Emotional Struggle
jamilyne 102668 replied to elmartin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is hard - I've been through it and it sucks! It sucks that some people can eat anything and some people can't! I also have an addiction to food so I've been through it too! You have to keep your mind off it somehow - brush your teeth when you are hungry, try to get outside and walk- even just a little - the sun and the air helps! Drink Water - I used to think that was crap and how can water help, but it honestly does! I wish you the best of luck - you are going to be ok - just try your very best and we are all on your side! It's worth it! You are worth it! -

I think another NSV is passing up a food that you know you either can't have or it's not good for you that you really truly want! I passed up something today that I really wanted but I didn't do it! -

Someone mentioned throwing away food. I have come to peace with the fact that I can't finish a whole meal and when I can I divide it up and bring it home & eat it for the next meal. Sometimes I'm not able to - and I'm making peace with that too. -
Is there any foods that you totally miss?

I went to a baby shower at a fancy place on Miami beach today- they served French toast! I passed it up - and I had a little fruit. Gosh - French toast used to be one of my favorites! -

I had the hardest time finding exercise clothing when I first started exercising too. I had to settle for the Walmart stuff because I honestly couldn't find it anywhere else. Nike, Adidas and all those other brand names don't make big girl sizes. I just worked out in a Capri-type leggings and a tshirt. I thought I would make a killin if I came up with some kind of exercise line of clothing for women Congrats on the NSVs! Happy for ya -
Amazing! You also look great!

I've too had problems with a couple of people regarding me having wls. I can't understand why people just can't be happy for someone, but they can't. You have your surgery, hold your head up and only talk about it with the ones in your life that are supportive! You are trying to make your life better and you do that - With or without the support of a few! I just know that you are going to be ok and you will lose weight! Take care & keep us posted! ????

1. Losing weight is better than any food that I've ever eaten! 2. Getting on that scale and seeing those pounds come down is better than gorging and binging on food! 3. Losing weight during the holidays! 4. Being able to eat small meals and being satisfied! Those are the main things being banded has done for me! And I definitely feel better emotionally and physically! -
Yes me either Steph! It is very noticeable

How do you deal with stress?
jamilyne 102668 replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I literally take it one day at a time. I have had to learn that there are some things I can't change. Sometimes I have to say to myself - ok what is the main thing I have to do today, then what and then what's next. In recent years I have had to deal with my daughter's heart condition, my ex-husband dying suddenly (accident at work), losing a home, moving out of state, switching jobs, my daughter in college far away, clinical depression and my son being addicted to pain medication. I had to step back from all of this and put myself first because what good was I to anyone - if I couldn't even take care of myself. My son is ok now, I have a great job, the move was better for my husband and I, the house was a big money pit, and I'm a lot healthier. I've had urges with food and I have sat there with baked green Beans eating them one after the other instead of chips when I've had that binge feeling - Lol -
Food(s) you thought you loved...
jamilyne 102668 replied to steph2012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I eat more like a vegetarian now - I eat a lot of chicken and fish. I don't really have red meat that often at all, maybe 2x a month. I used to eat red meat all the time! I have said that I could never be a vegetarian lol. It's not really on purpose I just don't crave it and it sickens me a little with the fat content in hamburger meat while cooking it in the pan. -
In Miami - not trying to rub it in! I have family in the mid-west and they've gotten hammered this winter & my oldest daughter is going to school in Maryland and she's gonna get hammered this time! My thoughts go out to all of you! Stay warm and be safe driving!

If you are ever wondering if you've ever helped that one person - it's me (and ALOT of others just on here) imagine what hope you can give others who's lost their hope just by doing that commercial and reaching out! Obesity can be a very sad and lonely disease! -

Escalator is down - took the stairs - didn't even break out in a sweat and wasn't hyperventilating! (Lol) was a breeze! Before when the escalator was out had to walk one step at a time and I was about to die when I got to the top of the stairs - face red & out of breath! -

I love love love food - hence why I was the chubby girl. But this is a list of food that I love and can't eat because I just know I couldn't stop: Lasagna; Hot bread; Spaghetti; Pizza - New York style oozing with cheese (lol); Mac n cheese; Cheese doodles; Juicy cheeseburger with a bun; Baked ziti; Shortbread cookies; Girl Scout cookies -
100+ POUNDS DOWN

That is so great! I am so happy for you!!!!!! -
I try to keep my intake under 1000 - it's usually 800-1000, sometimes I go over a little. I love nuts and that is what usually puts me over just a little, because they are high in calories but also high in protein. I've had one fill since being banded on 9/13. I too have been through the starving phases, but maybe try to up the protein and you should feel better

Last Rites Meal
jamilyne 102668 replied to Ossama El Maghraby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My personal opinion - Eat up! The week before my pre-surgery diet I ate everything that I wanted - all my favorite foods! After you have surgery there is so much that you can't do (you get used to it - you really do) but there will be no eating like you did before! Take advantage and savor every morsel! Because you are going to be taking in a lot of Protein shakes and liquids then to mushy food for awhile! Eat a piece of hot bread for me!!! Lol Good luck
