A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
mylapspirit replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Smilin' Apple, My preop diet is 6 Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfasts Shakes per day - 3 for meals and 3 for snacks. You can also have SF Jello, SF Popsicles, SF drinks(no soda), and some FF broth. I think the calorie count is about 1000. Mix the powder with 1% milk. Drink 8 glasses of water, too. I am on Day 3 and lost 5 pounds already. Day 1 and Day 2 were rough but Day 3 seems easier so far. Good Luck to you and keep in touch. shelli:ranger: -

Whosyadaddy, that is the way I felt all day - that I just wanted to stay in bed all day and just get up to let the dog out and drink one of those awful shakes but I did make it through Day 2. No more food tonite. Tomorrow is a new day. I have heard from others that the preop is the absolute worse thing you have to go thru. Were you scared or nervous before the surgery? Did you have to stay the night at the hospital? Did you have a lot of pain? I am lucky that I never got addicted to soda. I am a water drinker so that part is easy for me. What is your favorite muse - sweet or salty? -

Candle Yes lets be diet buddies! I see that you are in New York - I am your neighbor here in Pennsylvania! I like your tips on what to add to the shakes. I am determined to get thru this cheat free but I am only taking this one day at a time. Tomorrow is day 3 for me and "they" say it gets better after that. Did your doctor tell you how much he wants you to lose? Thanks for everything!!! -

New post-ops.....what are you eating/drinking?
mylapspirit replied to JudiM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
JudiM, I am not postop yet but I do love to cook so I bought this book called EATING WELL AFTER WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. It is written by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray and I bought from Amazon.com. If you are a gourmet cook I think you would like it plus it has recipes for all the stages of LapBand postop. -

Liquid Preop Diet Journal

I think my calorie goal is about 1000 calories. I called the nutritionist today and she said I had to drink all 6 of the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks so I would get all the Protein in. But I can only do about 3 maybe 4 - so far I have had only about 775 calories. Thanks for the reply! -

Hi Candle, thank you for the encouraging words. Your preop diet does sound a little better than mine. Mine is 6 SF Carnation Instant Breakfasts, Clear broth, SF Jello and Popsicles, Crystal Lite, and Water. Thats is it. Do you like the unjury? Do you mix it with water or milk? That was smart of you to walk today too. I bet you feel great. Thank you for writing - we have the same band date WhoooooHooooooo!! -

Hi again! My doctor has me on all liquids for 12 days. I am to have 6 SF Carnation Instant Breakfasts per day along with SF Jello, Popsicles, Drinks, and if necessary FF broth. That's all. I am on Day 2. Day 1 went very well - I tracked my calories at about 590 and protein at about 53 grams. I was only able to get in 3 of the Carnation Breakfasts. I got on the scale this morning (I know I shouldn't have) and lost 3 pounds already. Went to bed hungry and woke up hungry. I just hope these next twelve days go by quickly. Thanks for all your support and have a great day! Michelle:ranger: -

Hi Losingjustme, Thanks for the reply. I currently weigh 387 and my doctor scared me Monday when he mentioned they might not be able to do it lap. I have seen your pictures and you look awesome and you are doing awesome! I hope I can do as well as you! Did you have to do a liquid preop? I am on Day 1 - just figured out my calories on Fit Day.com and they came to 590. My body probably is in shock right now. I look forward to reading more of your posts and thanks again. Hi I would like to join this thread because as you can see from my Ticker that I qualify!!! I was wondering if anyone on this thread was unable to have the banding laparascopily and had to have it put in as an open incision. My doctor said that if they can't do it lapara. they will have to resort to the open. Did this happen to anyone out there? My surgery date is August 27th and I started Day One of the preop diet today. Thanks, Michelle:ranger: -
Ok. This liquid diet stinks---help me!!
mylapspirit replied to claramae's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started my liquid diet today so I know what everyone is going thru. I went to my weekly woman's sewing club and they served cherry cobbler with ice cream. I brought two sugar free jellos and had those and felt very satisfied with them. I feel proud of myself and have challenged myself to try this liquid preop diet with no cheating. I have to be able to look the surgeon in the eye on surgery day and tell him I did well on the preop. Come on everyone let's do the challenge together! We can do it! It is only 2 weeks out of our life and we will be so glad for it when it is thru. Please join me as I need all the support I can muster! I hope I feel this optimistic in 2 days! Michelle:ranger: P.S. Going to go have my broth now for dinner! Yummmmmmm! -

Jim, Were you still able to have the sugery done laparascopically? Please advise as my surgery is August 27th. Thanks, Michelle:ranger: -
Hi! Went to sign the consent forms today and when the nurse took my blood pressure it read 170/105. It has never been this high before. I usually run 140/85 and I am on all sorts of meds. The surgeon said if it is this high on the day of surgery the anesthesiologists will not put be under and I won't be able to have the surgery. Did anyone else have this problem???:ranger:

Hi losing just me - my mom gets leg cramps alot and her doc told her to drink tonic Water with lime or lemon in it - also our newspaper doctor advisor recommends putting a bar of deoderant soap at the foot of your bed under the sheets. Use anything but Dial - people swears this works and the doc doesn't know why---- good luck to you:ranger:
