I mixed mine with a spoonful of cream of mushroom soup. The salty covered the bitter taste of my crushed pill.

Immediate dry heaving?
gomekast replied to NoleGirl98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's the Vitamin. My program didn't have us begin our Vitamins until we started purees. Cut out the vitamin and take it with a shake and see if that helps. -
Do we stop ptotein when we eat?
gomekast replied to Sabredy12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you mean stop the Protein shakes when we start food...that's up to if you meet your protein goals with just food. It takes most of us many months to be able to get enough food to hit our protein goals without the shakes. I'm 10 weeks post op and don't usually hit mine without shakes. It's just so much constant eating if I had to cut out my shakes. -
Weight loss question...
gomekast replied to kledislynn's mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 weeks post op and my hands were the first thing I noticed the weight loss in. I can't wear my wedding ring anymore because it's so big on me now...and I had size 6.75 sized fingers to begin with. -
I weigh daily. .but I use it as a tool to see how my body reacts to things. If I notice bloating or Water retention. .I check my food log abd figure out what it's from. But I'm pretty sure I'm one of few that would say this. Good luck.

Sounds like gas pains and you're possibly impacted. Have you been cleared for miralax?

I have pcos and hypothyroidism and my surgeon said the sleeve was a good choice for me. In all I've got around 141 to lose total. My pcos was so bad that I had a hysterectomy so I do not have the periods anymore. ..but I did have all of the other classic symptoms..until getting sleeved. I was taking metformin for the pcos but haven't needed it post op now. I'm 10 weeks. I've been very strict with my diet, knowing I've got 2 big factors working against me in this fight. But so far as of today I've lost 55 pounds!! I pretty much do the 5:2 that I've read about on here...on accident. My body just naturally doesn't like getting the same amount of calories each day. 2 days a week I end up having very little but still hitting my Protein and liquid goals. Everything is much more manageable now that I've lost this much. But again...I'm very strict and do not deviate from what I'm supposed to do per my program.

Post Opters- did your hungry go away forever or return?
gomekast replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 weeks post op and hunger now has returned. But...it's completely different now than before surgery. It's sort of...I feel a little like a wilted flower or plant when I'm hungry and I do feel a very very slight tummy growl. Nothing like I was pre op, that's for sure. Felt it at around post op week 8 or so. -
Can't "eat" enough
gomekast replied to sandisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're only 2 weeks post op! Let yourself heal beofre you think about hitting Protein goals! I wouldn't freak. Just do your best to hit your numbers. When I was in post op weeks 2/3 my main goal was fluids. They flat out told me I wouldn't hit protein goals until week 4 and beyond. I'm now week 10 and I usually hit protein no problem but I forget to drink. Also, different liquids still go down different each day. So it's still a bit of a game for me. Just focus on fluids for now. Mine also counted skim milk as part of my fluids. -
You Should Not Consider Bariatric Surgery if..
gomekast replied to No game's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've tried to read every post you vets (or meanies as some call you guys)have commented on. I have since I began my process back in July. I appreciate your insight. But like Laura said earlier, I've tried every other diet before considering this. I failed them all because my body had too many issues abd just wouldn't let the weight go. I've also done the head work and continue to do the head work. I feel sad for the people that say others are mean for not agreeing with the food rebellion posts. I know what to expect out of myself. I really feel that all of my double digit failed attempts helped prepare myself for this post op world. I'm 10 weeks this week and things are changing. .I feel it. I see it. I'm terrified to fail this. .like so many times before. But what makes this different is just that, those failed attempts taught me a heck of a lot. I'm very particular about following my plan. I did have a small cookie for Christmas but I took one small bite and gave the rest to my husband or sister. That was it. That one bite was all I would allow. Been back to my plan and will diligently stay the course. I've lost 54 pounds so far but have give or take 70-80 more to go. The guidance you and Laura have silently given me is something that I consider to be part of my program. If I could hug you both I would. -
Ok so here's a question for you guys...how in the heck are we supposed to be fitted for a bra when they measure you with one on?! I went to get fitted once and they just took a tape measure around the boobs with my clothes all on and rattled off a size and then left.

