for ice chips asap. Good luck!

6 days post op and craving meat

Im glad it was useful. Its just my opinion, but I was so scared that I was the only hungry sleever out there until some soft foods filled me up! Yay!

    Let's celebrate small victories!👍👍

If you have tried water aerobics they are excellent for you and little to no impact on joints. Even just using a kickboard is really good....of course I don't know your physical limitations the way you do, but I really liked doing water workouts.

    Having concerns???

Ok, the hiatal hernia is bcause the weight of the stomach area stretched the muscle that is around your esophagus near where it meets with the stomach. Imagine a hose attached to a balloon going through an uncooked bagel....stay with me here....if you pull the hose, the balloon is supposed to stop....if you have a hiatal hernia, the bagel is stretched so part of the balloon (stomach) pokes up through it. Now considering that the sleeve shapes your stomach like a banana, if that opening is stretched then a lot more stomach can shift up through there. Its not really age its more size and wether or not your "bagel" is stretched open or not. I hope I didn't sound too insane. Btw, I had a hiatal hernia repair on the same day as my sleeve and I hardly ever had pain or discomfort. Im 2 weeks+ out from a revision from the lapband to sleeve. As far as other hernias go, there's multiple reasons for them but age still doesn't save you. I was 21, in shape in the Army and got a hernia in my lower abdomen. Just happens.

6 days post op and craving meat

That's exactly how I felt on liquids. Everyone's said its head hunger.....I disagree. When I recently started my puree phase the hunger for the most part stops for a really long time after a tiny portion of approved whatever. My 2 cents are that we feel hungry on the liquid phase because we ARE but the liquids pass through our stomachs so fast we never get full enough for relief. Maybe head hunger happens when we actually eat food and still crave, but in my experience the first 2 weeks it is hunger. Stay strong! It is WAY BETTER on the puree phase!

    Why no iceberg lettuce?

Not saying anything about stomach space or protein but iceberg lettuce has little nutrition. Romaine lettuce is a good salad lettuce and has a lot more nutrients. Of course Kale and spinach is better, but for salad, I like Romaine.....all of course when your allowed to eat raw veggies obviously.

    84 pounds down and counting!

Lost a lot in your stomach area! You look happy and confident. Great job!
  14. Im just getting started dropping weight 15 days out, but my size 26 jeans are huge on me and I can now squeeze into size 20 (even though they are kind of stretchy jeans)

Revision done at the same time

I had the band removal (I was banded 2009), hiatal hernia repair and got sleeved the same day. So far so good! Easy recovery and on my 14th day. Its not the bypass but it was more than one issue taken care of. Hope this helps!

    Non sugar dumping syndrome?

Lol...thanks. So far Im dumping on tunasalad and eggsalad. Which sucks because I was really looking forward to eating them in puree phase. Actually 90% of my ideas for puree phase had to do with mayonnaise so now Im going to rethink my gameplan. Ugh. I didn't think about eating and drinking at the same time causing it so thanks for the heads up. I only thought of it in terms of feeling full. Oh God Yes.....some day there will be a f*#k it cheesecake day.....just not until I dont look like a cheesecake eater, lol.

    Please allow me to vent.......

Im not close to goal yet, but I do fear what I will end up looking like. I assume my stomach is screwed but I am stressed about arms and thighs. What struck me about your post is the start weight and goal weight are within pounds of mine. I agree there should be some plastic....something.....included in the process. One "cute shirt" idea.....shoulder exposing shirts are popular now. They still have the sleeve bottom but look fun.

    Weight Loss Challenges

Check out the rules first....maybe an anonymous call in.....but I don't think its cheating. You are going to go through a hell of a lot of pain and suffering to compensate for other people having access to a whole stomach to fill. Do what you think is Ok.

    ??

    Also, ask your doctor! [emoji6]

    ??

Some people are allowed to have pureed food after only a couple of days so its probably Ok. But I know lots of people have issues with eggs in general so be very aware of what your stomach is telling you.

    What to eat

I could and did. I added a scoop of flavoreless protein powder and then froze it. YUM

How many fills until you felt restriction

Ok, I just got revised to a sleeve and had my band since 2009. Im not going to be a Debbie Downer on the band though. There is no set time to get restriction. Sometimes the fill works, sometimes it doesn't. You might need another adjustment. Also, things like time of day, "time of the month", and stress levels all affect the "tightness" of the band. Also don't be confused by restriction meaning discomfort. If you are full faster, its working. If you "feel" the band you probably ate a bite that was too big or too fast.

    Genepro Safe???

Ok, I heard about GENEPRO from this site. I have been using it post op but not long enough to have a real opinion on how good it is (even though it is pretty good dissolving into anything and tasteless) BUT I have been seeing posts saying it is not actually the amount of protein it claims. Besides that, has anyone ever heard or have any actual evidence that it is unsafe or dangerous to use? I appreciate any fact based information (not really interested in information about the amount of protein being misrepresented although I understand that is not ideal for people counting protein grams) Thank you!
