  1. Ok..so I'm looking to find out what anyone has experienced post op with getting a cold or the flu. I have a cold starting and I seriously feel like I could sleep all day long. Lack of energy can't come close to how I feel. I'm hitting my Protein, and Vitamin goals still. Didn't hit Water yesterday but am on track to hit it today. I've not felt this level of exhaustion since right after surgery, im 11 weeks post op now. Thanks for any insight you guys!

    Valentine's Challenge

I've been tracking my loss by the week. This challenge inspired me to go back and figure it out based on myfitnesspal weigh ins. I've gotten more focused in the last few weeks..since Christmas actually. I've been losing 3-4 per week since focusing. I do low carb too. In all, I have total of 141 to lose so I wanted to maximize the honeymoon phase to the best of my ability. Hope this helps a little. I'm now 11weeks and have lost 65 in all since surgery.

    Weight Stall

I was sleeved October 22nd and can't get much more than 400-700. Thats 11 weeks post op and the last week I average around 500 calories. My sleeve just cant handle anymore than that. Also, if your stressed or anxious, my nurse told me our sleeves will swell up..really limiting our intake.
  6. My program falls in line with this as well.
  7. For me... Bad: Not being able to drink all the Water im used to having. That one is tough for me, but getting better. My scalp is now much much drier now and it grosses me out. Watching the amounts of food my husband eats and the way he eats. A sandwhich is gone in 3 bites. .how disgusting is watching someone inhale food?! Friends who now confide in me telling me their so unhappy with their weight..the same person daily and she wont do anything about it. Good: Cleaned out my entire closet for the first time in 6.5 years! Throwing out crappy fat clothes. My mom telling everyone she knows I had the surgery. .shes proud! My kids being proud of their Mommy now. Im not the fat mom anymore! Half of my fridge is now veggies, lean meats n healthy stuff. Grocery bill has been cut in half. My skin is amazing now! I can almost NOT remember a time where I ate so much food in one sitting or day. Seems like a lifetime ago. Ugly: My boobs have deflated. I started at a F cup. Their flat now. (Im happy about this but my hubby is not)

    Mind hunger...

I did. I did liquid diet fie total of almost 7 weeks straight. I wss committed of course but I rold my husband I'd love it if they made a garlic chicken flavored Protein shake. I was counting down the days until I could have something like Jello and yogurts. Hang in there...
  9. Not yet. I just bought 4 today. My GNC was buy 3 get 1 free today. But I have been reading about them and have decided to half them rather than eat them whole. I'm very carb sensative tho..so I really watch my carbs in general.

    Oct 21-26

Hi folks! Let's get this thread going...I would love a group where we can all talk about what's going on post op.
  11. Your nerves will slowly come back to life soon. Mine came in stages..felt significant changes in restriction a couple of times. First at around week 3ish...then again at about 6-7. Before these nerves came to life again, I could easily drink anything liquid in just minutes. Then the nerves came back to life. Now, I'm lucky to get 2 oz of any meat down in 30 minutes. I can do 4 oz of yogurt or cottage cheese as of a few days ago. But everything else is weighed by the ounce. Hope this helps. Just keep measuring until you feel it kick in.
  12. Try upping your fluids. I know its difficult tho. I lived off of propel zero for weeks until Water was tolerable. I used to be like u...up a few times a night to potty..and I guzzled water. Post op...not at all. sleep all night..which is blissful! Im recently up to 2 24 oz things of water...and I feel like I'm really pushing myself to drink drink drink all the time. Doesn't come natural so much anymore. Im 11 weeks today and water became my bff again 3-4days ago. No easy task. Ive noticed this too....the higher my Protein for the day the more dehydrated I start to become if I forget to drink drink drink. Tea was a secret weapon for me in the beginning...along with a protein broth. Just do your best hitting minimum of 48 oz of calorie free beverages and you'll be fine.
  13. My nurse told me melted cheese like that isnt usually advised until a few months out. She said it gets stuck and a lot feel sick until it moves again.

    light headed

Ha! It really is. I had a night nurse get lippy with me about it..she scolded me for sipping my liquid percocet to slow. So I turned the tables on her. Asked her to coach me threw dirnking the little cup of red liquid. She did. I thanked her and then I finslly had an idea of exactly what sort of sips they meant. Otherwise I would not have known.

Mine was swollen shut post op. I coildnt keep a single thing down until they did my leak test and saw it was swollen closed in 2 places. I got a couole shots in the tummy, extra meds and then just started sipping. Now, at 11 weeks post I have somw difficulties eating. Soft things like cottage cheese or yogurts go down ok. meats do not. I can only eat 1 oz of any given meat. But im happy with it. Its not a big deal. Im told this will change.
  16. Im 11 weeks and use a straw now. I just don't syck all that air in before the liquid gets up to my mouth. I would think you're safe at 5 months out.

    Supplement insanity!

Dont forget..thyroid meds must be taken alone as well. I take thyroid med first...45 mins lster my omeprazole next. 45 mins later I have a shake..then 45 mins later I take my multi, metformin, vit d, and Biotin. Some nights I take a 2nd dose of omeprazole. .not all. Sundays I take my b12. Haven't attemped the calcium chews yet tho. Iron is taken few times a week...later at like dinner. It is crazy.

I'd bet you're fine. A lot of us have that post op..especially as our bodies adjust at all the changes. Once you can have solids, the nutrients will stick around longer inside us. But the liquids only part hits a lot of us like this. Think of it...when your on all liquids..even shakes..its still liquid and runs right threw us. Were not getting much but its a short stage and our bodies can with stand that for weeks on end if forced too. Relax honey..the more you stress freak n worry, the less you'll be able to ingest.
  19. I ended uo grtting bronchitis 2.5 weeks post op. All I took was liquid tylenol and I took a spoonful of honey mixed with cinnamon. Just kept a small bowl of thay mixed snd covered. Anytime I feel a bug starting, I take a todder sozed spoonful of it morning and before bed. I ended uo with bruised ribs as a result of my bout. No fun at all. Rest up and maybe take some extra percocet or whatever narcotic you have. Hope you feel better.
