Preop diet how much weight lost?
gomekast replied to Kelsnikol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stick with it. It's the body trying to hold into whatever it can. Stay strong and keep going with your plan! -
So, now that I'm approved, I can't wait to get rid of half if the contents of my closet. I'm really fighting the urge..which is silly because my surgery isn't for another month. And for the record my closet is so messy and packed. My poor husband has half a shelf to use and that's it. Anyone else have this issue?!

Ready to ransack the closet..
gomekast replied to gomekast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never thought about this part of it..my husband hasn't even seen a good 90% of my actual real wardrobe! We've been together 9 years and I've been big the whole time. -

What happens at your pre op appointment at your doctors office?
gomekast replied to beauty29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on your ins. My program does pre op stuff in half day appts. First one was blood draw, psych eval, nurse clinician and bariatric dr. 2nd half day was follow up with dr, dietician, and physical therapist. My ins required very little to get approved. So, a lot of what you'll do is based on that and how your program is set up. Now that I'm approved, I see the surgeon next week after I have an ultrasound on my gallbladder. Then see the dietician one more time before surgery. -

Blue Cross Blue Sheild Federal Insurance approval
gomekast replied to sunny2day's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Different branches of BCBS have different rules. My dr office told me yesterday that most approvals are valid for either 6 or 12 months. Call up your ins and ask them. They will be able to answer that, it's usually in the notes of the approval when it was given. -
Paperwork in, little worries
gomekast replied to Healthygal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once I sent in my packet to the surgeons office, they had me in for the first half day of appts. Once I passed the psyhc eval, I got my 3 ring binder book. The first page was the list of things I needed to do at a minimum to get approval from my ins...based on what they require. Mine laid it all out and we tackled the list within a month. Good luck and this forum is an amazing tool to aid every step if the journey. I've searched all sorts of things on here and my pshyc commented that I was very well informed of the good and bad with this wls. I took this as a good sign! -

I have BCBS of ma. All of my pre op stuff took a month. Submitted to ins last week and got approval yesterday. I see the surgeon next Thursday and am looking at an end of October surgery date. My surgeons office said I was the fastest they'd ever seen get approval. Your ins company will dictate how fast you speed threw the process. Welcome and sending you luck and patience!

Get a different pcp. Sorry he didn't approve you, I'd move on to someone else more supportive. -
I was approved today! See the surgeon on the 3rd! I'm hoping for an October surgery date too!!

I was approved today also! See the surgeon next week and I will get my surgery date then...I'm so excited! I'm not nervous like some people, I'm ready for this! Next Thursday can't get here soon enough! -
I just got my approval!! I get my surgery date next week!! Hahaha! I'm so happy and want to just scream and shout!!

I'm waiting for ins to give a verdict. Waiting feels like torture. I've been calling daily to ask, not willing to just wait for the clinic to call with the news. I had psych eval, nut, EKG, labs, 2 dr visits, a nurse clinician visit, physical therapy eval...my ins doesn't initially require much to submit for approval. I'm also terrified to totally jinx it with what I write! Lol...I've lived in Coon Rapids area my whole life as well. Have never ventured too far from my Mom in CR. What clinic or program are you using for this process?

I've seen a lot of your posts and I have to agree with a few others. Maybe having another session with the therapist will help to calm the anxiety you feel. It doesn't mean your not ready by taking that step, it just means...hey, I need to talk with a professional that deals with bariatric patients all the time. No harm in that. I've been in therapy for 8 years, and I count on it now as my outlet to get out whatever is worrying me. That said, I've got a 4 & 6 year old at home. I'm not scared to die in the or from this..I'm scared to continue living the way I've been for 6 years and fearing the outcome for THEM instead. See, for me, I'm doing this for me yes...but I'm also doing this for them. I'm at peace with it. I hope you can get to that point also. Good luck.

I also get to meet my surgeon in the next two weeks! I can hardly wait too.

caffeine free protein coffee?
gomekast replied to healthy2bemomof3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can have coffee pre and post op. But it all depends on what your NUT and Surgeon say. They might have reasons for that rule. -
I've got one friend who I know is jealous because she flat out told me so. I've been keeping my distance because it's become such an issue that I'd rather not talk to her for now. Hope your situation gets better. Losing a fried over this is no fun.

how long did you wait
gomekast replied to makingadjustments's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of MA and they have to give an answer within 5 days of when it was submitted. That said, mine was submitted Monday the 16th and they said tomorrow I will have an answer on it. Crossing everything possible to get the approval! -
My husband, kids, mom, sister and boss know. No one else knows. I plan to keep it that way too. I don't want the constant questions and general nosey people to constantly bug me about it. Once I get my approval(hopefully tomorrow) I may tell one friend so she knows. But that's it.
