I've had a lot going on too CG - my father-in-law is at John Hopkins with heart failure & multiple blood clots. My 15 year old daughter has a congenital heart problem & went to cardiologist on Friday and will most likely need open heart surgery soon (waiting for dr to call me) they are transferring her file to Miami Children's Hosp to see if and when she will have surgery. I'm so stressed too / I hope your father-in-law is better and your work issues get straightened out! If I hadn't had the band - the stress would have had me & I would have been eating all the time! This is not about exercise but accountability- went to Red Lobster for lunch - had a chicken Caesar salad (vinegrette dressing) no croutons & DID NOT have one of those amazing biscuits! So so hard! I didn't even eat half of the salad! I wanted one of those biscuits so bad but I didn't do it - I was proud of myself!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -

I had surgery on 9/13/13 (Friday) and returned to work on Tuesday. I have a desk job and everyone was really nice. I made it but as soon as I got home I had to take a pain pill and actually every day that first week. I didn't take any pain pills while at work and I just took that one at night. I basically did nothing but go to work. My husband and kids had to help out at home. After the first week I was feeling better. If you have the time off - take it. I didn't have the sick days left. Don't feel bad - I think it happens to all of us! I still get those evil cravings at times! I notice it the most when I'm stressed & it sounds as though you've been very stressed! I used to just eat to make myself feel better, but if I'm hungry now I try to eat some green Beans or something. I put some salt & pepper on them and I don't use a fork (lol). They are like 40 calories for a cup so I'm not doing any damage and I stop when I'm full! I'm just weird but it helps me. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk -
Does it hurt much- the gas hurts the worse. My incisions didn't really hurt that bad. I felt better at day 5. Just take your pain medications as needed and walk. Walking will help get rid if some of the gas pains. You can ask your doctor before leaving the hospital if you can have gas-x strips also ask if you can use a heating pad. Warm tea also helped me. If you want the slim fast shakes to taste better - they really do taste good in the blender with ice - it makes it frothy and adds a little different texture. I love chocolate royale ones. You'll make it through, it's just hard. Good luck I wish you the best! • doing your slim fast that way should be ok if you are allowed to have Water, it shouldn't be a problem (as you are just adding the ice). Easy clothes to come home in (button down shirt & pull up pants, comfy button down pjs. I'm not sure if you need anything else - they will prob provide most things. Maybe some Chapstick, book or magazines for something to do. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Also sugar free chocolate pudding helps me during those times. You can get the Jello brand in the refrigerated section and they have some good flavors for about 60 calories! If you buy the hunts Sugar Free Chocolate pudding (not in fridge section) it has 30% Calcium and about 60 calories / that helps me! I haven't drank any diet soda since I weaned myself off during my pre-op surgery diet. If you're craving something different to drink / try crystal light ( I love peach tea / there's also other flavors to kind-of change it up! Just a suggestion Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

I was banded on 9/13. I use my fitness pal religiously, started a gym 2 weeks ago. Was going to the gym every other day - but this week I've been every single day!!!!! My calories are around 750 to 850 per day - had my first fill on 10/15 and I haven't lost a single pound in about a week and a half. I'm frustrated !!!!!!!!!!!! I have about 65-70 pounds left to go. I've lost about 23. I was losing about a pound a day in the beginning, then about 1/2 pound a day then nothing. I know that this is a process and I'm not looking to get smaller overnight - but jeez this is freakin killing me!! I did lose .4 pounds for my October weigh in, but gained it back. Just frustrated! The thing about me going to the gym: I want to be accountable so I wouldn't want anyone thinking that I am working out like crazy. I am out of shape and really only walked for exercise before my band (if that). But since I've joined the gym I am shooting for 1 mile on the treadmill each time I go. If I can do more than I do. I up the incline to .5 and I try to average my speed about 3.2 to 3.5 and try to go at least 4.0 for a little more each time. I know that I need to do strength training, but I have to wait until I'm 8 weeks out from surgery date. Plus that should help me gain some endurance. Thank you for your support & encouragement. I need it ! Pretty : you've mentioned before those Protein shots that you get at Walmart - do you mind giving me the name? I know I'm probably not eating enough protein. Maybe that will boost me up! Oh - one more thing - with my fitness pal you can add food in before you eat it to see the calorie/fat content ahead of time - you might just change your mind! Then there's a delete feature so you can just remove it. It's surprising sometimes to see how many calories/fat & carbs are in done foods - there's no telling how many calories I are before getting banded!!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
