Hang in there Debbie... it gets easier. -
Anybody ever been told to ease up on Protein? My aftercare says I need 60-90 grams, and I tend to get closer to 120 using Isopure shakes even just 1 week after surgery. I take in close to 100oz of fluids a day... Any thoughts?

Too much protein?
Seymour1971 replied to Seymour1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked about this at my post op appointment. Too much protein can damage your kidneys. 60 grams is what do shoot for... I have found yellow pea protein... low in fat and carbs, 20 g protein... and it does well in my hot coffee. Doesn't lump up. That is breakfast and snack.. then I eat regular small meals for lunch and dinner... feel satisfied. -

Down 3 of 8 for this month... 30 total! Rocky dance... yeah! -
When I was coming out of anesthesia, the post op nurse told my hubby about my fill appointment. He didn't tell me. It was for Friday the 21st. My post op doc appointment is tomorrow. A long story short, I didn't get to my fill Friday, and when I called to reschedule they don't have an opening until MAYBE Dec. 23. I tried to ask surgeon's office if they could fill. They said no. I am HUNGRY and terrified I will start losing ground. This depresses me as I have gone through this much. Hoping it was for something...

Delayed First Fill
Seymour1971 replied to Seymour1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got my first fill. The first couple of days I could feel restriction... now nothing. 3cc. I am managing to eat well now. Was at 28 loss.. went back up to 24... now at 27. So frustrated... worried this was all for nothing... this loss is great... but I have such a long way to go... -
Ok tomorrow is 1 week post surgery. I have been back at work, modified, for 2 days... I have karate chopped, I have done it all... and every night my left shoulder and peck keeps aching. I am able to pass gas and I have heard the motto don't trust a fart. Will this really end at some point? Does having the band mean I will be flatulent for the rest of my life? Should I buy stock in GasX?

I scrambled an egg with a sprinkle of cheddar. Then on warmed thin slice of ham, rolled it up. Yummy meal... 2 rolls with one egg.

I would be willing to organize. I am a therapist near Willowbrook mall. I have some space. PM me evenings that work best for you. Let's see what we can get started.

Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
Seymour1971 replied to pinkbunies's topic in Singles Forum
My children 11 boy and 14 girl knew during the period I was considering. My mother died at 66 while we were visiting. They are old enough to remember her and get that my choice is to be healthier. When considering, I was terrified I would have to give up coffee. My daughter took my hand and did Mom, lets look it up. She sat with me as I researched that and the surgeon. My husband and I have discussed this thread. He said if I leave him for somebody else that is fine as long as I am happy. He then added that my new man would have to accept him camping in our backyard because he will never leave me. My dad paid for the non-insurance part. This was really his idea. He wants me to live longer. So I email him my summaries for lose it. I announce to the kids and hubby each milestone. Everyone cheers me along. Friday, I sat with my ex when he was picking up the kids. I had told them not to tell him except I had surgery. 1 week post op and down 21 at the time, I shared the truth, and told him how much the kids are probably worried about his health. I planted the seed of what recovery and financing looks like. He likely weighs close to 400. I hope he makes a decision that will bring him to health so he can live for his kids. I also hope he finds a partner someday. The kids worry about that too. The kids are paying more attention to their health, and today I am down 24. I made the right decision for me and my loved ones. Now it is up to me to work with my band and have success with this second chance at life. -

Are you on liquids or mushies or solids? I am on liquids still at 1 week post op. I tend to sip broths slowly and shakes... if I go to fast I feel pressure and wait a bit. I would say when you feel tight just wait.... gas or restriction you should slow down and not be uncomfortable... I would think the signals will get clearer as you go... patience! -
Down 20lbs from the start of this journey! Woke up and felt pretty good this morning... Celebrate good times! Come on!
