My name is David Pelletier and I live out in a lovely section of New Jersey. I'm married to an awesome woman, who is very supportive of my choice to get the band. I have one little boy (Drew - 2.5 years old) and a pair of little boys on the way (Noah and Mason due in the October/November time frame).

I've been overweight/obese most of my life. Was a skinny child growing up and put on weight in high school. I maintained my larger size throughout college and despite numerous attempts to remove weight, I never lost more then twenty pounds....and never for long either.

I hovered around the 300 mark for a good ten years or so, and the real eye-opener for me was on a trip to Florida with my fiance (now wife) when I had a difficult time getting into a ride at an amusement park.

Around the time when we got pregnant with the first child, I started considering lap band as a tool and a crutch that I'd need to get things under control. I had some really bad eating habits and an even worse relationship with food in general. I started considering it and even went for my first visit. Then, I changed jobs and insurance and it mostly fell off the radar for a while. It was still in the back of my brain, but I just never did anything.

I told my wife in 2012 that I thought I should start it up again since the job I moved to had it as a covered item on insurance and I had to do something to change the relationship with food that we had. I figured, it wasn't going to be just me that benefited from this, as it would change the normal focus of food that was such a common theme in my immediate and extended family. We talked it through and decided to wait, for money reasons, until we got pregnant again.

Fast forward to early 2013 and we found out we were pregnant with not one, but two little monsters. I found a doctor and began the path to getting a band. After a slight insurance situation (and I'm sure I'm not alone here) I finally got my band on the 6th of August.

Thanks for taking the time to read my little story and I look forward to updating with some great results in the near future!
