8 Days Post Op and Feelimg Great!
ShastaPants posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone and Happy Friday! I had surgery on 9/12. Felt okay after surgery and tried to go back to work on Monday, too soon for me. Tuesday and Wednesday at work was really difficult and I was exhausted! Yesterday was better and today I feel great! No more gas and just mild discomfort around the port. I am still not hungry. I moved to thicker liquids yesterday and thought I really wanted egg drop Soup. I tried it but it just did not taste good to me...strange. The best part is that I have lost 20 pounds including 10 days of pre-op diet. I am feeling so positive about the future! Having lunch at school with my daughter today (or watching her have lunch) and then off to the gym for some treadmill time. I am so happy to have found this forum so I can learn from everyone. I am scheduled for my first fill on October 11th. Did anyone else have a fill just 4 weeks pre-op? How are the other September bandsters doing? Sorry about the title, too early for spelling! -

Do you mind if I ask how much they added at your first fill? Could you tell a difference? -

I agree! I had a C-Section with my last one so after the surgery and I kept thinking, well it's not as bad as a C-Section. I am looking forward to mushies next week. Good luck and stay in touch! -
Stomach cancer? I thought it was good for you. I was a coffee addict, have cut down to just the weekends over the last month. This was mostly because I can't drink it without french vanilla creamer. I am now getting used to the sugar free version.

Battling nausea after surgery
ShastaPants replied to Kelli1016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc gave me phenagan (spelling?) Suppositories. They worked in about 15 minutes. I would aboid gingerale ad it is carbonated and that is a no-no, especially right after surgery. -
Had surgery on 9/12 and tried to go back to work on 9/16....too soon. I teach at a college and have been doing half days this week. Feeling better every day. Mostly sore around the port site.

Port needs to be replaced :(
ShastaPants replied to hopefulinNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just out of curiosity, what do the charge to replace the port or flip it back over? -
Hi All! I had surgery last Thursday (9/12). Most of the gas pain and shoulder pain is gone. I do feel pain under the larger incision where the port is. It does not bother me very much when standing but it is making it uncomfortable to sit at a desk. I hope this will pass soon. Today was my first day back at work. I am tired! I am sure I will be better later this week. I haven't been hungry at all. I am just not interested in food. I am on clear liquids now and will move to thicker liquids on Thursday. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing!

Going back to work on Monday!
ShastaPants replied to Ms. Purt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am jealous of your recovery time! I had surgery last Thursday and attempted to go back to work today (Monday). Let's just say it did not happen. I am feeling good but am tired. I also didn't realize how bloated I was. I will be taking it easy the rest of this week. -
In a pinch if I am really craving something sweet, I will have a pickle. There is something about the sour taste that removes the sweet craving. Another trick is to brush your teeth.

Banded 9/12/13 & starving
ShastaPants replied to princesstuiaki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I was banded on 9/12 as well. I do not feel hungry but my tummy has certainly been rumbling. The thought of real food right now makes me queasy. I have found that the Protein shakes work pretty well. I just drink them slowly while the family has dinner. I also LOVE the Popsicles (sugar free). I am also out walking as much as possible to move that gas around. Had a shower yesterday and felt like a new person! Are you on Clear liquids for a week and then thicker liquids? That is my post op diet. From there I will go to mushies. I don't know about you, but for me the shoulder pain has been worse than the abdominal pain. This is especially true when I do the breathing exercises, it feels like someone is stabbing me in the shoulder! Keep in touch and let me know how you are progressing! -
Bariatric Advantage has an unflavored protein shake. It is not cheap at $60 for a large container.

4 days post op. feeling horrible! help?
ShastaPants replied to caitlin_new_band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been having nightmares that I am cooking and end up nibbling on something and get sick. It is funny how our minds work! -
i am scared. i think am a failure and would never make it.
ShastaPants replied to newgemma2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was just banded a few days ago and I totally understand your fears. The way I look at it is that the band helps with the physical part of losing weight but not the emaotional part. I am looking for a therapist to help with the emotional part and find out why I eat and how to better manage those feeling. I firmly believe that everyone has their own demons to deal with. Unfortunately, if you are overweight it is something everyone can see. Think positive and you are going to do great!!! -
4 days post op. feeling horrible! help?
ShastaPants replied to caitlin_new_band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. This is my second day after surgery. I think something that has helped me is walking. They had me up and around right after surgery. The night I came home after the surgery I went for a 30 minute walk and I am doing that everyday. I don't want to do it, I feel tired and sore but once I am out for the walk I feel so much better and the gas starts to dissapate. I am trying to get in as much water as I can and have also found hot tea to be very soothing. I also found a protein shake that I really like and can easily dring - Muscule Milk Light, Chocolate. I have noticed if I go too long with out the pain medication I get very cranky and irritated. Hang in there, it will get better. Take your mind off of it, read a book, find a hobby, etc... -
Banded yesterday, freaking out today! :( Lots of discomfort
ShastaPants replied to matilda85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I was banded yesterday as well. Pain is getting better. I think the gas pain in the shoulder hurts more than the abdomen. The pain is terrible when I do my breathing exercises, like someone is stabbing me in the shoulder. I am walking 30 minutes a day and moving around every hour.I have never been less hungry! I had to make myself drink 2 protein shakes. I am loving hot tea! -
Just arrived at the hospital. Feeling a little nervous and excited.

Made it home from surgery about an hour ago. Everything went great and I am moving around just fine. To be honest, the gas in the shoulder is worse than the soreness in the abdomen. I have lots of Gas X and am walking to get it to move out. I had a great experience with the doctor and staff at True Results in Houston. Looking forward to the next steps and a healthier me!

Very encouraging! I am at the hospital now waiting for surgery....
