Do you ever go back to feeling like you did before the surgery?
gomekast replied to caligirl_1031's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling 2000% better than even last week! I'm elated! I'm excited again! And I'm glad I had you guys to keep me going when I felt lost snd hopeless! -
Pure Protein is my go to! shakes, powder and bars! I'm 14 weeks post op and still have a scoop of the powder in hot Water at night to ensure I get all my protein. It mixes weird at first but let it sit and it gets white and creamy looking on the top. Then I finish stirring it!

best haircut when your hair falls out?
gomekast replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My hair was just at my shoulders. Thought it was short enuf to not lose as much. I was wrong..it was coming out fast. I ended up chopping it short! Its to my ears now. It really shows how much I've lost too. -

Do you ever go back to feeling like you did before the surgery?
gomekast replied to caligirl_1031's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to say...I really had my doubts I'd feel normal again. Here's a little of my journey. Day after surgery the leak test revealed I had a sleeve that was swollen shut in 2 places. Had a steroid shot and they didnt seem to be bothered anymore by it. Weekd passed and dense meats made me vomit. At 10 weeks post op I could only eat 2oz at a time. I went in for my 3 month check up and was told I had a slight stricture. Its why I had felt like crap most of the time...which was due to not being able to consume much. I was weak, walking across my living room would make me darn near pass out. I'm now 14 weeks and thanks to double dose of prilosec, I'm now able to truely eat. dinner for the last week has been an amazing salad. I've now been able to have more than 400 calories per day. Im averaging 800-900! I feel amazing now. Took me 14 weeks. I do not get light headed, my stamina is slowly returning. I'm taking a Water jogging class and using the elliptical! The last 4 days in a row, I've consistently hit 72oz of propel zero per day. I didn't think I'd ever feel normal again. But here I am. I do. Love my sleeve. Love the support this community has given me! -
what do you all use for hair loss?
gomekast replied to Roxiaa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine started coming out at about week 10-11. It got pretty thin and was coming out so fast that I jsut chopped mine all off. I had hair past my shoulders but now it's super short. -
Something is wrong you guys!
gomekast replied to sweetjam69's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was the same way at your point. I am 14 weeks and can only this week now eat a little bit more. -
I didn't have a drain. Just a 2 night stay at hospital.

How long were you on clear Liquids after surgery?
gomekast replied to WallyWall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then 2 more weeks of full liquids. Wasn't easy but glad it was that way for at least myself. -
Mine dropped off. My program doesn't check blood levels until 6 months. I also have a 4 year old and a 7 year old. So hubby and I are super busy all the time.

Starting to feel some slight depression....(Pity Party)
gomekast replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the very beginning its so common to not hit any goals at all. My nurses had told me to focus just on staying hydrated. The rest would come once I consistently did that. Still wasn't easy tho. But you'll soon turn the corner and feel so much better! I'm 3.5 months post op and the only way I hit water goals is from calorie/sugar free propel zero. So experiment with the calorie free sugar free beverages and find what works for you. This journey isn't for the faint of heart. Its the hardest thing we will ever do for ourselves! -
Starting to feel some slight depression....(Pity Party)
gomekast replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh shel....you're so not alone! I'm 3 months out and cant hit 64 oz liquids a day. No way. But using calorie free sugar free propel zero I can hit 48 oz. I'm a pt caretaker at a large apt complex. .and I struggle daily since having my surgery back in October. My hubby still has to help me clean Apts and shovel when he is home. Something I didnt think would still be happening at this stage in the game. Yesterday I had excruciating pain from my pcos and I felt that small twinge of...maybe I may regret this whole thing for this second. .but then I did what all the vets here have said time and time again...listen to your body/listen to your sleeve. I napped all afternoon, and kept my bathroom toilet paper roll going on overtime. Felt like a new person. I don't have the answer...but I was feeling that way yesterday. Today, ...I was pi$$ed off that I've been stalled for 9 days. Its my longest stall since October 22nd. I am waiting for the clouds to clear up..I want to feel as good as losing 70 should feel. But I'm not there just yet. I should also add this....I've got a slight stricture. So my sleeve is really just as temperamental. Sucks. -
Watched 'Forks over Knives' and 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead' this weekend. Feeling confused this morning!

My husband juiced last year and lost 35 pounds. He had so much energy zest for life. Our 2 young kids love juicing so much...we do it daily in the warm months. He actually mentioned juicing again for a while because he put 10 back on. -
I had VSG 10/22/13 and I have had honey. I actually use it as a tincture..mix it with cinnamon and take a small spoonful at bed to ward off the flu and colds that my Minnesota weather brings my family. My family has been cold and flu free so far too. Very unusual since I have a preschooler and 1st grader. I did not dump from it..only thing I dump from is sugar free torani syrups.

disappointed in local WLS support group
gomekast replied to moonlitestarbrite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This post is exactly the reason why I haven't gone to any local support groups near me. I just had bad memories of the weight watchers meeting basically being enablers anonymous. I check in here each day to get my fix. -
Head hunger and bad habits
gomekast replied to LisaDM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the night time snackies too. I've decided that if I must eat, it will be only beef jerky. It works for me but my NUT says its a no no. -

Week 6 an no motivation to change to full foods
gomekast replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still happy I did this. Some days are just harder to get threw. And its funny you talk about me eating real food...I've gotten to where I can't imagine that. Last night my hubby was in the kitchen watching me get some cheese...I had 1 oz of cheese and half of a small Ostrim stick. I sliced them up thin and he raises his eye brows and says ...you're not going to be able to eat all of that. He was right too. I still consider myself blessed tho. Like you, I've been close to death a couple of times from heart issues. I have another shot at life! I have another chance to make it to be a grandma some day! I have a chance to REALLY find me. -
Week 6 an no motivation to change to full foods
gomekast replied to Koofka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a stricture...I can't move to the next stage, yet its not big enough to strech out as some will have done. I've opted to just roll with it and let it slowly go back to normal. I just need to go slower than the majority of people here and I'm ok with that. Some days I miss having normal food but for the most part I'm happy. But its made winter here in Minmesota tough. I haven't been able to do all the physical things I like doing. And I have days like today where I judt feel like poo and can't get much in me at all. Thank heavens for propel zero and pure Protein.
