How true, CATFISH !!!!!! But, until the last eight months, I wasn't taking care of the 20%. And the band has really helped me cut down on the 80%. -
February Challenge-Happy Valentine's Day!
HealthyNewMe replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Checking in on February challenge: weight on 2/10 was 223. This put me over the 100+ pound loss. Saw the movie "Labor Day" before Valentine's date night. Thought it was two thumbs down ..... Just my own opinion. -

The secret of your success is found in your daily routines. -
Just asking.... Have you vamped up the exercise? Or switched the exercise routines? I was told that your body gets used to a routine, so do things a little differently while exercising..... You know... MIX IT UP. Sometimes that reboots the weight loss.

POSE ( Primary Obesity Surgery Endoluminol)
HealthyNewMe replied to HealthyNewMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I don't think it's replacing the band. I think it's just another WLS option.... From my understanding.... It will be used on people with lower BMI's, with 25 to 70 pounds to lose. I could be wrong about what little I know, but I have two friends that will be looking into it! -
POSE (Primary Obesity Surgery Endolumenal)

Stomach tissue is pinched in specific, pre-defined areas, primarily the fundus area, and then sutured to make the stomach smaller. I only know the little info that they were telling me about today when I went in for my monthly check-up. I'm a lap- bander. -
Liquid diet before surgery
HealthyNewMe replied to DELILLIEFLOWER's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I like pickle juice too. You know you are going to read from each poster to CALL YOUR DOCTOR, There are health benefits to drinking pickle juice and it appears to be a "clear liquid." But, it can affect your blood pressure and kidney function (according to what I just googled---- LOL). -
The holy grail of the scale

I started referring to myself as a SCALE JUNKIE. I am FREE of the scale obsession..... Very liberating! -
The holy grail of the scale
HealthyNewMe replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, you already know my philosophy on daily weigh-ins...... I'm one of the people that CAN'T handle seeing and dealing with those daily fluctuations. So, I got rid of the scale and only weigh at my doctor's office once a month. I have lost weight EVERY SINGLE MONTH.... I don't have to deal with the +1.2, -0.3, -1.1, +0.4. It was driving me crazy!!!! Or as my kids would say, "Crazier than you already are." Good Post. -

B 52...... How many times have I heard about the benefits of exercising, and how if you hang in there long enough in the beginning when you are actually dreading the MERE THOUGHT OF EXERCISING, that your life can turn around? How many times???? My husband and I joined a gym eight months ago (the fourth time I think) and I actually spent hours dreading when he would say,"Let's go to the gym." Dreaded going those first six weeks.... Then, as you know, things started to change.... Mobility, Strength, Flexibility, Endurance!!!!! Now, we both exercise 6-7 days/week. I HAVE TO GO..... My body needs for me to go. As a side note, my husband is now 50 pounds lighter and has become a runner!!!!

That line.... Who are you not to be???? Hit me to the core.... I can be talented, healthier, even pretty? I haven't allowed myself to feel pretty for years. I find that now that my face has slimmed down.... I want to wear makeup. I want pretty earrings....I want a new hairstyle. Thanks fellow "Quote Collector." -

Sounds like you're eating a very small quantity of food. What about exercising? I found that daily exercise has revamped my metabolism. I don't know..... Just a thought.

I eat a whole banana with crunchy peanut butter spread on it. I freeze bananas as well and use them in my Ninja blender with my protein shake!

Loving the new normal
HealthyNewMe replied to gowalking's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love NORMAL too. I always told my sister, who has always been a normal weight and size, that I couldn't wait to be NORMAL too. I couldn't give her enough examples of the things she takes for granted that I am just now experiencing. Yeah for NORMALCY ! -
That's funny.... I actually have the opposite feeling.....I feel a lot of restriction within the first week (I actually thought I was in the GREEN with my last fill), but a week out, I didn't feel the restriction as much. Going for my fifth (and maybe final) fill tomorrow. Hope you stay with that restriction feeling!

Bandista, this post just made me smile.... I'm so happy for you..... You have come a longggg way!

I think it's great that you are reading, researching, asking, and becoming informed before having the surgery. I will be 6 months banded on the 22nd of this month. I think the one thing that I wasn't prepared for was the way I must now eat..... Slow, tiny bites, and lots of chewing. I mean, how do you break the habit of WOLFING DOWN massive amounts of food? I've been a FAST eater my whole life. So, that's where I struggle the most. But I have learned that an old dog CAN LEARN new tricks, I'm getting better with the slowing down and smaller bites. I'm getting GREAT with getting daily cardio exercise in, I now go to the gym SIX days a week and I do an hour a day on the elliptical, burning over 600+ calories a day. My husband and I joined a gym 8 months ago, even before my surgery. I'm definitely more fit and have even learned to LOVE EXERCISE... Hope all goes well with you and your weight loss journey!

It's funny that you mentioned this BC I thought, "women forget about the differences between the strength of the average sex drive for a woman and the average sex drive for a man." Men more than likely have sex on their mind more times throughout the day than women do.... So naturally, they are going to pursue having a sexual encounter more.... It doesn't make it right that they are more sexually aroused when a person is shapelier.... They just are..... VERY INTERESTING.... Another Women from Venus, Men from Mars scenario !

Weight gain, help!
HealthyNewMe replied to Zakura7477's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Only you can answer those questions about overeating and not exercising. But you would have had to overeat 3500x4= 14,000 extra calories to actually gain that 4 pounds.... And you KNOW you didn't do that. Surely you know that women, in particular, fluctuate with water retention throughout the month, week, and even day. I bet if you hop on the scale tomorrow, your weight will be lower. I, personally, can't handle daily scale readings.... They put me in a funk. So, after torturing myself for 53 years, I gave up daily and weekly scale readings.... Now, I weigh only once a month...... Every single month for the past eight months, I have lost weight..... No more up 4, down 2, up 1, up 0.3, down 1.2...... I just have an overall downward trend of weight loss..... I am soooo much happier now. I'm not advocating this for anyone else.... This is what works for ME.... No more daily freak outs for ME! -
Does anyone use a crockpot for meats?
HealthyNewMe replied to Wendydarling19's topic in Food and Nutrition
Day before yesterday, I used the crockpot for pork ribs. Onions, peppers, and bbque sauce. Tender to the point of falling off the bone. Very easy on the band.
