    I'm too Fat

I was told I couldn't participate in the VA pain management program because I weighed too much. It really sucks and is embarrassing. I feel for you! Good luck. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thanks for the details! I want so badly to be in "onederland". I only lost about 50% of my extra weight in 2009 from my band and gained that and more back.....currently 277.....I am stressing about cutting my stomach "off" and not being able to lose quickly.....well, it will be better than now, I know, but Im nervous! Dec 16th is coming up fast! Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

I hated getting fills that didn't work at all and then going back in and getting overfilled and not being able to even swallow spit searching for my mythological green zone. I hated eating a too big bite or a bite too much and immediately vomiting. I hated The pressure and pain of getting stuck. I HATED GETTING USELESS REPETITIOUS FILLS.....I am getting sleeved in December and my band has slipped. I also had to move out of state for a job soon after I was banded and could not find a doctor who would take "someone else's" patient so I feel like even though I lost about 50lbs (that I gained back) with the band, that I never got the full benefits from it. Years later I started getting the fills again and I cant stand the lack of precision for finding the green zone. I am fed up. Good luck for your journey! I recommend REALLY staying on top of those fills. They suck but if you have to get that green zone or you are wasting your time and energy. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

So THIS is why my back hurts!

Omg! You are freaking awesome. I am sorry for the whole medical condition, but you are really putting a hilarious spin on it. I don't really know how to respond, I just thought I'd share that you and your little HoND cartoon made me actually lol. Thanks again for smile and good luck with finding some pain relief. 7. Ok, I definitely want my December 16th sleeve surgery, first and foremost.....but.....I don't feel really happy or excited or even motivated about it very much. I am taking medication for depression, so I know that is a factor, but shouldnt I be pumped up and ready to conquer the world? I have a slipped band and feel like a failure and I keep focusing on missing holiday foods and being miserable or not succeeding more than I feel potential for the future. Did anyone else feel this way this close to the date and what if anything made you motivated. I am so upset about being upset. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Not as excited as I think I should be?

Im glad to hear Im having "normal" feelings and not alone! I just read all these amazing stories of struggle and success and thought fireworks should be going off by now for me. I hope when I start my pre op diet in December it will feel more real. Thanks everyone for the support. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

    Dating!

2 weeks doesn't really seem like an exclusive relationship. If it really bothers you say something, but you risk losing him if he thinks you are getting too clingy too fast. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

    Beginning

You could choke on your own vomit while under sedation. Its REALLY not good to eat before any surgery. Its not about calories or carbs. Its dangerous! Be safe! Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

    Exercise regimen before surgery

I am scheduled for a sleeve revision from the band December 16th. Yay! My question is, will it be easier for me to start an exercise plan before my surgery or will it not matter because I cant exercise for a while after anyways.....yes I know all exercise is healthy, but what can you still even do post op....and when? NSV!

I can cross my legs like a lady! No more ankle to knee lumberjack crossing here! Knee to knee dainty crossed legs. Btw, that means my thighs are small enough now to fit together! Silly NSV but made me feel good. : )
  16. Apple and the blue one .....I think Crystal sky are DISGUSTING. I almost vomited drinking Apple last night. Strawberry mousse is decent and cookies and cream is pretty good. Fuzzy naval is OK but doesn't really have a very peachy taste....more like watered down Orange juice???? I ordered mine online after reading a recommendation on this site.....Everyone seems to have different preferences.

    hCG and Lap Band?

I know for a fact the HCG protocol works. I have used it in between green zones. Two acquaintances also did it and lost about 100 pounds in a year+ However I don't know how menopause would effect the HCG plan because of the hormone aspect? And to be perfectly honest I don't really know the long term ramifications of a 500 calorie diet. I think it's the diet that works not so much the HCG.....but whatever, it does work. Just to let you know.....one of the acquaintances kept it off the other one gained most all of it back in about 2 years. Lifestyle change.
  18. I have been struggling since I got overfilled and subsequently had to have an unfill. Since that incident I have had three fills and have not been in the green zone since. Im so afraid of being overfilled again that I don't want to ask for more fluid when the Dr is putting it in now. My confidence is shattered and my weightloss is screwed. How can you tell if you have enough (or not) in the office when you are actually getting filled? I never have problems chugging that water bottle but WHAT should I be experiencing to let me know for sure??? Help!

