Congrats n welcome!!! Wow great job so far!! 12 months??!!! Wow and many of us who only have a 3 or 6 month diet requirements whine n complain about it lol. So you have picked up great habits the last year or so, so u r on a good path. Good luck with everything!! Good looking couple!! Keep us updated!

So today I went for my new psych evaluation(my old one had expired) I went in feeling excited and happy and I left feeling kinda sad and upset. I explained to her why I needed a new evaluation and that I have changed my mind from the lap band to the sleeve within the last few months. She asked me my understanding of the sleeve and the pros and cons and why I wanted it. I explained that I always struggled with my weight and Im a high risk for diabetes and high pressure bc it runs in my family etc etc. I don't always see myself as being beautiful, then she was like so you are going to have the surgery and be a new you and be pretty and and have all the guys chasing you how are you going to handle that? In my mind I was thinking so you agree that I would be prettier thinner and how you know that I don't have guys chasing me now, why just because I'm fat? lol Then later in the convo she asked about my finances and how I spend my money and do I save etc etc. And if I had debts and if I pay my bills on time. Im thinking like with does this have to do with anything. Then about my family and told her a little about my parents and my mom being on drugs when I was born but then got better and how I was always sick when I was little and she was like so you suffer from depression? I said no and then later she asked me a few times have i ever been treated for my depression, I had to keep telling her I have never been depressed. She made me feel really bad that I want to keep my surgery and also the fact that I was really sick when I was younger and the fact that I'm dealing with a mass in front of my heart and a history of pulmonary embolism and all that a secret. I told her that I didn't tell a lot of people because frankly its not no ones business. Its about me and being healthier. Then she made a comment about how none of my family knows about my business and the ones that do is keeping the secret too. I just felt sad after leaving, and she wants to see me again after I meet with the surgeon. I wanted to be like Ummm noooo I just want my evaluation and never come back. The other Dr didn't make me feel bad, he was like he respect my choice of not telling people and if they ask just tell them you are working on a better you and getting healthy. Not everyone needs to know if you don't want them too.

I just got back from Costa Rica n the 1st thing people ask is did you go zip lining??!! Costa Rica is known for having the best zip line thru the rain forest n all that but I was too embarrassed bc I was probably over the weight limit so I just lied n blamed it on the rain lol. But next yr definitely!

Thanks! I'm still sticking by decision n not telling everyone. Some of my family knows, my ex bf, and one of my manager n my best friend. She doesn't know me and as a psychiatrist she should be more un judgmental

i do too If i eat certain things it goes right thru me and I get cramps and diarrhea and have to go to the bathroom asap.

Thanks guys!! I feel much better now, I'm a cancer so I'm a emotional and sensitive person. I tried my hardest not to cry in front of her, don't even want to imagine if I did. She would have whipped out her prescription pad to write me drugs lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one who went thru something like this and you guys are so encouraging. The 1st psychiatrist that I saw was nice, we talked about weight loss and I told him one thing that worried about me was after surgery when I would have to eat lunch with my co workers what I would tell them, he was like simple just tell them you are working with a dr for weight loss and changing your diet. He said they don't need to know you had wls if you don't want to tell them. We talked about things regarding weight and my past issues. Nothing about my paychecks and making me feel bad and trying to push things on me. Too bad he moved and I couldn't go back to him to just get a amendment added to that elv. What I'm scared of is that when I asked when I can get the letter to take for my appt on 10/7 the office worker was like yes I'll fax it to you like before and the lady was like oh no don't fax it to her, fax it to the surgeon instead. So is she going to write something she doesn't want me to see?? I'm going to be sooooooooo mad if she does. Im so close and if she gets in my way ughhhh omgoshhhhh lol I got referred to her by my pcp, I went there because she was in the same building with my doctor and close to my house. The hospital gave me a list of other drs I could also see, so if she writes something bad I'm just going to make a appt with one of those.

Aww I'm sorry you are going thru this. Most people vent about the opposite. They are always so cold. Hope things improve

Hey guys!!!! Hope everyone is doing good and things are going well with everyone's journey! I just got back from Costa Rica three days ago I had a blast!! I'm so happy I went before my surgery and was able to enjoy everything. Just knowing that I'm going to be having surgery soon helped me enjoy my vacation more. I didn't get depressed looking in the mirror and over thinking how I looked In a bathing suit. I just thought about my new goal "sexy at thirty" and the reality that my next vacation hopefully I will be much thinner. I will be thirty in June 2015 and that's my new focus. I have a busy October ahead. I go to do my psych evaluation again this Thursday and then oct 7th I meet with the Surgeon and hopefully get a date and they get new notes for the sleeve to resubmit to UHC and then oct 13 I go to the hematologist to get clearance. I'm so excited!! So looking for a November surgery. SN: I got my denial letter for the Lap Band in the mail when I got back from vacation and the surgery date was Sept 30th, so I do believe things happen for a reason. Imagine being in a resort on a all liquid diet lol. I couldn't do it.

@@maggiemayuk are you on lovenox injections? The compression socks are to help avoid DVT and help your blood circular in your legs esp good if you are not walking and moving a lot

@@Aspring424 what pt portal? Lol... I like them, everyone is nice. I like Jodie the lady who is in charge of dealing with the insurance. Nancy the nutritionist is nice too. I hope I don't have to do the endo, but pulmonary was on my paper but I had one two years ago n had to pay $340 and I don't have that money to do it again lol. You live in Manhattan? I go down there next Tuesday.

If you feel uncomfortable you can call the insurance company also just to follow up to make sure all the required paperwork has been received. That's how I found out I was submitted for the wrong surgery thru the insurance company. Best of luck!!!

@@Aspring424 was suppose to be Sept 30th. When I 1st started last yr, I meet with the nurse and told her I wanted the lap band because at that time I thought it was a better choice. Less invasive and reversible. So I did the nutrient seminar and everything in Oct 2013 and they was just waiting for my 6 month diet which by nov 2013 I would have been done. I had my psych evaluation oct 7 13, but then I got a promotion in nov n got really busy and I just pushed the surgery on the back burner. I found this site and another ones and read about the sleeve and decided I wanted that one instead. Too much problems and follow ups for the band. Also Didn't help that my dr office held on to the papers for months and the lady lied and said she mailed things in. Finally got refocus and demanded the lady at my dr office just give me the papers n ill do it myself. So I faxed everything in August and I called UHC in sept and good thing cuz I got submitted for the sleeve. So they had to close the case and I was on vacation the last week n half so I have to wait till 10/7 to meet with Dr. Bagloo and finalize on the sleeve so they have notes on that to resubmit to UHC. And since my psych is oh good for a yr I have to do it again. So I go 10/2 to do that. So hoping for a early nov, last oct date! I'm so ready!
