Any other September 2013 bandsters?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
About the chocolate cravings - I like to eat low fat/low cal chocolate pudding - I think they are 60 calories or so (if you look at the pkgs some have 30% calcium - and it helps me ALOT! I adore chocolate - but this is my new fix (lol) About the fills- thanks for explaining it to me & also the pix of the needle - thanks for explaining it to me Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
I use my fitness pal because it will also let you track your protein/some Vitamins and exercise. I use it diligently because I don't want to screw up. Also if you are contemplating something you can put in the food to see what the calorie content/protein content before you eat it and get an idea beforehand. I've done that a couple of times and changed my mind - lol (too high in carbs/calories. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You and I are on the same schedule. I was banded on 9/13. My first fill is 10/14. I'm only consuming around 750-800 per day. I can't get higher than that because I'm not hungry. Nervous about getting a fill because I'm not that hungry. I've lost 21 pounds - so I guess I'm doing ok. Are you nervous about the first fill? I've read everyone's comments on them and I know I'll be ok, but I really don't know what to expect. I'm self pay - so the first 2 fills are free so I'm not sure. I will talk to dr about everything. Isopure anyone?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Corridor72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Isopure in the bottles at GNC. I don't like milk and a lot of the other Protein shakes have that milky consistency that gagged me. But, the bottles are in a Water base - so they are kind of like koolaid - I've tried fruit punch, orange & pineapple one. It's 160 calories prob- 40 grams Of protein no carbs. It's a big bottle, I don't drink the whole bottle at a time, just divide it up in smaller servings throughout the day - just a suggestion Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -

What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Losing my monthly fills ins coverage due to Obamacare come Jan 2014

You really should get an attorney to help you obtain disability. You might get turned down the first time, but if you are having problems like that episode, you may qualify. If you do qualify for disability, you should automatically qualify for Medicare. I think you still have to pay something, but it will be a lot less than what your are paying now. I'm just a paralegal (not an atty) but you should look around or ask around for a disability atty in your area and go talk to them. If you have been to an atty and you got turned down, just try again. You shouldn't have to pay the lawyer any money because if you get the disability, they'll take it out of your final settlement. Just a suggestion. Also, that $22,000 hospital bill - call the hospital and ask them if you can get a hardship application or if you can apply for hardship and if you qualify, they may reduce the bill. Any time I've ever asked a question on this forum, I was told the truth and for that I appreciate because I'm new at this. I didn't know what really to expect, but y'all helped me and still do help me. I think there's a time for "oh I'm so sorry" and a time where you might say "look I think you are wrong" or "you need to call the dr". I appreciate the honesty and the feedback. I'm no expert that's why I don't comment unless I know what I'm talking about. But some of you - have had the lapband for extended periods of time and have lost massive amounts of weight. Why wouldn't I listen to you? Isn't that why we are all here? To lose weight, be successful and to live a better life? That's why I'm here! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Trouble getting protein in
jamilyne 102668 replied to silly_weasel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you don't like the Protein shakes, maybe you could try Isopure - they come in glass bottles at GNC and they are a Water consistency with flavors I have tried orange & this pineapple one. It has 40 grams of protein. They kind of taste like a Kool-aide sort of it does have a little aftertaste - but it's doable! Just a suggestion. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -

October - Tell Your Scariest Story
jamilyne 102668 replied to 5.0junkie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The scariest thing that has happened to me is that my ex-husband got killed at work in 10/2010. I have been remarried for almost 10 years, but it scared me because I'm the only parent my kids have. (Now 23, 22 & 15). Part of the reason I did this surgery is because I didn't want to leave them without somebody. (I have other family, but it's not the same). Because of his death I feel a big responsibility as a parent. I told the anesthesiologist when he put me under to take good care of me because my ex husband died and I'm all my kids have left - he said I would be fine - I was tearing up when I went to sleep. I hope to be around a long time! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
