Signs that you're full. How does your body tell you it's enough?
HealthyNewMe replied to desertpixie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really do have a SIGN..... I hiccup several times...during each and every meal. Then, not one more bite for ME. My family thinks it's funny! -
B52 So glad to read this..... I too had soooo much additional weight that I couldn't even consider jogging. I started off on the bike seven months ago (bc I didn't have to carry my own weight). Eventually moved on to elliptical ...now I'm up to 60 minutes , 6.2-6.3 miles, 6 days/week . But I really want to start jogging...... You can't elliptical a 5K or a 10K...... And I want to experience these things. I think I'm going to have to try starting at our neighborhood walking/running/biking path because I LOOK LIKE A DUCK trying this on the treadmill. Anyway, that's my new fitness goal..... TO RUN!!!!

21 pounds in eight weeks..... I'd take that kind of weight loss any day!!!!! That's 2.7 pounds per week..... Better than the average one to two they tell you might have. -
I need support! please!

This worked for ME.... Drinking a whole heck of a lot of water (I like it with lemon and stevia) and drinking a lot of coffee (sometimes w/ SF hot chocolate to make mocha). Somehow, it helped me ward off feeling hunger pains. Until I got in the GREEN (which just happened and I'm 5 months banded), I just had to sometimes white knuckle DIET!!!!! -
Sample menus needed please for a week!

Fourth fill did it for ME.... NOW I know what everybody was talking about! I've had the long periods of time between meals, but now I'm finally satisfied (FULL) on such a SMALL amount of food. LET THE LOSING BEGIN!!!!!! -

This is how I understand it.... How many times a day do you eat? 2 to 3 How long do you go between meals? 5 to 6 hrs Size of meal: Small / half a plate filled with Protein and then vegetable How long does it take you to eat a meal? 15-30 minutes When do you stop eating? When satisfied (not FULL) Do you regurgitate/vomit? Rarely, if ever, and only when gulping down food and not eating small bites and chewing properly Do you have night coughs? Never These questions come from a chart published on this website as well as at my doctor's office. But, to be honest, after reading all of these things for months, I just KNEW after this last fill. The portion size for me was the last piece of the puzzle to being GREEN! -

I had that fill one week ago today (1/13). Of course, the first day was liquids and the day after was mushies. So I didn't eat a regular meal until Wednesday. I was surprised how little I ate, but sort of skeptical. Every day since then has been the same. For example, I ate HALF of a "half size" Wendy's Baja salad. Went out with my husband and ate half of a side salad, four bites of a ribeye, and three bites of a baked sweet potato...... Felt Thsnksgiving Day Full. Did not feel this full within the week of getting my first three fills. I could go for a long time w/out getting hungry, but I knew I was eating larger portions than a "green zone" person should be eating. Best of luck to you too! -
Hello. Taking off the weight should definitely help with the back issues..... I know it is helping me with the joint pains I used to have in my ankles and knees. Exercising and stretching has also made all the difference in the world as well. I can't help you too much with your food concerns bc I didn't have the sleeve surgery, so I am not familiar with the protocol for that surgery. I do know that all the surgeries require us to have most of our food nourishment in the form of protein. To get that much protein in, I had to add liquid protein shakes as one of my meals. Best of luck to you.

I, too, like Premier Protein from SAMs club.

Why does excess weight make you look older?
HealthyNewMe replied to Lady VS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always hear, "You look 10 years younger." I myself don't see that, yet I see it in others who have lost a significant amout of weight.......Goofy brain and even goofier self image! -
I gave up diet soda over a year before I had the band. Now, I basically drink tea or water with lemon and stevia. I feel so much better. Glad I was able to give up this manufactured artificial drink.

Ohhhh so THAT'S what that feels like!

Although technically I can eat fruits..... I personally have a hard time with oranges, tangerines, & grapes.... BC of the skin surrounding the sections..... -
I hope to one day get to the point that I don't always think about calories in and calories burned, but for now, I'm still watching and learning. Here's my question..... Which one of the readouts would you think is the most accurate for a one hour (6.2mi) elliptical workout: 1. MyFitnessPal ( which I believe totally OVER estimates calorie expenditure) 2. Readout on elliptical, once you add in your current weight 3. FitBit readout (which I haven't bought yet) Just curious to read different opinions......

only lost a pound and stalls...

Wow.....wow.....wow. Two years ago on a family vacation in Chicago, we visited a museum that had a similar display. They also showed a cross section of a muscular thigh and a FAT thigh. I remember what an impact that picture and that display had on me. It was really one of a few catalyst that slapped me across the face to TAKE CHARGE OF MY LIFE, MY HEALTH, and MY FUTURE! -
Lap Band doesn't change the fact I am an emotional eater.
HealthyNewMe replied to BandedCandace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm old school on breakups,,,,,, probably bc I'm old. If it were me, I'd work my butt off in that gym EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'd work my band like a Rock Star.... REVENGE, in the form of "See what you missed out on" would be my mantra. Breakups are a Bummer (you know I want to say B----), I've been there for two daughters through theirs and I went through one or two of my own. Like Gloria Gaynor sings, "I WILL SURVIVE." and so will YOU. Best of Luck! -
Today.... 3 cups of coffee omelet with 2 eggs, egg whites, 1/4 c shredded cheddar, I slice diced turkey pastrami Protein bar 2 cups of homemade vegetable/beef soup 64 oz of Water

Drinking - why and why not?
HealthyNewMe replied to ccjll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the reason was the second reason you mentioned...... To not have the food slip too easily through the band before getting the full signal. A very hard habit for me to break. I'm definitely "a work in progress!"
