Newton's First Law of Obesity
HealthyNewMe replied to Sara Kelly Keenan LC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I found (for ME) that a habit takes more than a few weeks to develop. For ME, it takes several MONTHS. But, that's okay...... I now consider 17 months of going to the gym six days a week..... a lifestyle change. -
Water, a packet of Truvia and fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice........ throughout the whole day!

It's a great anniversary....... to celebrate a life changing day! -
I've lost 140 pounds + husband's lost 60 pounds = revived sex lives. I don't know if hormonal changes are added to this equation, but whatever it is....... thank GOD! We've been married 26 years, raised/raising four kids and we unfortunately put ourselves on the back burner for far too long. Not anymore.......... Revived energy from exercising, sooooo much less body fat, and more time on our hands....... YIPPEE!

Weight Loss Surgery Success Tip F: Forgiveness
HealthyNewMe replied to Dr. Duc Vuong's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Mark Twain, Nelson Mandela, and Dr. Duc Vuong are all very insightful people. How often I have carried resentment around with me......like a weighted chain. It was definitely MY BURDEN and no one else's. I often release resentment by writing a letter to the one I have had negative feelings for. Never mailed, but released from my mind. Thanks for your ABC's of Weight Loss Surgury Success. -
I bet the number one regret you will read will be........ I regret not having done this YEARS AGO!!!!!!! You are just a few days out..... no need for regrets......

Symptoms no one told me
HealthyNewMe replied to oui1213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had headaches getting off of SUGAR. Glad you're feeling better and BEST WISHES as you move forward. -
I limit REFINED carbohydrates. I partake in them occasionally, but only occasionally. When I know my downfall (or drug of choice) after 50+ years, and I keep it around my house, I am only setting myself up for failure. If I eat a refined carbohydrate out at a party or restaurant, I know I can't spiral into a CARB COMA bc I don't have it in the house...... at all!

Hope one day, you will see your forward progress for what it is....... YOUR JOURNEY..... NO ONE ELSE's, but YOURS! Best wishes as you continue to reclaim your health, at whatever pace it happens. Just my opinion........ EXERCISE will help this happen faster and GIVE YOU MORE ENERGY!!!!! -

I did it! I got to "goal"!
HealthyNewMe replied to PuraVida37's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love your FITNESS GOALS...... I always wanted to be a "runner." Problem is I can't seem to run...... I look like a DUCK...... But, I'm an ELLIPTICAL guru.......So, I modified my fitness goal to complete a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon on the elliptical. Not the same, but still an achievement. Best wishes as you continue to reach YOUR GOALS! -
Headed NORTH again in November......but, to see the oldest daughter in BALTIMORE. We might make a day trip to NYC. I'll let you know.

8.8 pounds a month is great weight loss....... Don't kid yourself or feel bad about "slow" progress. That's GREAT progress. Like I always say.... I added on an average of 5 to 6 pounds a YEAR for 25 YEARS....... I'm thrilled to lose 5 to 6 pounds a MONTH over 2 to 3 YEARS........ even with an occasional stall!
-
Well, it seems like you two have a lot in common even before you get to know him any better!!!!!!! And even though you are 100% correct on the steps forward and backward......... the trend is FORWARD PROGRESS....... Enjoy the FALL in NEW YORK! Tammie

Slow losers, how do you stay motivated?
HealthyNewMe replied to futureformerfattie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon's expectations were 1 to 2 pounds per week. Most months, I lost between 3 to 9 pounds. One month, I hit a complete stall........ We WANT a fast weight loss, but the way I see it...... I put on 5 to 6 pounds a YEAR over 25 years........I should be THRILLED to take off 5 to 6 pounds a MONTH !!!!!!!! In my humble opinion, you are doing G R E A T !!!!!!!! -

What happened between the weight loss and now? Did you stop seeing your doctor? Did you get your band unfilled? Did you start eating sliders? What do you think happened?