I'm in. My first time too!

Those first 2 weeks... how much did you eat?
gomekast replied to Ree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on all liquids until week 4 post op. -
Can't eat food
gomekast replied to Madelyne Bonthron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat at seela here. I rarely hit 700 calories. .that only happens after I've been outside shoveling snow for more than 1 hour. But just my day to day normal routine is around 400-650 calories. My program doesn't tell you to hit a certain caloric goal. I think that's silly to do to any of us that have had surgery. As long as your hitting your Protein, Water goals and exercise goals you should be fine. -
Diarrhea vs Dumping Syndrome
gomekast replied to jjames7118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had diarrhea until u was about post op week 5/6. It wasn't until I began puree foods that it changed to actually solid form. That said...I did dump from sf torani syrup. Soon as i took my last drink if the beverage, I was running for the bathroom. I was stuck there for a good hour or more. The diarrhea from all the liquids wasn't instantly ready to come upon drinking my meals. The dumping was for me. My nurse said it's very common to have diarrhea like that after WLS because your not eating solids. -
MN Buddy Wanted. 11/8/2013 Sleeve Date
gomekast replied to tammyd0966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine done at park nicollet by Dr Svendsen October 22nd of this year. Best thing I ever did too! Struggling to get in fluids day to day but still happy! -
I'm in sort of a tough spot like the op seeks to be in. My hubby went back to school 3 years ago ft while working ft and being daddy to our now 4 and 6 year old kids. Guess what fell to the back burners?? Yep..His desire and want to give me any attention. We've had talks and I've told him it's in his court now..years of rejection have gotten me used to no attention at all. And now he's dealing with me never wanting his advances. I have a therapist I meet with monthly but I do wonder if losing the rest of this weight will cause him to pay me more attention.

I'm only 2 months post op but what Laura said is very similar with my situation with my husband. I'm vocal about things now where as before I'd stay up late snacking the night away. He isn't sure how to cope and often finds me stand offish. Trying to adjust and keep things into perspective. We try to just laugh things off and move on.

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

That's exactly my issue. I forget to resume drinking again and before I know it the day is gone and I've only had 12 oz total. Need a way to get all my fluids in..

I am a one person cleaning crew at a 225 unit apartment complex. I ended up resuming very light duty 2 weeks post op. I didn't have the stamina to resume my full duties so I had to have help. I also was on only liquids until week 4 post op tho, so it's possible that my lack of stamina was because of that.

Preop Diet messing with my blood sugar
gomekast replied to Mairkaye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had issues pre op with blood sugars. But I figured out that it was all carb related like Butters is saying. I never had the diabetes diagnosis but did have what Op says. Post op now...I avoid anything carb and white. I limit milk and dairy too. Focus in protein send non starchy veggies. I don't do fruits very often. Oatmeal, potatoes, crackers, bread of any kind, fruits and starchy veggies all cause my body to freak out. Feel light headed. So I stick to what he says above...I track my sugars daily with protein/fat/calories. Once I hit my magic number I know it's all protein from there for the rest of the day. -
Ahhhhhh! 4 protein shakes and 1 meal a day FOR 2 WEEKS!
gomekast replied to Jls93001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did 5 shakes and Water a day for 16 days pre op. So glad I did because I really set the stage for success early for myself in doing so. First months post op weigh in...was down 36 pounds. It's not always fun but it's doable. You'll be fine. Take time for you during this time. -
Why we eat what we eat
gomekast replied to coopspa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had dumping with my sleeve from sugar free torani syrup at about 3.5 weeks post op. I also had one l small toddler bite of a plain sugar cookie the other night and had dumping from that. Each person is different but in general like someone above stated ...most of us began as sugar addicts. It's just how our bodies were and they held onto each gram of sugar it could. I aim for a certain amount of sugar per day and I am 8 weeks post op. I even limit the sugars that come from dairy. But that's just me. -
