I love autumn for the feeling of a new start -- must have to do with all the back-to-school energy. What a great time to get banded! You will be able to walk outdoors and by the holidays you'll be well into a good routine. So happy for you! Thanks for keeping us pre-banders posted. Hoping my hospital program gets a move-on so I will be right behind you. Best wishes!

i understand how you feel.i chose to tell almost everyone so they could become my accountability partners..but some have chosen to bash me on "if you only had the willpower " line..but that is okay i know they love and care about me..and I have chosen the lapband route because i believe it will work for me..i am 4 days out, hate the shakes but love the preliminary results...but my surgeon said the words that helped me most. He said a lot of people will consider you took the easy route ..but there is nothing easy about this...you have to work to log what you eat, you have to still exercise, you have to do lots of things people who are not banded don't have to do. However, YOU made the decision to change your life and YOU are going to have a better life because your health and your life will be better. CONGRATS on having the courage to change your life..not everyone can! warmly deb

I totally get it. I have a 95 year old mother in a nursing home with dementia, 69 year brother who is mentally challenged and a 90 year MIL. I schlep non stop. 2 years ago this past week end my husband almost died and is getting stronger but is on full disability. I don't have a "ME" life any more. I am almost 63 and it sucks. This site is great because we can all speak our minds and the family doesn't know it.
Smile, we are planting daisies not pushing them up.
I don't do the eating out of control anymore. I did for a while with almonds but don't buy them any more.
    Have a better week.

My port flipped at 3mths out, I continued to lose.
No fill at orginal LBS. 6wks post op 2cc, 4 wks later port is flipped no fill. Revision surgery and another 6wks until a fill. 4wks after that another fill and finally restriction.
During this whole process, I continued to lose weight by sticking to my surgeons instructions. It was another diet for a long while, but the band does work.
Sorry you are having problems. Its time to log what your eating and being sure to get in your protein first.
Tell your hunger to shut the hell up, mind over matter.IMHO

I had complications too. My band was leaking for 15 months. I gained weight fast and I struggled with hunger. BUT I stopped and took stock, and started focussing on losing again. And I did - 15 lbs in 5 months until I got my band replaced. Gaining and over-eating is not the band's fault, no one controls that but you. The band is there to try to help you NOT over-eat but it won't do it for you.
If you want to lose, you can do it with or without the band. I won't lie, it's HARDER without a band, but it's not impossible. I know it's frustrating having complications and not ever knowing if you'll have a functioning band, because it's something you can't control. I understand, I've been there. But there is ONE thing you can control, and that's whether or not you manage your weight in the meantime, while you're waiting for answers.
