    A Funny Realization

Carbs are my nemesis, too! A year and a half without bread, white pasta, sugar, flour, and white potatoes for me. Two years without soft drinks...... My body is VERY HAPPY! Glad you had your eye opening experience!!!

    Bad attitude..

I bought three pairs of pants.... Jeans, khaki, black. I bought 8-10 shirts/blouses. I mix and match. Won't buy again until I'm TWO sizes smaller. BTW..... I'm NOT a morning person either.....I struggle to be pleasant until I've had TWO full mugs of coffee.

In need of a buddy :)

Hi Julie, It seems Luke you are getting your head back on the journey. I hope y'all are experiencing the beautiful weather we are now experiencing. Makes you want to be outside and alive. How are things going since your last fill? Glad to see that you've reigned in on that snacking. Keep me posted about your weight losses if you choose to. Know that I've been thinking about you and hoping my new buddy across the BIG POND is doing well! Tammie

    Oh, THAT'S Why

BTW, that logging of every mouthful is eyeopening. I've been logging for 200+ days. Keeps me very accountable, and awoke me to the fact that I was consuming way more calories than I thought. You can friend me on MtFitnessPal if you'd like: tammiepuyau

    Oh, THAT'S Why

I liberated myself from the scale by only weighing once a month at my doctor's office. I have lost between 3-10 pounds each month for 7 months now. I had become obsessed with my scale and I gave it way too much power over me. This has been very freeing for ME. Not suggesting it for you, just sharing MY experience. I will however, rethink the scale when I get near maintenance. My tentative plan is to weigh weekly and paint in RED my "DO NOT EXCEED THIS WEIGHT" number.

    Today is my one-year bandiversary!

I think it's awesome how our band date is seared into our being like a birth date or wedding anniversary.... In essence, it is our rebirth date.... You are an inspiration to me! Congrats, and thank YOU!

My NSV was at the gym. As a creature of habit, I usually use the same elliptical. It's not under the fan, it's not on the end, and there's no mirror in front of it. (For those of you who watch "The Big Bang Theory," you could say I'm kind of like Sheldon and his SPOT on the sofa.... LOL). Anyway, today I had to use another machine, which happened to be in front of a mirror, which I'm not used to. When I was getting on the elliptical, I looked up and thought, "that woman has a nicely shaped butt." Guess what? IT WAS MY BUTT!!!!

    CONFESSIONS!????

The road to success is not a straight path.... There are many curves, twists, and turns along the way. I made two copies of blank calendars for each month.... One is marked "Food Plan" and the other is marked "Exercise." I'm visual, so bare with me....... I actually draw a SMILEY FACE on each and every day that I follow and meet my "Food Plan" goals and"Exercise" goals. On days that I don't, I leave it blank (I thought about drawing a "sad" face, but decided against that to keep it more upbeat.) I have smiley faces on about 90% of the days.... And I'm great with that. I'll have 15-18 days of smiley faces in a row, and a day or two with a blank space, followed by another string of smiley faces. The point ------- I'm going to not always be 100% perfect; I'm just not. QUIT BEATING YOURSELF UP..... It's a bump, a curve, a NO SMILEY FACE DAY! You've got this!!!!

    My Journey...A Work in Progress

Loved reading your story, SillyAuntDi.....best wishes as you continue on YOUR JOURNEY!!!

Got complacent.. and I need to move forward!

See the journey through....you're not where you need to be, but thank goodness you're not where you used to be.....I mean 60 pounds is a nice chunk of weight. I would meet with the doctor again, maybe discuss getting a small fill, and GET BACK TO BASICS....,eat protein, drink water, exercise.... FINISH STRONG!!!! I did find your post encouraging to me in that you may not be losing, but you haven't gained.... Very encouraging to read this!

    Please Help! Urgent

I would ask the following questions : Do you log your food intake (write it down, log into MyFitnessPal, etc)? How many calories a day are you eating? Have you cut out carbs from sugar, pasta, breads, sweets, white potatoes, etc? I found out my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) (mine is currently 1653) and I subtract 750 calories (to aim at losing 1 1/2 pounds a week), netting me around 900 calories a day. I burn approximately 650-700 calories a day doing 65 mins of cardio. I usually eat back some of those calories burned. I also choose not to weigh daily or even weekly (my choice) and every single month I've dropped from 4 to 9 pounds. I think logging caloric intake has helped. Best Wishes

    I'm STARVING!

I drank beef and chicken broth.... Hot and savory, plus it was another temporary hold. Also SF Popsicles. You can do this!
  22. Honestly, I've asked those same questions to others throughout the years.... Part of it was nicities in conversation, part of me wanted to know if there was some NEW DIET or WEIGHT LOSS CRAZE that I didn't know about!!!!!! People tend to ask questions.... I know I did.... I even exclaimed to one friend I hadn't seen in years, " Oh my God, you lost a TON of weight." Really???? A TON???? Yep, I said it!

    July 29 2013

Hi... I was banded August 22, 2013. Doing well, as well! Just hit the GREEN zone this month, and I can really see the difference already. I'm becoming a daily exerciser. I'm 25 pounds away from my weight on the date I got married 25 1/2 years ago!!!!!

    Gym Journey

Were you at the gym or exercising pre-surgery or are you new to exercising altogether. I started cardio before weights. And I started with the stationary bike bc I could get the cardio in w/out putting strain on my ankle and knee joints (of course I was over 300 pounds, so they didn't need any additional strain). After losing 50 pounds, I moved to the elliptical bc I got a better calorie burn than I do on the treadmill. I started adding weight resistance at around the same time. 10 months for me (and my husband) of exercising six days a week. We were both certified couch potatoes. Not any more. Best Wishes!
  25. Your fear is legit, but it can be worked through.... As I've stated before, I've always been a great DIETER, but I've never been a great MAINTAINER. Why? I know why..... Because I spent my entire life EITHER ON A DIET OR OFF A DIET..... Of course, I've never had the band before and my doc said that a very understated value of the band is that it helps with maintenance. With all of the research I have done, I as of yet have not researched a therapist for individual counseling. I do think that is what I will do as I go into maintenance. Counseling and going to Overeaters Anonymous is in my not too distant future.
