On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
gomekast replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to get a new scale last week..and discovered my old scale was way off! It also wasn't on level flooring either. I have a digital now and it's dead on with the dr office now. I would say, if your at 8 days out, your body is still thinking "wth are you doing to me lady!!" Well, for my pre op., I had a few stalls..but then would have a night where I just felt like crap. I would go to bed early and wake up feeling great and only to discover a big drop. And I'm talking like 2-4 pounds each time. Really listen to your body right now. If your feeling run down or anything out of your normal, take it easy. My stamina was pretty non existent as well. So I laid low during my 15 days. Get a little more sleep than you usually do. Treat yourself to a hot bath maybe..be good to yourself and weigh first thing in the morning after you've done your first bathroom trip. They say that first thing in morning is best to weigh. I would still say that your sitting at 250, with 5/6 to go! You're almost there honey!! -
On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
gomekast replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dang! Only 3 shakes a day?! Holy bananas girl, that isn't much. I did 15 days as well and stalled out in the middle. Just stay the course and it will happen. You said before the stall you were stuck at 253, but then lost 3 finally? If that's the case, then you only have 5 more..and 7 more days of your pre op diet! It will come off! The more you stress, the higher up the scale goes. Take lots of you time to now to de-stress! Were all rooting for you mouse! -

I also had a happy today moment this morning. I decided to try on a pair of jeans I've had in my closet for years. They were what I wore before my last pregnancy back in 08. I didn't think they would fit, I just wanted to gage how much more to go until I could. Got the second leg on and about fainted..I could button and zip without sucking it in or laying down!! There two sizes down from what I had been wearing! Congrats in your happy moment!

My husband and I just had this talk. I asked him if my potions had increased since I stopped eating the regular food..he said he didn't notice because his potions in general were out of control. I told him I would be more conscious of what I make for the family and of my serving sizes too. I think he just was afraid to say yes they were..and until stumbling onto this thread..I hadn't realized I was doing it.

Omg! Thank you for this post Laura! I was hit with this today. I always knew it, but hadn't really dealt with it so head on. My husband left this morning with our kids to run to the store. Soon as they left, I felt that sudden urge inside me..and I looked at the kitchen and thought... "Old me would've ran in there, had two pieces of pizza, some chicken rings and then had a bunch of Halloween candy for desert." All simply because they were gone. It would make me feel so good too..for about 15-30 minutes. Yesterday I treated my kids to burger king playland. I got my kicks off just looking an smelling at it. Old me would've eaten everything my kids didn't eat, along with my own meal. I've been in therapy for 8 years..and was just sleeved back on the 22nd. I've come a long long way from where I was 8 years ago, but I will always be a food addict in recovery. For the first time in my life, I feel like I just might have a good shot at getting the upper hand in this addiction. I will always need to be on alert tho, and I'm aware of that. One chip, slice, taste is never enough for this chic either. Never will be.

Vitamins
gomekast replied to Getting Healthy1383837803's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program doesn't have us starting ours until week 3. They said it's later because it's long enough that most people don't get sick from taking them. Best to follow advice above..call and ask. -

Not me no..what I quoted yeah..which is why I said what I did.

Try some sugar free Popsicles. I really couldn't drink until about day 4/5. Hang in there. I lived off grape propel zero those first few days.
-
Does anyone here dump from Torani sugar free syrups? My dr office said to beware because they see dumping all the time from sleevers, but i thought I was safe from that since it was sugar free.

Dumping on sf torani?
gomekast replied to gomekast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dumping is when your sleeve doesn't like what you gave it..and minutes later it all comes out the other end. Sometimes it takes several trips to the potty to get it all out. The episodes usually also have shaking, lightheaded, sudden slight fever, my face was suddenly red, had a rapid pulse and bp. 20 minutes later I was half naked and back to normal. -

I did. My belly is so swollen that I couldn't drink for the first day and a half. They finally had to give me a steroid shot in the belly to bring it down enough so I could drink something. Hang in there..I really couldn't drink until about day 4/5. Now, I'm 10 days out and I can drink much much better. But today I found a new issue..since I don't get hungry, I forget to drink my Water. Quickly got dehydrated and suddenly went from feeling amazing to whoa! So it's true when they say sip sip sip. Don't forget to sip!

This sounds amazing! Thanks for the ideas you guys!

Thanksgiving.. What to eat.?
gomekast replied to meaganchuckran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll also be 5 weeks out at that point. I will be on soft foods. I figure I will have some mashed turkey with gravy in it to make it soft and some green bean casserole. Maybe some sf Jello later for desert. -
I've read that most people that are losing weight tend to stay cold. Their bodies aren't working as hard digesting food, which makes the body colder. And yes, my feet are back to ice cold now all the time. I take a steamy shower before bed to warm up a bit. But I do like the cold, as I live in the upper Midwest.

Crushed pills
gomekast replied to Getting Healthy1383837803's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found the best way was to sprinkle the crushed pill on a few spoonfuls of cream of chicken soup. The salty of the soup takes most of the bitter nasty bite of the crushed pill away. -

Find a way to dr up the shakes so you can drink them. Whirl them up with ice and some sugar free Torani syrups...anything. You can't go 4 days without nutrition. Call your dr tomorrow and ask them if it's really that bad. But think about it..you've made it 11 whole days!! You can totally make it 4 more! You got this! And btw..I made it 15 days in just shakes. Felt super proud as a result. Keep in mind, post op, you'll be forced to rely on the Protein supplement for a while. Try some different ones from the Vitamin shoppe if you've for that store near you! -
Can someone give me the eating drinking rules. Thanks

3 days post op and starting full liquids
gomekast replied to JeniB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm doing ok. I'm on full liquids, which feels like a slow methodical torture. Soups just make me crave bad food, so I've decided to leave them alone. I don't get full from any of these full liquids yet. I don't get to start puréed until the 13th. My energy is pretty low too. Can def tell when I've done too much. -
Use a heating pad in bed on your belly. It will help ease the discomfort and take swelling down fast!

When will food go down easier?
gomekast replied to callchrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it normal for liquids not make me feel full? I know I have a smaller tummy, but it sure doesn't seem like it at times.
