What do you think - body image?
jamilyne 102668 replied to jamilyne 102668's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I think about my body: My mind has not caught up with my body, and I still feel like that fat girl. I don't know if its because the weight loss is quicker than with the regular dieting, but I still go towards the plus size, even though now I can wear a 14 pants. I still kind of forget that I don't have to go into the plus size. I'm happy, don't get me wrong. Everyone is telling me that I look great, and I feel ok. I just don't feel thinner. Maybe its just me ... -
Yay for you! I'm so happy for you! I've been rooting for you ever since I've been on here

You might want to ask if you can just try a couple of pkgs. I recently tried them & I feel like I was missing out - their shakes are really good. I am not a fan of protein shakes, but these were honestly good -

People do get divorced with or without wls. That's very true - it may have happened regardless. You have to do what makes YOU happy!

I have heard that before on here. I think that some spouses have a problem with the person that they are with losing weight and may feel intimidated or something. I am sure if you look up threads, there will be more information.

How many days off work?
jamilyne 102668 replied to futureformerfattie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you have the time - definitely take it. I had surgery on Friday and returned to a desk job on Tuesday. I did ok but for the first week - all I did was work, when I came home from work I was done. My husband and kids helped out at home during that time. After about a week I was fine. -

You can also try a heating pad, the warmth sometimes helps, gas-x strips, the walking, a Tylenol, warm tea - those are some of the things that helped me. I hope you feel better soon - I know it sucks, but it does subside!

We all know what we are allowed to eat & what we should stay away from - this is supposed to be a fun thread! Some of us have to stay away from certain foods because you have visions of it in your sleep & if you start eating it you know you just couldn't stop (lol) - so, is there any food that you miss? -

I Dont Think Ya'll Are ready for this.

I want to cry for the lady running on that track! This is the main reason why I was so afraid to go to the gym, because I didn't want someone commenting on me or making fun of me. I see that the letter changes later on, but the writer doesn't have any idea the journey that the runner has gone through. I too get tough love, but that's from someone who actually cares about you. The writer is just making assumptions about the runner. She is out there, trying and someone has to come out and write a piece about her - wth? The whole thing makes me sad. I want to run up to her and give her a hug and be like - come on, I'll go with you (then she could have written about both of us). -
Depressed, discouraged. No Weight Loss, Hungry, Help!
jamilyne 102668 replied to Tonia Duty Keo Bailey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not an expert or anything, but this is what I would do: 1. start a diary of your food intake (you can try my fitness pal); 2. are you exercising? 3. more Protein less carbs; 4. eat more strategically (what I mean with this is - when you are hungry, eat something more filling with low calories - like an egg white veggie omelet). Please don't be discouraged. You are still brand new at this and it honestly takes time. Maybe the amount of ccs that they say you have aren't correct either. I have heard of some people mention on here before that they thought they had a certain amount of ccs in their band, to find out it was incorrect. -

How is it possible to eat 60-70 grams of protein ?!
jamilyne 102668 replied to SecretBander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people have said that - but if the Protein shake doesn't have a lot of calories (mine are around 200 calories) and if you are getting a high quality protein, I don't think it is. Now, if you are drinking a milkshake, that's different. Also the Protein shakes will keep you full longer because of the higher protein. -
Interesting NYT piece, "The Fat Drug"

I try to buy milk & meat for my family that states that no antibiotics or hormones were used. I shop at Publix and they automatically provide meat without antibiotics. I know that stores/farmer/or whoever could still put the antibiotics in there, but I feel like I'm doing my part to try to keep my family healthier. -

jamilyne 102668 replied to SecretBander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is what I do - egg whites, tuna fish, chicken breast, turkey bacon, almonds/nuts, Beans, and cheese. I also do Protein shots or a Protein shakes - the protein shots are called "Body Fortress super protein shots" from Walmart - they are 120 calories and give you 26 grams of protein. These are just suggestions. You will get this figured out. I know some people have made comments about these protein shots and about them being bad, but they work for me. I don't really like whey protein shakes and this will give me the protein that i need. If I don't get my recommended allowance of the protein a day, I just do the protein shot to bring me back up. Hope this helps. -

I've only had one fill, but I don't remember being gassy, but it's possible. Do you have any gas/x strips? They might help, if not you can call the dr and let them know you are having a little trouble.
