Meds - Is There Anyone Out There???
mylapspirit replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:omg: Wow your are awesome to be able to chew them - Yuck!!! One of my hypertension pills is time release - a large capsule - I guess I will have to check with my doc on that one. Thank you for your reply! -
Hi Chubbola, By any chance do you have BCBS of Alabama? I just wondered because I was denied at first too. My BMI is 59 but my doctor had to write a letter saying it was medically necessary as he has been treating me for morbid obesity for over 11 years. We just resubmitted the letter and are awaiting for a response from the insurance company. YOU CAN lose those 12 pounds - you know you can - take care and hang in there. shelli:girl_hug:

Help With Taking Pills!!
mylapspirit replied to areellady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I have been watching for your threads because I am preop. Would you be allowed to cut them up in halfs and/or quarters - then take with water??? Hope you are feeling better today but I understand because I am on six different meds per day. :) -
READ THIS B4 BEING BANDED...My Experience
mylapspirit replied to Krystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Kyrstal, I was wondering if you thought about trying a Water aerobics class. I too am over 350 pounds and have trouble with my legs. But the water aerobics has been a godsend. It makes me feel about 10 years younger and I have alot more energy too. I exercise in the water for about sixty minutes so I know I am burning off some calories. Even if you can get to a pool and just walk in the water that helps too. Thank you for the wonderful posts and your honesty. They are very inspiring to a prebander. -
Pre-Op With Huge Concerns

Hello! Betsyjane. Thanks for the post with examples on your Daily Intake!!! I am still trying to imagine life as a bandster and your post helped. Sounds like you are doing awesome!!! Did you have to stay on a liquid diet after the banding for very long after surgery??? Well have a good day - hope the sun is shining where you are? -

READ THIS B4 BEING BANDED...My Experience
mylapspirit replied to Krystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi kyrstal, thank you so much for your honest and candid post. i am pre-op right now and waiting for a date with the surgeon. everyday I wake up and worry about the pre-op diet and wonder if I will be able to stick to the liquid only part too. I currently weigh 380 pounds, 52 years old, and am out of options. My whole body hurts daily - back, knees, feet, etc. I have tried every diet known only to lose 30 or 40 pounds and then gain it all back. I am ashamed and everyone thinks I am weak and out of control. I have no self-confidence and such low self esteem that I can't even go out and get a parttime job. :embarassed: :cry Your post has answered so many internal questions I have had about the banding which are not covered at our monthly support meetings. I hope you are successful in your new goals and I will be watching to see how you do. Thank you for being such an inspiration to us all.:clap2: Take care, shelli -
I was told, Im ruining my surgery
mylapspirit replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hotpink bubbles: When you had the surgery did the surgeon give you blood thinners to prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis? They would have been shots in your tummy ( I think)? I am just surprised at your complication because you are so young. Also, don't beat yourself up over the breadstick. You are only human and allowed to make a few mistakes. -
Hi berry, I can sympathize with you because it sure is gloomy here in PA too. It is supposed to snow today. The only thing that keeps me going is seeing my perennials push up from the ground. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. Wish we needed our sunglasses.

I need to know what happens if you self pay for your lap band but then you have unexpected complications occur i.e. a heart attack, a stroke, band slippage, erosion, etc. that you did not budget for............ Couldn't these possibly leave you and your family bankrupt if you had to pay for these out of pocket? Please advise.

Has anyone tried the Ensure or Boost shakes? If you have another preference please advise. Thanks!!! :help:

Hi maziemommy, your note cheered me up. Thank you! Not to worry though I am determined to fight this ins. setback with all my might. Sounds like you are doing fantastic - 24 pounds down you are definitely on your way. Sounds like your doc has less stringent rules for post op as we have to be on liquid diet for three weeks after surgery, then three weeks pureed, then three weeks soft and mushy, and then we can introduce solid foods. Count your blessings!!! Have you had any PBs yet or Sliming??? Are you scared about your fills? Everyone says there not too bad. Did you have to drink high protein shakes? What was your favorite? Keep up the good work and I'll talk to you real soon. shelli:girl_hug: -

mylapspirit replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi maziemommy, I am a little depressed because I just found out from the surgeons office that I was not approved for the surgery. They need more information from my PCP. So I called my PCP and told them to fax this information asap to the surgeon who in turn will resubmit to the insurance company. I will do anything they want to have this surgery because I know it is what I need to live a longer, healthier life. I really appreciate your followup note to me and I hope you are doing great!!! I am not giving up yet. I will jump thru any hoops they want me to to get this approved. Thanks shelli -
Psych eval...3 visits???

three visits seem excessive unless they find you have issues. also I don't think they should charge an extra fee for the paperwork -
