Who's the Best in Florida? Best Surgeon? Best Aftercare?
jamilyne 102668 replied to SewHappyInFlorida's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I live in South Florida and Dr. Choi at Straxx did my surgery. I was also a self-pay and they have been very good to me. My surgery was on 9/13 - and they do offer financing. -
NEWLY BANDED 9/13/13!
jamilyne 102668 replied to misssharee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 9/13 too. Hope y'all are doing better! I still get a little tired, but my incisions are healing. Still learning to eat - my hardest thing is not eating & drinking at the same time - trying to get myself on a schedule. I've been doing good - it's just hard to remember. -
Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Good luck to all of you who are just about to have surgery I wish you lots of luck & speedy recovery. I am 10 days post surgery- mine was 9/13. I am on mushy food today. Um I did ok after surgery - my incisions didn't hurt me all that much - but the gas did hurt. But with pain medicine and walking it was bare able. Still even today I sometimes have that deep muscle achy ness from the surgery, but I stopped taking pain medicine about day three. So it really is ok and you are going to do fine it is surgery after all. I'm down 15 pounds and I am starting to notice a little. It really is worth it - because I can tell you that without this surgery (tool) I wouldn't have been able to do it. My need for food has changed - I am sometimes a little hungry but when I do eat I'm satisfied. Pre-band I was always hungry which led me to overeat and that was the best thing for me - was to be satisfied. Good luck to all of you -

Allie : I will tell you a little about myself as well - I am married with 4 kids (23,22,15&8). I have 2 dogs: honey (collie) and hunter ( black lab); a cat named kitty (tuxedo); a guinea pig (Oreo) and a little blue parakeet (birdie). I live in homestead, fl and I work in downtown Miami as a legal assistant. My hobbies are reading & I love spending time with my husband (who I adore) and my kids (adore equally). I had lapband surgery on Sept 13 (Friday the 13th) lol. My starting weight was 240 and today I weighed in at 227. I'm still recovering from surgery, but I've been back to work since Tuesday. I'm going to rest a lot this weekend! Would be glad to be friends with you - this site has really helped me before the surgery and afterwards. You are going to do wonderful and I hope that your medical condition lessens because of the surgery. You are bubbly and have a great personality and I honestly want all good things for you! -
Has anyone ever had c-diff(sp)? I have been having horrible diarrhea with extreme bloating since 2 days after surgery and went back to see the surgeon. He said that I might have this bacterial infect - so he prescribed flagyl. After the surgery I just had the gas pains and that deep achy pain from the surgery but was manageable. Then the diarrhea came and was severe and then I just started feeling so unwell! I am feeling a little better after just a few doses. I'm suppose to take it for like 10 days or so. Then looked on another site - do some lapband patients abuse this flagyl?

Oh I'm finally better - been on antibiotics since Monday -
It's very hard to cook meals for your family and to just have surgery! I had my surgery 9/13 and I'm cooking for my husband and two girls every single night and it's been hard. I just get my broth ready in a mug and a glass of unsweetened tea and sip my broth while they are eating. It makes me feel like I'm eating with them. The warm broth helps to make me satisfied. Also I love warm tea too - they help me at least:) hope it gets better for you

Good luck to you! I hope you feel better soon - the gas does hurt! I had my surgery 9/13 and I'm still recovering - but I've worked since Tuesday and have been able to do some of my chores at home - resting this weekend though! I wish you well -
Oh and that's not showing ignorance! Good topic to discuss here!

I think it could also affect the workplace and the ins cos like other people had mentioned - maybe also affect social security benefits ? I guess we will have to see. I'm sure there's lots of obese people that cannot work and maybe it will help them get some benefits they weren't previously entitled to! Let's hope!

Surgery Date 9/19/2013
jamilyne 102668 replied to JessicaLynn04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I had my surgery on Friday the 13th - I have only had small minor issues after surgery and I'm getting better every day! I wish you luck was worth it I've lost 12 1/2 pounds so far! -
My secret reason is I didn't want to weigh past 250 and I was weighing in at 235-240. So embarrassed of myself!
-
To all of you - we all did what was best for ourselves at the time. If someone hasn't dealt with being overweight, they don't understand. I'm sorry that all of you have had to go through what you have and had to endure these comments(I've had them too) it's really sad.
