    Anemia

Awww good luck!! I was really anemia before had about 4-5 blood transfusions and had to get a shot every week, hopefully my levels don't drop again when I start to prepare for surgery
  4. Congrats on your road to success!!! You look fabulous!!!
  5. I started looking into weight loss surgery last year. I joined this site awhile back and got really encouraged. I started weight watchers June 2013 and did good for a little while but then fell off, stop going in Jan 14. My old manager had great success with Weight Watchers she lost over 60 pounds and she went from a size like 18 To a 4, in like a year with Zumba and everything. Was a great inspiration but then I got a promotion and got transferred to a new branch and she just recently moved to Arizona to my support team dwindled. I have United healthcare and their requirements is a six-month diet plan you can go back up to five years and if you enroll in the bariatric program and do the surgery at one of their center of excellence they give you a $1,000 in your MRA account. I enrolled last august and my case manager called once and I kept calling her back and just voice mail n no calls back so I went to New York Presbyterian Hospital and got the ball rolling last sept. I did the seminar and paid for the nutrient visits and that seminar also. Got my meal plan papers for pre op and post op and the dos and donts. I was set on the lap band till just the other day. It was less invasive and can be reverse. I already got enough wrong with me( I have a mass in front of my heart and had a pulmonary embolism three yrs back and I'm on lovenox injections for ever cuz they don't know why I got it in the first place and what this mass is. I'm a medically mystery lol ) I just got a new case manager nurse( who just my luck left the company last Friday). After our talk I decided to rethink the sleeve and now have made up my mind to go for this one. I'm so excited to start my new journey. Now my real setback is my dr office. I gave the packet to one of the case managers there who said she will help me, did the psychiatrist evaluation in Oct and just need a few months left for the weight watcher programs(I could use six months of stamps). It's AUGUST and the papers r still not submitted. Partly my fault cuz I didn't follow up enough. I got a promotion back on November to a way bigger branch and it has been crazy, was short staff for awhile. So my focus was on new promotion and staying sane. But time for me now, just turned 29 and I'm ready to start my journey. I'm tired of being fat lol. I need that strict restriction from all the good foods. One big concern is post op and working with my schedule, making sure I focus on eating and drinking enough. It's hard in between dealing fraud and opening accounts and business accounts and all the complex banking services. I know it's will be worth it in the end. I'm just so frustrated with my dr office. My dr is nice but the workers smh, it's sooooo true if you want something done you need to do it yourself!! I'm going Thursday and I'm going to be like just give me my stuff and I will fax it myself. Just fill out the sheet. Sucky part is that my weight watcher book got wet and washed out most of the stamps. I emailed them and they sent me all my weight ins, so I'm PRAYING its good enough! I'm hoping to get everything submitted and get a date in Oct. I'm going to Costa Rica in sept so I want to wait till after. This site and all your stories have really encouraged me so much!! Thank you!! Wish me luck!!! Sorry for the long post!

    Had my 1st consult!

Congrats!! You in NY too! Im doing mines at NY Presbyterian, b/c my insurance is going to give me $1,000 if I do it at one their centers. I went for my 1st visit 9/5 and today met with the dietitian and went over my pre op diet plans. So now just have to get my psych evaluation and have 2 more months of dieting to do and then i get my surgery date! I'm so excited and can't wait. Glad I went on my Jamaica trip this month, I just got back and omgosh I wouldn't have went if I just was banded. So much food and drinks. Now I'm ready to start, have to do a trial run of Protein shakes the lady said to see what I like and don't. Start separating my food and drinks. Have to wait at least 30 mins after eating to drink. Good Luck with everything!!!
  9. Ohh ok, I went for my first appointment on 9/5 same thing went over insurance n all the different options and what other clearance I need... My insurance requires a 6 month diet( I been doing weight watchers since June so that's 4 months and hopefully they will count the weigh ins at the dr office from prior months) I'm hoping to have surgery be4 Christmas so I can use my personal days that I have to take anyways be4 the yr is over. Also a psych. Eval all schedule the first week of oct. I go see the dietician 9/27 the day after I get back from Jamaica ... Good thing too cuz I want to enjoy my vacations n last days of drinking n eating lol but I'm sooo excited for the next steps!!

  13. Hi everyone! 1st I just want to thank everyone on here, you guys have been such an great encouragement ! I stumble across this website by accident while searching for information on wls. This site has really pushed me to making the first step in my new journey that I'm looking forward to! I contacted my insurance company(united healthcare) back in June about wls but never followed up. Got busy with work and school, I started weight watchers back in June and I'm trying but I really need a lil more help(lap band). My manager lost over 50lb with them and every day is track track track with her. We write the point values on everything thru out the branch lol. She has been such a great inspiration to be myself together and lose. Now I'm so ready for this journey and know that's its gonna be a be challenge... Reading people's posts on here and I so identify with them and realize that I'm an emotional eater, I'm a cancer and we are very emotional people and have struggle with weight problems all my life so food is a comforter. So I called my insurance company again last week and had to re enroll in the program again (hopefully I don't have to start the whole six month diet thing again and they say the last few months don't count ) I'm hoping to have surgery by the end of the year. So I got my first appointment next week Sept 5th at the center of excellence in Ny Presbyterian hospital( my employer will put $1,000 in my MRA account if I go there) !!!! Hopefully everything will fall in place and go smoothly. I do have some kind of mass in front of my heart(the found it last dec and don't know what it is, and I had a PE (clots in the lungs) and I'm on lovenox but stopped a few months ago and cuz my hair was falling out and the bruising but just started back again a few weeks ago and bruises r back so the dr told me to stop again n get more tests done to see if I still need it and the right doses.) so some of that might be a Lil 'hiccup' in my journey but *fingers crossed* it won't be Reading the post and people's experiences on here have me starting to prepare for the changes I need to make and more aware of the habits I have.
