Please, Respect Your Bands
Christina.Rose replied to HotButterFly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How much PBing is a normal range? Per month lets say? -
Lol, I just imagined like in Alice in Wonderland....Eat me if you want to grow!
-
It's only a pound, you know what the cause was, you have the control. You can and will make it right! My kid has been ordered to hide his stash. Sometimes I feel like a junkie and want to hunt it down, but refrain. Everyone screws up, you got this.

Shrinking Airlines Seats
Christina.Rose replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lived in fear of the seatbelt extender with my last job that traveled frequently. It was so difficult to buckle my own seatbelt, uncomfortable, and a real workout to SEE the buckle a snap it. I never had the extender but was paranoid some attendant would bring one to me in all my shame. Never again! I will not fly until I can snap it and pull the extra tight. Also theatre seats are a bit of a challenge if I don't lift an arm rest....but its dark in there. -
Maybe look up chronic conditions that have frequent bruising associated with them. Then you have a "conversation starter" for Dr. to check or immediately dismiss.

Also 90% of the time, when I try to get to the last page of postings, like 3out of3 or 5 out of 5, it says error, this page does not exist. ???? I can rarely find the post I write after I wrote it too. I write it send it and it disappears.

There's a recipe from the HCG diet for a chocolate type thing. You mix coconut oil with cocoa, and vanilla extract with liquid sweetner.....stevia or trivia I believe, and you mix it, pour it on a cookie sheet, put it in freezer and Whala! It tastes like very dark chocolate. I don't like dark chocolate so not for me, but check out an HCG website. They live on it, lol

Chocooooolaaaaate!!!!! I had my son hide his Halloween candy. The day after Halloween I ate two handfuls for breakfast. Not sugar free....the bad good stuff. Being fat, banded, at Halloween on your period is just not right! And this is like my second week being on my period (PCOS...ugh dont ask) blah blah vent, done. : D

My boyfriend knows, but can't go on it....he does NOT need to know I weigh more than him.....he can just think it.....silently, lol

Band food compared to sleeve food
Christina.Rose replied to steveelea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a band, no sleeve, but had thought about revising to a sleeve. My reasoning was due to the fact that I was banded in 2009 and lost 47 pounds BUT didn't have any follow up care or fills (I moved out of state and no one wanted to touch some other surgeons work....in my case) so I gained it back. I was angry at my band so in 2013 I wanted a sleeve. I then moved back to California and before I went all gung ho sleeve, I decided to at least TRY to get some fills and see how it went. After all, I never really put my band to work or really committed to my own hard work to meet my band requirements to achieve results. I finally am losing weight....30 pounds in around 3 months now....and feel like I finally unleashed my secret weapon against fat! Lol. I suggest you make every attempt to utilize the band first ( if you are not having seriously sh*tty complications that some banders get) because you already had a surgery and traumatic experience on your body. All I am saying from my experience, is it isn't too late to restart. Good luck! Don't let defeating thoughts ruin your chances. -
Is nutrisystem band friendly
Christina.Rose replied to I love lucy lover's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Ok, when I was on Nutrisystem I remember it being very high in carbohydrates. I also hated the taste of most of the food because it reminded me of MRE's in the field...or like canned processed food in bags. To be honest, I liked the taste of Jenny Craig food better, but it is processed and pricey. I lost weight with both but was miserable on Nutrisystem because I HATED the food. If you do decide to get pre-made food, may I suggest South Beach frozen meals? They are basically lean cuisines without the pasta or rice or potatoes so the carbs are better for you. It's important to up the protein and lower carbs with any WLS so I really don't think Nutrisystem would be good. Lots of cereals, and chip type stuff.....besides the yucky entree's. -

What the hell? I hope I'm not the "taco girl" I had some Doritos about a MONTH after surgery and was afraid I may have torn something because they were not "mushy" and my DR was a d**k. I just started using this site and don't appreciate the bitchy bullshit being posted on this thread. I think unless you are a bariatric surgeon, you are/were just fat like the rest of us and we ALL NEED HELP and advice and support. -
Looking For Good Surgeon In Southern California -- Recommendations To Use/avoid Please
Christina.Rose replied to Kristen E's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Please avoid Milton Owens in Orange CA. He is beyond rude and tries to milk your every last penny. Also 99% of his advice to me had been drink protein shakes instead of eating an ill lose weight. No freaking duh!? I know that's told to everyone, but he never went over any meal or exercise plans or weight goals or ANYTHING. I was just fat girl #xyz to him, and he doesn't remember you ever! Some more details on my experience with him are in my previous post. I got him through Tricare, which is why I wanted to specifically warn you. Good luck. -
Sometimes I'm ok, sometimes not. Once I got horribly stuck on Motrin and felt like I was dying.....fun. How do you take a crushed pill? In a shot glass with juice? I'm seriously curious.

I have trouble in the morning too, but I just sip tea or coffee as was recommended to me, and it helps. I also don't eat until after my workout now so I think all my "organs" are limber and ready for food by then, lol. I can eat lunch and dinner fine following most rules though. It's no biggie for me to hold off a couple hours for breakfast. If you CAN eat solids later on you may be ok?

Poll: Do you let Food sit in your esophagus? Or wash it down with liquids?
Christina.Rose replied to NaNa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. Angry people! My surgeon, Dr Milton Owens was scum and if anyone posted negative things about him I would emphatically agree, so there ARE a**hole bad surgeons out there. I think NaNa is just trying to raise our awareness on different perspectives from different professionals and let us do as we may with the information. Lapband surgery has been around a long time, but not forever. That's why 4cc bands were basically pulled due to ineffectiveness and safety issues. Things change, information is upgraded and outdated sometimes. I cant eat without little sips occasionally, I have tried but just can't, but since I started getting fills I am still full (when I.have a good fill) Anyways, it just looks like NaNa got jumped on like a starved man on a Christmas ham, lol. I think I understand that she wasn't telling us to ignore our doctors, but to be informed. Just my thoughts. -
I take Spironalactone, Metformin, and Desogen birth control. I thought it wasn't really working.so I quit.for a month and promptly turned into a Chia pet (PCOS hairiness, blah!) I'm praying I can even my hormones out too. Combined with my medication and weight loss, someday I hope to be human again.....ugh

pre work out meal suggestions ???first time puking during a work out :(
Christina.Rose replied to readysetg070113's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think you may have overexerted yourself. In the Army I used to run until I threw up all the time. Nowadays vomit can wreck my band and really injure us, so be careful. I used to throw up with or without breakfast, but to play it safe I'd stay clear of food until 30ish minutes after work outs. That's when our body needs that protein to help with work out recovery. -
On day 6 of 30 day ab challenge. Proud but still scared of upcoming reps! And it my TOM, so I am forcing myself to be dedicated right now! My stomach feels like a punching bag, lol.
-
Oh, btw, I was banded in 2009 and in 2013 restarted at MY preband weight. I have started getting fills and working out and have lost 30 pounds so far. Just forget regret and live in the now!
