How is your sex drive post-op?
gomekast replied to ebonidarden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will say this about the whole sex issue...When you lose the weight, you even lose down there. Things are much easier to get too now. That should definitely improve things for us! -
You should stop for sure. What buffelhead said is the same as my program guidelines. For me, once I hiccup I'm done. If I have any more bite past this warning, I barf. I am going into week 11 post op and still can't have much in one sitting. 2 oz of any deli meat, 2 oz Greek plain yogurt, half ounce of a soy burger, 1 oz dark chicken and other meats.

Hospitalized 9 days pre-op
gomekast replied to Amanda Nicole Hosaflook's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came close a few times while on my pre op diet. In my case it was from getting all liquid calories. Not getting any solids keeps anything from staying in your system for any amount of time. Were you hypoglycemic to begin with? I've had that most of my adult life and that's how I get if I don't get enuf Protein. I ended up having a good 10 weeks of only liquids and I had to tell my boss I couldn't handle my job for the teatime being. I'm a caretaker and cleaner at a large apartment complex. She was understanding for sure but I felt so defeated. Now, 11 weeks later I've lost 60 pounds. Hope you feel better soon! -
And that's the other part. .my daughter drinks soy only. I tried it. Gag. There aren't many people in my family that can have any sort of milk. I like to cook with almond but can't tolerate that either. Besides, has anyone watched any of the food documentaries about food and what some things really are? Eek.

Haha! This nut today just blew me away. And I'm the type that doesn't fully process a situation until after its done and over. I don't react to much at all in general. I am going to call Monday tho and ask my nurse clinician about the whole thing. I had just come from seeing her and I told her I didn't do milk now but the plain fage instead. She was totally good with that and said it was better for me than milk anyways..like GG up there said. I see a different nut in 6 weeks and told them this afternoon when they called me back not to put me with cranky again. It must be a somewhat common thing because the gal responded with a non verbal...yep we hear that about her sort of response. Then we both laughed. I'm so glad I've got this forum to lean on!

Thank you ladies! I've made it from scratch before as well and I wish I had thought of that when I was in there. I may call my nurse Monday and ask her what she thinks. She's had the sleeve as well. I'm going to continue with what I've been doing. I've lost 61 pounds and I'm heading into week 11 next week. I will request not to have that same nut again...ever. I also had her as a pre op and she was just as rash, rude and unhappy. Must be her thing. And i get that she sees people that fail at the sleeve. But i am in therapy every 4 weeks and have lost 43% or 61 pounds at 10.5 weeks post op. I'd say I'm making good choices or else I wouldn't be losing like this.

Any caffeine free tea works for me.

I'm 10 weeks post op and still can't do plain Water. Instead I drink propel zero in assorted flavors. They are in the drink packets. Target has the best selection of flavors.

OK folks. Last week one night in the middle of the night I woke up with the nasty acid taste in the back of my throat. I didn't think of it then. Since that night, I've been super hungry. Sticking with approved foods, but wow. So my question is about how often people take theirs. Does anyone take it twice per day for acid reflux? Think that's my whole issue with hunger and it took me a week to realize it. Any veterans have some thought on this? I go In for my 3 month check up this Friday, so In will double check then but I like to research before hand. Thanks!

A little goes a long way! Maybe teaspoon max to begin with until you adjust to them.

I've had both. I can stomach both just fine. I prefer the unjury tho myself.

The recipe you used, was it the high protein pudding one with the pistachio I saw? -
Did I make the right decision?
gomekast replied to linda305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's hard at first for sure. I secretly cried for the first few weeks from emotions. My program advised me NOT to weight until my 1 month appt. I know most gain from all the hospital IV fluids. I must've gained a good 10 pounds from that alone. Just stay the course and all will begin to shift. Once it starts to shift it happens fast. I went down 3 sizes without really knowing it. Also, I'm 10 weeks and my Mom told me yesterday that each week she sees me, I am thinner than the week before. I don't see it. But I'm also very critical of myself. I am my own worst enemy for sure. Take some me time for you..relax somehow and just breathe deep. The more you stress the more your body will retain everything your putting into it. -
October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Ok..you gotta tell me. Is that your Nuwave oven?? I want one so bad!! -
I took a 2nd dose last night and literally could feel it working slowly over like 20 minutes time. Acid hunger went away too. This morning I wasn't feeling ravaging hunger either. Plus, I took it like Michele above mentioned...30 mins before eating/drinking. Not feeling the acid hunger today either. Thank goodness for this medicine!

35 degrees below Celsius
gomekast replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ha! The high temperature for the past week here in Minnesota has been around -3. Monday our high for school drop off is -8. Not thinking I'll be standing outside with my 4 and 7 year Olds for that. I'd rather drive them. -
I agree with this. I'm entering my 3rd month in 2 weeks..and my plan is the same. Try like heck to keep up my weight loss. Initially tho, I had 140 to lose. I've lost 58, which is amazing. But I've also read that the first 6 months is the crucial time for being able to lose the most. Good luck! Join the valentines challenge to make it more fun and motivating!

MN Buddy Wanted. 11/8/2013 Sleeve Date
gomekast replied to tammyd0966's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'd also be interested in a Blaine support group. I live up in Anoka. Getting to St Louis park for a 5:30 meeting meeting just isn't doable. -

Wow, I wasn't told any of this. I take it in the morning...but I take my thyroid pill first and then wait 30 mins, then I take the omeprazole and within 15 minutes I start drinking my Protein shake. Thanks for this! Def going on my list of questions for Friday!

What does 50lbs lost feel like?
gomekast replied to lauri407's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've lost 58 so far. I sleep better. I don't sweat like I used too. I don't accidentally potty a little when I sneeze or cough. I am no longer driven by food anymore. I am driven by getting things done now. My kids are so proud of me. My husband gushes to me in private about how well I've done and how happy n proud he is that I've worked so hard to get this far. My mom won't stop bragging to anyone that will listen about how hard I've worked. It feels like I am now wearing stuff that's 3 sizes smaller than before the 58 pounds. -
What will you be leaving behind in 2013?
gomekast replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Love this thread GG! I'm leaving behind 41% of my body. I'm leaving high cholesterol, borderline diabetes, and high blood pressure behind. I'm leaving desperation behind. I'm leaving very low self esteem/self confidence behind. I'm also leaving behind a couple friends that I realized were toxic and enablers in my life. I'm very excited about 2014!!
