I'm going to try this! I can make a pot of it and save it in little containers so I won't have to cook as much for myself!

Manda- that's me! I didn't get the way I did eating an occasional bite of something it was more a binge fest! I am trying to do the same thing / if I really want something I just ask for a bite here and there and I don't actually get it for my meal or eat it by myself. It makes me feel like I'm not depriving myself.

This was hilarious! I love poptarts and I don't buy them for my kids because I love them! Oh my gosh the outside edges! (Smacking myself back to reality lol) You should be proud of the weight you have lost - you just can't have the things that you crave that are bad for you in the house. There are some things that I have to avoid for the same reason! Love your compliments - you deserve it!!!! I want to lose 100 pounds (now I'm whining) lol

Orientation meeting freaked me out!
jamilyne 102668 replied to Cairobat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trust me - food is not your friend. You think it is & I've thought it was too. I love love love food! But before I had my lapband, I would eat and gorge & binge my way to 250 pounds - wth? These orientations are important and I'm not knocking them at all - you should know that you are changing your entire lifestyle and you are, but this is manageable. It really is, I am able to eat good food, but I did have to change the way that I eat. I have to diary my food, I can't chew gum, I can't drink carbonated drinks. I have to eat a lot more Protein. I have to exercise. You just have to be good to yourself. Trust me - the weight loss is so much more better than the food! -
I need to get back on track! Need to talk and get motivated.

I'm not a veteran, but this is what I would do: call your surgeon & make an appt, you probably need to begin having fills so that you are not hungry. Once you can get the hunger under control, that will be a big step. I understand your frustration, but you are ready to begin getting back on track, you have the tool to do it - now you have to use it! I am rooting for you! -

Remember when you have surgery you couldn't eat or drink for over 12 hours and you were probably a little dehydrated. I think that the drinking is good, just sip and I think you should be ok. Water and liquids usually slide on down through your band. You may have some swelling, just take it easy! So happy for all of you & I hope you all feel better soon! Take care! -

Pre Surgery jitters?
jamilyne 102668 replied to pibblemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I kind of think putting an actual number that you want to lose by a specific date could play mind games with you if you don't reach that goal. But this is how it's gone for me: had surgery on 9/13/13 and I've had one fill. I've lost almost 60 pounds (58pounds) I'm 45 years old, I walk a lot and exercise at the gym about 2 days a week. I eat between 800-1000 calories, very seldom do I go over 1000 and I'm not hungry. I've seen some people lose more weight than me and some that haven't, but it's not a race - everyone looses at a different rate. I hope this helps -
Anyone dealing with Mental Illness and Surgery?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Stacyann81's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not a veteran with wls, but I am with depression. I know that dark cloud that looms! It took a lot of work and the right doctor for me to overcome my depression. A quite a bit of weight that I had to lose came with that depression. Wls doesn't take that away, but me losing weight has helped me with a lot of issues, emotionally & physically. My suggestion is to talk to your psychiatrist and see about going to counseling if you aren't already in counseling. If you are - discuss the problems you are having right now. Some counselors want to go through your whole life from the beginning, tell the counselor that you want to go through what is bothering you right now. Ask for some steps on how to relieve stresses in your life. Please be good to yourself - get enough sleep, exercise, do things that make you happy. You'll get over this hump! Take good care and keep us informed on how you are doing ! -

Pre Surgery jitters?
jamilyne 102668 replied to pibblemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way! I don't regret my decision to have weight loss surgery at all! I'm very happy & I just know you will be too. It is very overwhelming, because it seems like a lot, but read over those instructions that the dr gave you & just start preparing for your new life. You probably know that anything worth having makes you nervous because you are out of your comfort zone. It's ok to be nervous, but just try to focus on the new you, because there will be a new you - we'll all be watching you succeed! -
I know exactly how you feel - when I got to under 200 I was so happy! I know it took a lot of work - good for you!!!!!! The other weight that you mentioned in your post will come off - just continue to do what you've been doing & you will get there - just be patient (by the way - I have to remind myself about that too - lol) !!!!

3/1: 193 3/8: checking in 192 (-1 pound) -
Yes - I've also heard people say that before. But, I couldn't have done this on my own. I tried everything and it wasn't working for me. I needed help. A lot of the people that says it's the easy way out are not overweight. Someone who has not been overweight does not understand, because it's not their thing. Anyone that's had an addiction should understand because that's where most of the obesity comes from (is addiction). food is one of the hardest addictions to overcome because you still have to eat! In the end, it's your life and you decided to do this / there was a doctor involved who actually agreed with you (lol)! No one knows your life and your personal journey and if it was like mine it was not as good as it is now!

That's great! You are doing amazing!

How old are you? 45 What surgery did you have? Lapband Male or female? I am doing this to help me become fertile. Anyone else ?

Search up threads on here, I've seen quite a few people become pregnant after wls. I wish you all the best! -
I understand how you feel. You tell whoever you think will be supportive, if not - don't talk about it. You need people to lift you up and not bring you down! There are some people that understand and some people that don't. Unless someone has been obese, most likely they don't understand. You do this for you! You have made a decision to change your life for the better. I do not regret one minute me having wls. I am going to say that you will not either. I wish you the very best of luck and if you need someone to be supportive, just log onto here and we will support you!
