I'm done telling folks. They don't get it

I've had my band a little over a year and the judgement doesn't get any easier. At least it hasn't in my family. Very true that no one understands. I have told a select few about my band and because of the negative responses I've received, now I tell people only when asked ...that I've worked really hard watching what I'm eating and exercising. This is not a lie and I feel this is all that anyone needs to know. Even though our surgeries are different, they work towards the same result...being healthy and happy. Best decision I could have made. Best of luck and remember you are doing this for no one but you.

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

My 1 year anniversary is coming up on the 20th. This was the best decision I have ever made. Surgery went well, post surgery was good and I have only had a few nights of pain throughout this whole year. It was all my fault and ate way too much. I have lost 75lbs and hope to lose about 40 to go. Good luck to all new bandsters it's going to be a good thing. I finally have my life back. ????

This is very inspiring. I weighed about the same at time of surgery so i would love to be where you are at 6 months out.

    Peeps?

I was thinking the same thing. This site used to be hoppin with all of the posting but i very rarely get a notification of a new post anymore. I think i post less because the "recent posts" arent there anymore. Its harder to find topics. Kind makes me sad.

Help! I Was Banded 4 Days Ago!

I had surgery on the 21st and it does take quite a while for the gas to relieve itself. i am about 2 1/2 weeks out and I think my body is still adjusting to something different. Gas pains in shoulder are definitely gone but do have an upset stomach from gas still.

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Hi All - haven't been on in a while and wanted to check in and see how all of my Nov buddies are doing. I'm almost 3 weeks out and feeling pretty good. It's been pretty cold outside so i'm not getting to walk as much as I would like but trying as much as possible. I'm curious to see what stages people are at with eating and weight loss. I think I have been doing ok, but i'm not sure where to go with eating from here. The weight was dropping pretty quick from the pre-op diet and until about a week after surgery but since then I have been at a stand still for 2 weeks now. I know its a little early to get frustrated but it's pretty hard not to. Wishing everyone good luck and happy banding thoughts.

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Well everyone, i had my surgery this morning. Went pretty well. Doc even commented about how well i did on my diet because it was really easy for him. Home and resting for a while now. A little sore and the gas pain comes and goes but nothing that can't be handled. Wishing everyone else well in the next couple of days. Lets do this.

    Two Week Diet Help!

Im on my 3rd day of pre-op liquids and its just a mind set. I thought it would be a lot harder than it is. Im surprised how well i am doing. Although i almost threw up on my way home the other day from the nasty shake...lol. I think you just have to look at it as though this is one more step in the process. Good luck with everything.

    Changing habits

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. Its great to be able to turn to people who have already gone through this. Makes things a lot less scary.
  19. I am going in for my 4th and final nutrition appointment and submitting all paperwork to the insurance company at the same time. My question is...I've been feeling a little guilty lately because I feel like I'm not changing enough habits before I get the band. My nutrition appointments are meant to help me learn and practice these changes before I get the band and I have made some and working on others. I will have a 2 week pre-op liquids only diet and I am planning on making this my time of change. I know I can do this once I get banded I just don't know why it's so hard to change now. Please share your pre-op habit changing experiences. ~Thanks for the advice!!

    Who is this person???

Thank you for posting this. This is what i hope and aim to sound like after my banding. I was very athletic when i was younger and really hope to get back in to the 5k's. This post gives me a lot of hope and inspiration and makes my feelings of second thoughts and nervousness a lot less.

    why did you choose lapband?

Like dawalsh said...the fill option was a great perk for me. Struggling with weight for so many years, I like the idea of being able to get it adjusted if I get a little off track.
  24. Twinsmommy0513

    why did you choose lapband?

Its sounds like everyone has the same reasons. I am still in my pre-op but knew right from the start of my research a couple years ago that the lap band was the way to go for me. I also agree that the cutting and rerouting was not appealing to me for future health concerns. Not that I would take the band out but it just seemed like a good option to have just in case.
