    Rude awakenings....

I did this 2 weeks ago. Woke up and had to cough for a good 3-4 minutes to get the taste out of my throat. Lesson learned on my part. Not pleasent at all.

    Back to shakes?

I would suggest finding a good therapist first that specializes in wls patients. Ive been going for years and thry really help get to the root of why you do said behavior. I cant answer about the rest of your post tho. I'm 11 weeks and have followed my program exactly. Hopefully others can offer something.

    how in the world?

I'll add this....im guessing the chilu had sodium in it. That coupled with the usual pause or stall we all go threw..im sure yourbody is just hanging onto each and every thing you give it right now. Stick with your plan and stay the course. Your just fine. I gained a good 10-12 post op from all the hospital fluids. Took a couole weeks to lose it all finslly...but then lost 30 the first month. It will all even out.
  6. What stage are you cleared for? I was still on clears at that point, and have aleays had a very small fickle sleeve. If you can, I would just focus on clears for a few days until things calm down. unjury chicken Soup may help..that or any warm basic broth helps out some people. Are you on any sort of prilosec/omeprazole daily? I was also told not to eat or drink within 2/3 hours of bedtime. Also, things start to rapidly improve with what you can and can not have post op. Hang in there and you'll feel better soon. Im 11 weeks and just yesterday I felt sick because I shoveled for an hour on an empty stomach. I hadn't even taken my omeprazole yet before I had gone out. Not a smart move on my part.
  7. Day 4 pre op is always the worst for majority of us. Very common. Its the body detoxing from not just the caffeine but also sugars and all the processed junk. Take the tylenol if need be but take as little of it as possible. The pre op diets purpose is too shrink the liver and tylenol will affect that process.
  8. Nearly everyone has a post opgain from all the hospital fluids. It can take a week or more to lose that also. Another thing is this...we all have many many stalls threwout the whole journey. Im 11 weeks and I've had 2 stalls. Just stay the course, get the mind reset to all positive thoughts and it will happen. You're far too close to your surgery date to even consider the surgery not working for you. Positive thoughts and mantras from here on out!

    Cramps

If u are cleared for it, eat some banana. Loaded with potassium. Can also take a supplement for it too.

    Thoroughly unscientific poll

My dr didnt give me one. Thry have an ideal weight in their system. But when I looked last time they consider me at goal in just 45 more pounds. Not done for me tho...I have a number based on my bmi that my primary dr wants me at.

    Freaking Out

Ive gotten thst before from losing weight. Its most likely just fatty junk/cholesterol like substance leaving your body.

    My latest love: Fruit-Infused Water

Thank you for reminding me about this...saw my mom do this once but she had some bottle that had a screw on top. For some reason I wasnt sure if it would work with just an open pitcher.
  13. Do you see any therapist in your area? It may help you wrap your head around everything. I've seen mine every month for 8 years. She has done wonders and I would not have done this well without her.

    When can I eat bread?

Call and ask your nurse or dietician. Dont risk complications. Your program should have specific time line's.

    Is it too soon?

I wasnt cleared for any exercise until week 5 post op. Each program is different tho, so call n ask your nurse.

    Cheated?

Im no liar either. In all, I ended up doing liquids ONLY for 7 full weeks. Never once had a single solid or semi solid. I jad done enough research to fully understand thst youre only given 1 chance at the honeymoon phase of this surgery. I had 141 to lose then. I took it seriously. "Cheating" was never in my vocabulary or thoughts. I was also cooking for my family each day..sometimes twice per day, for hubby and my 4 and 6 year old kids. My surgery was serious business. Recovery and my program's set stages were serious business. Im now 11 weeks post op and I've lost 43% of my starting weight. I still take this serious. Each day. Each moment. Eat time my kids have pizza without me. If anyone is searching for permission to cheat or whatever you want to call it..my advice is this. See a therapist STAT. Having this surgery won't do the work for you. You must do the work. For the rest of your life, in a serious way. Not half a$$ed.

    Myfitnesspal - buddies?

Not sure how to add people but I'm gomekast.
  18. Seela has a great point. I work my program to a T. It works. I work out as instructed. It works. I'm losing and don't really care if it's fast or slow. Just the fact that I'm losing is cause for celebration...is it not??

    Is my pouch stretched?

Mine changed twice like that. I just made sure to measure everything I ate n drank. I still do too at 11 weeks.

    When can I eat bread?

My program said not too ever. Then they also said the folks that regain are the ones that resumed eating all that stuff again. In theory I'm sure you could at some point but with so little room in our sleeves, why would you fill it with refined carbs that are pure sugar, chemicals and bleached flours? I know that we're all human and some will have this stuff. But this stuff got me 140 pounds overweight to begin with. Personally I will not allow them in my body again. Therapy has allowed me to move past that white refined carb addiction. Good luck to you. Always listen to your sleeve!
  21. OK post op folks...I really need help wrapping my head around something. Saw the nut today. She's 1 of 6 in my program. Anyways we were going over a typical day of eating. 9am-Rtd shake Noon-1oz light cheese with 1 oz turkey breastfeeding cubed 3-2oz fage Greek 0% yogurt with half scoop Syntrax powder 5:30-2oz fage Greek 0% yogurt with half scoop syntrax powder & 1 oz chicken thigh or leg meat 7:30/8- 1 oz or less beef Jerky. So...she tells me...I have to stop eating the yogurt and drink milk. I tell her it makes me sick. Drink soy she says. I don't like it I tell her. "Well, I want u back here in 6 weeks and I want to see that you've cut out Greek yogurts and are drinking at least 20 oz milk." She gets up and leaves. What the heck just happened here?! So when I went to make my 6 week appt, I asked not to get her again. From my research....The plain fage has more nutrients per half cup than any milk out there. What would you do if you were me? Btw..I cut milk out at 6 weeks because it was making me sick again..and once I ditched it my weight loss resumed. The weight loss is fantastic with the fage.

Share a typical days menu, post-op

I'm going into 11 weeks post op. Here's my typical day. 8am-ready to drink pure Protein shake 11am-1 oz light cheese stick & 1 oz turkey breast both cubed. 2pm-2 oz Fage plain yogurt mixed with half of a Syntrax packet 5pm-2 oz fage mixed with other half syntrax packet & 1 oz dark chicken meat or baked tilapia 8pm-if I'm hungry I will snack on less than an ounce of beef jerky around this time.
  23. I felt mine in stages. Initially at just a few weeks things started not going down well..like Water. Then again around week 6ish it changed yet again. It's just the nerves coming back to life, like you said.
  24. gomekast

    What are your daily numbers?

I do very low carb...try for 30 grams carbs or less a day. I've had great weight loss with this. Milk will cause me to stall and gain if given enough time. But...I also know that my body reacts to any carbs in a bad way. I bloat up and gain from too many. My years of doing the Dukan diet helped teach me that one.

Just got my pre and post diets

That's almost exactly what my plan was. Sounded horrendous but honestly it wasn't so bad. But I did want anything non sweet towards the end. I began to rely heavily on unjury chicken Soup Protein Powder. Was a fantastic change. Also, ask If you can have Isopure. That's clear and many will allow that during the 2nd stage of clears. At my 1 month post op appt, I had lost 30% already.
