Crushing Medications
mylapspirit replied to BandZski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking my meds whole since Day 1. Even in the hospital they gave them to me whole. But of course you should check with your doctor before you take my advice. shelli:ranger: -
Your Welcome! Yes it must be a lot harder with young children at home and not to mention those exhausting teenagers. My son is 31 and lives out of town so its just me and the dog. Good luck to you Missy. I hope you will feel better soon. shelli:ranger:

Cool! Remind me near that time and I will give you my son's email and and cell phone and you guys can meet! Or maybe you can start communicating thru email now - let me talk to my son this weekend and see what he thinks about this - okay? shelli:ranger: -
I have been banded about 3 1/2 weeks and I felt more tired etc. the second week. Actually I have just started feeling like my old self again the last two days. So my advice is to give in to the fatigue and get as much sleep as possible. I was going to bed at 9 and getting up about 12 hours later. I think your body heals this way. Just remember even though you are healed on the outside you probably are still healing on the inside that is why we can't lift heavy items for about 4 to 6 weeks and no vacuuming for 3 weeks. Also make sure you are getting your required protein and liquids. Hope this helps. shelli:ranger:

Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend on LBT?
mylapspirit replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Boo Boo Kitty, I don't know why he is still single. I ask that question to myself everyday! His father and I have been married for 32 years and most of those years have been very happy. Of course we have had some ups and downs but we've basically had a good strong family life. We are pretty cool parents too(if I do say so myself). I ask myself did I do something wrong when I raised him up. He is kind of shy when it comes to women. In his early twenties he had to drink too much to get up the nerve to ask girls out and then that became a problem so he had to work that out and is now fine. All I can say is he is very picky who he dates and loves loves loves golf. Don't get me wrong - I am glad he didn't get some girl pregnant and have to marry her for all the wrong reasons at a young and tender age but now he has had his fun, sown his wild oats, and needs to settle down. I really don't meddle in his life - lol - I just know deep down that he would like to have a family some day and I don't want him to grow old alone. I don't know why I am telling you all this but--------------------well do you have any single friends??? lol Bye for now. shelli:ranger::ranger: -
Question about the constipation post surgery...
mylapspirit replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Rain, Know the problem. Try taking a stool softener like Colace or generic equivalent. One in the morning and one:ranger: before bedtime. Works like a charm. FaithMD also swears by Baby Apple-Prune juice but i just can't do the prune juice thing. shelli -

What's your restriction pattern?
mylapspirit replied to Wheetsin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have only had my band for about 3 weeks now and am still on puree/mushie foods but yesterday I just did not feel full all day - and ate my way up to about 1100 calories - I am supposed to stick to 800 right now - but today I only ate 700 calories and could not eat another bite of food if there was a gun to my head. Don't have TOM cuz I am in the process of menopause. Has anyone else experience this because yesterday I was scared I was returning to my old habits. I am journalling all my calories and protein intake. Today ate about 95% protein. thanks, shelli:ranger: -
Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend on LBT?

If anyone lives in the Phoenix, Arizona area I know a great single guy that needs a lady friend. He is 31 years old, works for a reputable firm, is tall, handsome and is an all around nice guy. He just relocated from North Carolina last December. He loves to golf, go to concerts, and sports events, travel, loves dogs, cooks and does dishes, does his own laundry, is intelligent, comes from a well educated and kind family from the East Coast and would be a wonderful catch for someone just as nice. He wants to find a nice caring lady and wants to have children some day. As you probably guessed he is my son so I guess I am a little biased. So if you have any interest al all you can pm me and ----------oh, he is very tall 6"4" and weighs about 230 lbs., athletic build. p.s. he would kill me if he knew I was doing this Thanks, shelli:ranger: -
Yes, I can't believe how much has already changed in the 3 and 1/2 weeks since I have been banded. I still have days where the road is a little harder to climb but most days I have just sailed thru. The preop diet was the hardest for me - much more than post op so I know what you must be feeling right now but hang in there because it is so worth it. shelli:girl_hug:

Hi! I noticed many people after surgery are complaining about nausea so I decided to write and tell you what worked for me. When the anesthesiologist came to talk to me before surgery he asked me what kind of side affects I had before with anesthesia so I explained to him I got very nauseous and vomited so he said he would give me something for the nausea right in my IV during the surgery. After the surgery I experienced no nausea and all the nurses thought I was doing very well and my color looked good. The nurses said that many of the girls get very nauseous after the surgery but my experience was good so I thought I would pass this along. Good luck to all with your surgeries. shelli:ranger:

Julie, 65 pounds is a wonderful weight loss especially since you only have 40 pounds to go. I have read many of your posts preband and always learned so much from them, so thank you! Hang in there! We're all in this together. shelli:girl_hug:

Thank you! I don't know what drug the anesthiologists used but it worked for me! How are you doing? shelli:ranger:

Great to hear from all of you! Have a good day today and I will be thinking of you all! shelli:girl_hug: -
Also Dee Dee something happens during this pre op liquid diet - my mind went from how am I ever going to be able do this to I CAN do this - I can't really explain it in words. shelli

The first three days are the hardest. I didn't believe it either but after the third day it just got easier. Sort of second nature type thing. Get some SF popsicles and SF Jello to fill in the empty holes. You are so worth doing this for you. Your surgery will go better if you do this. Like Boo Boo Kitty said You Can Do This! shelli:ranger:

Banding set for August 27!!

Hi Light ER NYC, Yes I had a little homemade Tuna Noodle Casserole today and didn't puree it. :eek:It was really soft so I just chewed real well but I had nausea this evening so I think I am paying the price for it. Back to pure mushies for 2 more weeks. What is your next phase of the diet? Do you go to Soft Foods or Right to Solids. Take care, shelli:girl_hug:
