Day 3 Liquids...may eat my arm
gomekast replied to Mel1976's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've found that for me, using the unjury or other higher grade Protein powder stuff keeps me full longer than just about all of the store stuff. Experiment with different protein powders and see what works better than other things. -
I'd call your dr office and speak to someone about it. Sounds a little like you may need a dr to look at it to me.

I'm the day after you and getting nervous too. I'm sitting waiting on my pre op physical with my pcp. The last step before surgery. I slept like crap last night, so I'm feeling slightly like a zombie. I'm off coffee too, which just makes the whole zombie thing worse!

I started mine today also! Not hungry so far and I kept myself busy with work. -
Enjoying last night before liquid diet
gomekast replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not all surgeons require this. Mine does. Today is my first day on the liquid diet. 5 shakes a day. Find myself not hungry at all. I actually had to just make myself have a last "shake". I've been using my unjury samples, and what a difference it makes in hunger. The store stuff leaves me hungry. This stuff doesn't. I actually heated up soy milk and mixed in chocolate Protein powder. Was kind of tasteless but still ok enough to finish. -

Listen.... A poem worth reading
gomekast replied to Missj9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow...I'm in tears reading this...and in getting sleeved on the 22nd of this month. You can bet this will be going threw my head too. Thank you for sharing this, it's life altering to read in words what's gone threw my head all these years! -
I'm being pretty selective with who I tell. I know the psychological part of this...why do you feel you can't tell everyine?..but truth is, I'm not ready for everyone to have an opinion on something I'm doing to save my life. I'm the type that doesn't care what others say or think, but I still respect people enough to listen to their point. I don't want to deal with that until after I've made it threw the surgery and I am out of the complication risk stage at the beginning. The people that know are the ones I have no problems telling to relax and back off if need be. The others that I know would not be supportive won't know anything is up until the see me. Which will be later rather than sooner anyways.

Are you waiting for ins approval? Or just waiting for the next step in your process? Do you have a coordinator you could call on Monday maybe? Once I got word my stuff had been sent to ins., I called daily. Glad I did, because they lost my stuff ..twice. Try to relax over the weekend and have some peace knowing you'll make a phone call Monday just to get an answer to your anxiety! They've heard it all, so no worries!

I take 5,000 per day right now. I've taken everything from the rx 50,000 to the 10,000 over the course of last 6 years. But what seems to have helped was adding metformin for my PCOS. Once that got into me, the D started to actually rise and I felt so much better. :-)

Mine has been down in the teens for years. Just this summer I got it up to 28. Usually it hovers around 12-18.

Denial of sleep study

I did the home one and it was a breeze! Super easy! -
So, I'm getting sleeved on the 22 of this month. My husband is now analyzing everything I say since telling him the surgery date. Last night we watched restaurant commercial...and I said that before I go in on the 22nd, I'd like to go have a full meal there because afterwords, it just won't make sense for me to even do take out. I'd have two bites and be full. He turns and says..."sounds like your breaking up with an old friend.." I had to contain laughter, I was honestly pretty amused by him saying that. I told him he was reading too much into what I said. Anyone else dealing with a clueless spouse that thinks their being helpful but just aren't?!

Ok post op ladies... I'm up on the 22nd. Question for hospital..bring your own slippers or not? iPad mini or not? How many times are they checking you in the middle of the night? :-) -
Yesterday i had my surgery...
gomekast replied to beauty29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Home already? How's the pain? -
Hi there...I'm getting sleeved Oct 22. I clean for a living, cleaning out 1000 sq ft apts for the apt complex I live in. (Yes I've seen lots of disgusting things left behind) I'm wondering if anyone has a job similar and how was going back to work for you? What time frame did you go back? I've got a high tolerance for pain but want to be realistic about my return to work. Thanks for any help you guys!

Yeah, I've got samples I'm going to try this week too. I'm really sick of chocolate pure Protein right now..and I don't need to start my pre op until the 12th. But I'm going to sample the stuff I have this week and then decide what to buy in bulk. After reading how so many bought the giant tubs if this and that I thought sampling would be better. Also. I got free samples this week from Bariatric Choice, and I bought the sample pack from unjury.com. It came with a small mixer and thermometer! :-)

Ideas, suggestions, anything that you may want to share

Just make sure you sample stuff first. And keep in mind that your tastes will change post op.

Look for liquid Tylenol at cvs or walgreens. It's the adult dosage in cherry. Extra ice packs, any chewable vitamin. My program also said no to tums but yes to Zantac. I'd ask your NUT what they want you to get. I turned out to be very allergic to flintstone vitamins, so had to go with centrum woman's.

How does one locate a psychologist who specializes in overeating?
gomekast replied to Superfluous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Odds are any psychologist will be able to help. I've had one for 8 years now and she deals with everything out there. Finding the right one was more important to me than what her specialty was. I just chose one near my house. Good luck.