    Wedding dress size questions

I'm trying to get an estimate for how much weight I might have to lose to go to a size 16 from a size 20. My wedding dress alterations appointment is September 18. I am 5'6" 239 lbs at the moment. I am going in for a fill Aug 6 but have been trying to eat healthier already. My band hasn't really been much help since I had to have an unfill months ago. All of my fills after don't seem to do anything anymore. Anyways, I thought maybe some veterans who may have been in my shoes may have some input or personal experience that might help me out. I do know body composition is a factor.....I think I'm an apple shape.....but any guidance or realistic estimates would really help me. Thanks in advance.
  20. Thanks for the responses. I have to pay $185 per fill so it's really hard and expensive for the trial and error fills. Usually she puts it in laying down and I stand to drink. As far as the chugging, she has me sip and then chug it. It always goes down fine.....even the time I was overfilled and couldn't swallow saliva for 48 hours until I could get back to the office. I just wish there was a little bell that would ring or something.....I have slightly diminished hope for my upcoming fill but at least for a while (around a week) I know I will be "full" or swollen or whatever word is appropriate.
  21. I am 238 re-re-started.... : ( ......at 250. Curious to know how much weight I lose at first will only be water weight? Is there some formula or method of knowing what is at least close to how much you lose that is water weight? Or a basic time frame for how long the loss will be water weight?

    A Long and Winding Road

We have similar stories. I started at 267 lost 47 pounds then moved and had no Lapband ANYTHING for years. I am currently in the "Qwest for Green" zone predicament since an unfill. But I have been upping protein and cutting carbs AND am getting another fill in a couple of days and have had about 12 pounds lost so far on my own......Grrrr, I really want the band to start working for me again....but I know what it feels like to take matters into your own hands as well as saying F* it. Stay strong and keep it up!

    Wedding dress size questions

Thank you all for the pointers! I read somewhere that plus sizes are harder to go down in than smaller ones. Like a two inch size difference instead of a one inch size difference.....blah! I am "guesstimating" 30-40 pounds at the moment to get to a 16 ish from a 20....lol. The sizes for my dress go 16,18,20,22 etc. I think that's common? Please don't stop sending me info! It's really insightful! Ok

VENT: A 5 year old made me want to cry.

My 7 year old step daughter was hugging me and said "Hold on, wait a second....I want to see if I can reach my arms around you.....nope! I just can't reach" .........Kill me please! Ugh. Especially since her mom lost about 100 lbs in the last 2 years. I already feel some twisted competition being mom #2 but being the fat mom who can't properly be hugged as well. Sigh. I feel for you. You handled yourself just fine though. I hope you can just focus on the great progress you have already made and let that motivate you forward.

Nobody recognizes me. Starting to get old...

I am in a reverse situation. I have not lost my weight yet but moved back to my hometown from high school. I was a size 6-8 all of my teen and young adult life up until about 7 years ago when I began gaining weight rapidly and now am 100 lbs give or take overweight. I was diagnosed with PCOS among other things but that's for a different post. I live in actual fear of running into people I know. I DON'T want them to remotely recognize me. If I see someone I used to know I don't care where I am I will LEAVE the store/hide in a bathroom etc. I sometimes hope im SOOOOOO fat that they won't be able to know if it's me. Ugh. Hopefully you will feel better in your new body soon and the people making you uncomfortable will realize that how great you look now doesn't have to be a verbal comparison to your past but simply a compliment! Best wishes
