When will food go down easier?
gomekast replied to callchrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 days post op and think most of my swelling is gone. I can get full liquids down no problem. Thick stuff hurts a little but this thin soupy stuff slides right down. It's actually kinda worrying me. -
Certain nausea meds cause blurry vision. Are you still taking any regularly?

This was easier than childbirth. I have two kids. Also had a hysterectomy, and this was easier than that as well.

Call your dr ASAP. They may want to see you soon as possible just to check you over. Better to be safe than sorry.

By day 5, I was fine..just hang in there best you can! The liquid phase lasts beyond surgery, so try to chin up and beat this! You can do it!

I'm 8 days post op and drink plenty of Water. Have since I woke up from surgery. Hang in there..I turned a corner around day 5-6. I had to eat lots of Jello a few days just to get in my liquids for a few days. -
3 weeks out. Protien and water
gomekast replied to mamasanch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut and drs office says to focus on getting the liquids in first. Part of that total amount can come from shakes...they told me just yesterday that the only way to hit Protein goal is by shakes at this point. So, 24 oz of my daily liquids goal is a shake of some sort. It hits my protein daily goal plus liquids goal. Calories free beverages count to that daily liquid total as well. Water was not my friend until day 7 post op. Try different things each day..it changes from day to day what your sleeve can and can not tolerate! -

High Blood Pressure and Pre-Op Physical
gomekast replied to tammyd0966's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bp went down post op! I've been trying for 4 years to get it to go down. Took this surgery to make that happen. That said, I may have had a little white coat syndrome in the past. But today's bp was a good 30 points lower on both numbers than before surgery. :-) -
Alright, so I have a question. I'm 7 days post op and cleared for full liquids today. I just had some Soup, but haven't felt full yet. I only had the 3 tablespoons as per my plan. I did stop at that and haven't had anymore. Is this normal? I had some yogurt earlier and did feel the full then. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I asked for gas stuff while I was still in the hospital. All they had was the fart drops in liquid form, but it did help. Hang in there honey! I'm one week post op today and it's a night and day difference. It will get better!

I've had the same thing happen to me..started a few weeks ago! My husband is amused but grateful!

I feel different today
gomekast replied to pjackson0523's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha! I'm grateful for crossing too! Eating Jello feels weird tho. Have you tried it? -
I had surgery the same day and today I finally feel normal. Today is the first day it's not a struggle to get my liquids in. Oh, and my program has said not to worry about the protein yet..just get the liquids in for now.

I feel different today
gomekast replied to pjackson0523's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up feeling the same exact way! Had surgery last Tuesday the 22nd. Today is the first day it's not a total struggle to get in my liquids! I drove kids to school, made bread for family..even cleaned kitchen. I also have an extraordinary amount of energy too. I like it! :-) -
Anyone else sleeved this week? Check in here!
gomekast replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery 10/22. Sleeve swollen shut first day until steroid shots were given. Now, home and struggling to get in all the liquids I should be getting. I'm on clears until I get cleared for the next stage. Walking every day, that's no issue for me. Just with these liquids..hoping it gets easier to drink! -
full liquid or pureed?
gomekast replied to kjparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I was sleeved same day as you and I'm on clear liquids until next week. I'm slightly envious that you get to taste flavors besides juice or chicken broth! -
Mine was about an hour...and I spent a good 2 hours after that in recovery.

All set for winter! I've missed the cold temps! Bring on winter!

So, yesterday I was able to go without any pain meds all day. This morning I woke up feeling like a truck ran over my tummy! I walked a ton yesterday and felt pretty normal. Had to take another dose of roxicet this morning it was so bad. Anyone else have this happen? I'm having a hard time getting my 48oz in, but really pushing myself to get there.

Day 5 of14 preop liquid diet
gomekast replied to Quenae757's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure! They didn't weigh me the day of my surgery..and my scale is different than theirs is. But I am positive it's in the 25 pound range. Started the pre op diet at 286, today my scale said 260. :-) -
Today is post op day 4 for me and it feels like the fog is lifting. sleeping a ton, which is to be expected but today I was able to handle an afternoon of shopping. Now my abs feel like I've been doing thousands of crunches! Today I've also gotten the most liquids in so far, since getting sleeved on Tuesday.

Day 5 of14 preop liquid diet
gomekast replied to Quenae757's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll have ups and downs along with pre op diet. Mine lasted 15 days. The day after I felt like crap, I'd wake up to see a loss on the scale. Just find a way to trudge threw it for now! You're setting yourself up for success by following the plan for your pre op! I took lots of hot baths the days I felt like garbage.. Your doing great! -
Go in to the ER! My program doesn't allow Protein drinks or Vitamins until week 3/4. They've said its because they reintroduce things in stages to cut down in vomiting and nausea.
