Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
jamilyne 102668 replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not sure why people just can't be geniunely happy for each other, but they can't. I think most of us has had someone who has treated us differently after finding out that we either had wls or going to have wls. Do what makes you happy. If your "friend" really cared about you - they'd be happy for you. Its really sad that it had to come to such a stupid reason. -

what is the real reason I became obese?
jamilyne 102668 replied to leeann71's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think these kinds of threads are really good for all of us - to figure out why we became overweight. Most of us has either had our wls or in the process of it & now that we've addressed our weight, we can address the underlying cause. Keeps things in perspective when you hear each other's journey! -
Cats Vs Dogs (Share your pet pics)

I have a dog & a cat. My dog is a 14 yr old collie - Honey. Our little kitten is Jasper. He's about 2-1/2 months old. Can't imagine my life without my pets! -
Rj -your husband's response cracked me up! I adore pop tarts! I haven't had any since my surgery. I love the ends of the pop tart when it just comes out of the toaster - yum just have a little if you want - I wouldn't even blame you

I've been on here for a little while and to be honest I get Madame's side and everyone else's. I do try to be encouraging to everyone and I need encouragement sometimes too. Posts do get redundant and you feel like you are saying the same things over & over again. But, to me it's different people asking and I think they may need encouragement. However, I don't blame Madame for her rant - we all need to vent sometimes & I have before too. When you "rant" on here you open yourself up for all sorts of responses. That's why I don't "rant" I just keep it to myself, but the rant section is just that - to rant!

Negative Nellie's & Ignorant Ian's.........
jamilyne 102668 replied to BRANDNEWME813's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At first you will hear everyone's thoughts on wls being this or that ... negative or positive whichever. Then after you have had wls, you will hear "should you be eating that?" or "how much weight have you lost" - so the comments really never end. There's a lady at my work who is about 50, she's beautiful and in great shape - she looks like she's 30.(I live in Miami where plastic surgery is just an every day thing.) She honestly just has good genes, she has never been overweight. Every time she sees me she asks - how much weight have you lost? what kind of exercise are you doing? oh, you are still on the treadmill? you need to work out more? OMG ... I'm like, I'm doing the best that I can. She comments that I look great, but that I need to do this or that. No matter where you are in your weight loss journey there will be people out there who are going to comment. Either they are like: "you need to lose weight" then you decide on wls then they are like: "wls blah blah" .. then you lose weight and they say things like "should you be eating that" or "that's all the weight you've lost". SO - you never win ... do it for yourself -

No matter which wls you chose - it's not a walk in the park. There's a lot that you have to give up, but It's a lot better than being obese. People that are thin definitely don't understand, because it's not their thing/ their vice. Everyone has one, ours is food. Everyone here has tried and tried on their own and had to resort to wls. Wls isn't cheating it's a chance at a better life. Some people are not ever going to understand, just keep your head up and know that you've made the right decision for you! -
Most of you all probably know me, but I need some encouragement! I've lost 63 pounds but I'm stuck. I need motivation to work out and to really watch what I eat! I haven't really gained any weight it's just I'm unmotivated and need that spark I had in the beginning. I just feel blah and I've been over stressed personally & any encouragement would be helpful! Thanks

I was whining earlier this week and I went down a size - wearing size 12 dress. Me & my mom today Happy Mother's Day! -
Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
jamilyne 102668 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started out at a size 22 - I recently bought a dress in a size 12!!!!! I was so happy and it fits (not too tight). However, I am in a size 14 pants still. I would love to be a size 6. And to me the numbers do matter because that means success and that I'm getting smaller -
I had severe diarrhea after surgery. If the doctor lets you have immodium, make sure you get the BRAND name. Don't get the store brand its not the same. That pain that you are feeling is most likely gas pain. You need to walk alot, sip warm liquids and see if you can use a heating pad. The gas X helps really well too. I hope you feel better soon. I felt much better after about the 4th day or so - like others have said, it was surgery and you are going to have some pain and discomfort. It does go away and you will get better! Take good care of yourself - you are on your way!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I need all of your words! And I do not want to go back to the ways of the past. I'm just in a funk .. I think I am going to call the doctor today and make an appointment to get a fill. I've only had one fill since I was banded and maybe that will help also. CG - I need you to whip me back into reality (THANKS) and I did look at that picture and I look like a blob sitting on the couch. -
Big Girl Panties - My husband and I got married 04-04-04
-
I say - do what you and your fiance want to do! If you want to get married at the courthouse and have an intimate reception afterwards I think its great! It will be romantic because you are in love and it will still be your wedding day. You can still make it very special and intimate for the two of you! You are adorable anyways, but you could always do your hair, get a pretty dress (if you want) and still look beautiful on your wedding day. Do what makes you both happy - seriously!

Yes, go up to your profile and choose "my surgery". You will find current weight - you can change it right there. Hope this helps

Let me tell you a story
jamilyne 102668 replied to Elizabeth Parker Caldwell's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Elizabeth, I am so very sorry about your loss! That pain has to be the most unimaginable pain that any one person could go through. When anyone starts this journey through wls, you just have to know that you are not going to be always able to keep up with your weight or health - that something in your life may come up and you won't be able to put your weight loss first anymore. Its good that you were able to get things going again with your doctor. Please don't beat yourself up or feel bad in any way that you had to "take a break" from this. I guess this is why we have wls - maybe not to think about it or to put our weight aside for once in our lives. You will continue you on your journey when you are ready and I am happy that you are starting to live again. Do things that make you happy - you deserve it! -
Have had a lot of good things happen to me over the last couple of days (personally). I have been dealing with a lot of stress lately and I think my luck is changing
-
Mine was off too. Also once you start losing weight consistently, it may continue to change some also I'm sure you are ok
