is there no one else here from Utah??
Angeleyes replied to fiveholts714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Utah, and yes the band is worth it. But you need to know it is a life style change. I no longer live to eat, I don't eat out very much, don't think about food alot and many times avoid it. I eat in my own home where I can eat a small amount and don't need to answer questions about why I didn't finish my meal. Look at your life style, would it be difficult not to eat as a social thing or how much time do you spend sitting at a table over food? I paid $12.500 my total savings account plus fills at $200 per pop. The plus side of this is that it does work. For some of us the weight just falls off and the rest of us still need to watch everything we put in our mouths and exercise every day. I needed to lose 60 pounds and thought I would have it all off in 1 year. Turns out I lost 31 pounds and it may take me another year to get it all off. But I have more energy and I am much happier about who I am. The difference is I used to lose 15 pounds and then put 20 pounds back on. Now it is a small steady loss of about 1/2 to 3/4 pound a week. -
I tryed it and it didn't work (Like everything else I tryed before the band).

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!
Angeleyes replied to StrawartS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is worth it for me. It just reminds me that my body has changed and it is a new life. I just find the funny stuff and hoot about that instread of getting upset. My biggest problem is I eat with people who I haven't told that I have had this surgery. I am pretty sure they think I am a nut, but it is ok. I also check out the bathroom when entering an eating place. You never know when you may need it quick! -
Lets all check in! Please report the weight you have lost in the last year and how much you have left to lose. Also what have you done in the last year that has helped you lose the weight? What have you learned? I have lost 31 pounds and it has been a hard year. I throught I would have the 60 pounds lost and be looking great.I have had 3 fills and with each one hope that this one will be the one to melt all those pounds off. My weight loss has been slow so I can't really say what has worked and what hasn't. This board has helped me more than I can say. I don't always post alot but I read your posts. Hope to hear from all of you!

I didn't tell anyone except one child and my husband. Since I have only lost 30 pounds over the last year I am glad that I didn't tell anyone else. However I do have problems because I haven't told. My husband and I eat out with other people and I have had alot of times when I have not been able to eat only a few bites of food then have put the rest in a doggie bag to take home. I am pretty sure they are thinking I have an eating issue of some kind. I usually say the food was to spicy. I may decide to come out and admit it after I lose more weight.

That is a great one! Keep up the good work.

I usually lift my arms up and down like a chicken and stretch as high as you can. I swear that helped get things moving! Just make sure no one see's you do it! -
PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

I have had two attacks like yours. I don't think I would call it PBing. It is just the food getting stuck! Once time it lasted about 5 hours and the next time about 3 hours. What happen with me is my nose starts to run and then the saliva starts to form, I think this is our bodies way of trying to eliminate the food being stuck. I had to spit the saliva in a cup because it wouldn't go down for hours. Finally vomitted up what ever was stuck. Thank goodness both times happened at home. I am trying to learn to listen to my body and when the goft ball feeling happens STOP. I do carry the baggie with the napkins in my purse or under the seat of my car. I have never heard of the meat tenderizer thing! -
This is a good day for me I was banded in April of last year and today I hit the 30 pound mark. It has been a long and hard year for me. I got a fill two weeks ago to 2.8 and it seems to be working better for me. I am really tight and not able to eat much before 2 o'clock but protein drinks but I am starting to see the scales go down.

It was $12,500 when I had it done in April of this year in Utah. That covers the surgery and the first fill. Fills after that are $200.

I have lost 24 pounds and continue to struggle to lose every pound. However I have lost one pound over the holidays. I am so happy I didn't gain! I am wondering what it would look like if we post the precentage of weight lost to goal this year instead of the pounds. I think I have lost 40% of the weight I need to lose.

Pretty much what I am doing, how much water do you drink and how much exercise?

My doctor has checked my Thyroid many times through the years because I have had issues with fatague, being cold all the time, depression and gaining weight very easily. He has always said it is ok.

raging anger and completly discouraged, who me?
Angeleyes replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Vines..... here I am reading your posts and feeling much the same, I have lost 23 pounds since April 5. Had my 3rd fill on Nov 21 and as of this morning when I weighted I have lost .50 pound since then. Each time I get a fill I eat less but it never seems to be a small enough amount. But on the other hand if I think of this loss as two sticks of butter and put them in the waist band of my jeans and them take them out. I realize that I am proud of even that small loss. I have started walking twice a day on breaks here at work and hope that may change something. Let me know what is working for you even if it is a very small thing. We need to celebrate the small stuff. -
I take Effexor and I think it has alot to do with my slow weight loss.

Must be whats wrong with me, he he.

BMI of 34-anyone out there with same??
Angeleyes replied to imalene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My BMI was a 35. I have had a hard time losing but I feel it is worth it for me. I was banded in April and I have lost 24 pounds and have had three fills and one unfill. If I hadn't done this I would have continued to gain weight and feel bad about myself. I now feel I am in control just need to work to get to my goal. -
It was 2 below here this morning.
