Day 4 post op and I just want to feel normal
joly37 replied to kimmykat82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Kimmy, You are not alone. I am 2 week post op today and the first week was really hard for me. I found the only place I could rest was on the couch. I slept there for the first week. Use pillows to prop yourself up. Great news is....it does get better!!! The first week I questioned myself all the time...."Why the heck did I do this." Just be patient...it does get much much better. -

Hi Stivers, I was l banded two weeks ago today. I was like you. A lot of pain both gas and muscles. I could barely sit up by myself. The good news is it gets better!!! Every day you feel an improvement. Hang in there.

Hi Everyone, I was banded on August 16th. Since then I've been maintaining a 500-600 daily calorie intake. I noticed now that since my swelling in subsiding I feel like I could use more. Yesterday my intake was around 700. I was wondering what some of you find as a comfortable calorie intake where you are not hungry.

Have you tried blending some thicker soup with a little bit of milk. I do this and even though you are still drinking it feels like you are taking in more substance. -
Weight loss at six days post-op
joly37 replied to PJkitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first post op appointment is tomorrow. Today is day 10 since surgery. I did weight myself on my own scale this morning and I was down 13 pounds. Of course the my scale and the doctors scale could be off so I wont know for sure the accurate number till tomorrow. You should friend me. Because our surgery date and starting weight are almost identical. My starting weight was 258. As far as possibly losing 13 pounds in one week is just unbelievable to me, especially because I never had a moment where I felt starving, which is what dieting used to be about for me. I do know not to expect this amount of weight loss going forward and I don't want it. I would rather from this point on for the weight loss to be slow and steady. -

-Thank you everyone for your input, advise and support!! I have my follow-up appointment on Tuesday and regardless if my pain is still there I am going to ask the Doctor what it is from. I will post then and let you know. When taking a deep breathe the pain can be very intense. I am sure most of you can agree, that as long as it isn't anything serious, the pain that we are experiencing from surgery doesn't even compare to the inner pain we've put myself through (not to mention physical well-being) living over weight. Thank you all very much. -

2 days from surgery!!!

Ashley....GOOD LUCK!!!!...I had my surgery only a week ago today. What a difference a week makes. Remember if you are in a lot of pain after surgery it is very short term. Let me know how you do. I just signed up to this forum today and I love it, like you I think it is great to have this support group. I have been on all liquids for a week and I know it does seem weird not chewing your meal. This week I averaged between 500 to 600 calories and DO NOT FEEL HUNGRY AT ALL!!!! Amazing. Something I found helpful after surgery was getting in little walks several times a day it helps the digestive system to start moving and help relieve that excess gas they put in during surgery. Also, on the advise of my doctor, I took a stool softner one a day. BEST OF LUCK!!! -
Hi...Today marks my one week anniversary from surgery. I was banded on August 16th. I underestimated the amount of pain that I felt this week. Thank goodness I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Did anyone else experience severe pain in the rib area when breathing. At first I assumed it was related to the gas that was put into your body during surgery. (and maybe that is the reason), but still today I have a pain mainly on the left side rib cage area when taking in a deep breath. Overall feeling so much better but still have a lot of swelling and pressure. About how long can I expect the swelling and pressure to last?...Thank you!!! P.s. I just joined this forum today and am so excited to be apart of this lap band group. How exciting to have a place to go when you want to feel connected to people who will share with you in this journey.
