I'm like @@Bandista ....... I exercise all the time now. Thanksgiving week was no different. The day before and the day after. Didn't miss a beat. Saw my 25 yr old daughter doing this for years, and I finally learned from her. I'm not even worried about the holidays for the second year in a row. I may taste a few little extras here or there, but I'll keep exercising and let the band do what it is supposed to do.

You should really see some calorie burn now. You'll find that not weighing everyday is very liberating. And the reward when you get on the scale only at the doctor's office is that it is usually a large chunk of weight.
-
I once told a friend, "You look like you've lost a ton of weight." Really..... I said a TON..... OMG, a TON?!?!?! And, I meant it as a compliment.
-
My advice....... QUIT WEIGHING every day or even every week. After 53 years, I finally learned to let go of that scale. Just live the banded life and hop on the scale every three to four weeks. You will see a loss. Look at your topic title........ "Slow PROGRESS...... I have only lost TEN POUNDS." I'd take TEN POUNDS in FOUR WEEKS....... I'd be happy with TEN POUNDS in FOUR WEEKS. Some weigh-ins, I lost FOUR POUNDS in TEN WEEKS...... But, the way I saw it..... I was making PROGRESS. You will too. You will too. You will too !!!!!!!!!!! It's only been four weeks, Keeper.

How Does Your Weight Loss Surgery Diet Fit into Your Household’s Meal Plan?
HealthyNewMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I find it so easy to adapt..... I'm from the DEEP SOUTH, so we have lots of dishes with rice. (red Beans & rice, gumbo w/rice, jambalaya). I either cook with brown rice, or if I use white rice, I eat the dish w/out rice. Same thing for meatballs and Pasta...... I either fix whole wheat pasta or I eat the tomato gravy with just the meatballs. We eat a lot of seafood and I usually broil instead of deep fry. The other day, I made mac n cheese. I used some of the cheese sauce and made a small dish with broccoli and cauliflower. If I make poboys, I just eat the meats and cheese rolled up in lettuce leaves, instead of eating it all on French bread. It's really no big deal to adjust any of my every day dishes. That's what I've been doing for the last three years, and everyone seems perfectly content. Like I mentioned in a previous post, my husband joined the gym when I did and eats the way I eat (except a larger quantity) and he lost 60 pounds over the last year and a half too. Together, we are 200+ pounds lighter !!!!!!!!! -
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who also lost quite a bit of weight (no WLS, just low carbing it). I was jokingly telling how how I've become so scatterbrain lately....... for example, I forgot to press "save" after adding a phone number to my phone contacts, and thus didn't have the number the next day when I needed it. We laughed, but then she quite seriously said that she had been experiencing similar "cognitive malfunctions".... like not being as sharp as she should be. She went on to say that she had researched that rapid weight loss causes fat loss in the brain as well, which according to her...... the brain has fatty tissue. My response to her was, "So, what you're telling me is that the SKINNIER I'M GETTING, the DUMBER I'M GETTING?!?!?!?" Just checking in with you all to see if any of you have noticed any difference, one way or the other, in your cognitive ability with weight loss...... SHARPER or DULLER

Went to the gym the day before and the day after Thanksgiving...... Had to work off all of that alcohol I drank......I mean, food I ate!!!!!!! LOL. Did not worry or fret about what to eat, what not to eat, should I have this, should I not have this. Living the banded life during the holidays for the second year....... No more dieting mentality for this old girl!!!!!!!

Your Thanksgiving Dinner Game Plan
HealthyNewMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
This will be my second Thanksgiving living as a BANDED person. My plan is to let the band do its work.....In other words, I will NOT be able to gorge, overeat, or stuff myself, so I will eat a small amount of what I want to eat......turkey, oyster dressing, green Beans, and a baked sweet potato. I'm cooking for 25 people, so some things never change!!!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all of my BARIATRICPAL friends. -
I read this thread bc I always have the same question, and get such varied answers..... If I set the calorie goal on MyFitnessPal to 1000 calories a day..... And I burn 800 calories doing 60 minutes of intense cardio...... Do I eat those 1000 calories + the 800 I burned?

Well, I'm flying next Tuesday, and I have a possible "fill" appointment on Monday. To be honest, I never considered if I should get a fill before flying......HMMM

How about bringing a packet of powder protein to add into a bottle of water you buy once you go through security.

Well...got my answer...
HealthyNewMe replied to Vabeachlady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 60 pounds BEFORE I scheduled surgery. I probably could have lost the rest.......Hell, I had lost 100+ pounds TWICE before in my life. But, having WLS would not only help me take off the rest (I've now lost a total of 140+), but it was going to help me with the one thing I could never do......MAINTAIN!!!!!!!!!!! I was a dieting EXPERT, but I never managed to learn how to MAINTAIN. Maybe you could think of it that way! -

How about trying after a hot cup of coffee or tea. -
Sometimes, my doc increases a fill of .1 or .2 cc's at a time....... That's how much a difference can make when you are close to green.
-
Your doctor will ask several questions and help you make the decision of whether or not to get a fill.
