    Pain in chest after swallowing

good morning..just a question for all the banders out there. I either swallowed something too fast or something too big because now I can feel discomfort . it does not hurt when swallow ...it hurts as the food goes further down. I can also feel it when I stretch and open my arms wide. I feel like something is irritated and I can feel it when I take a deep breath. Any advice?
  2. Geez that's good!! I was banded on August 14 and down 17 pounds.. My doctors were so pleased with the 2 pound a week loss that they don't want to even give me a fill yet.. So give yourself a big pat on the back and cut yourself a break.. It took awhile to get the weight on.. It's seems only natural for it to be the same process

    OMG....the pain

I was banded three weeks ago along with the hernia repair and was also surprised with the pain. Having had 5 c sections....I didn't think it would be that bad but it was.. My port sight on my abdomen was extremely sore but I had more pain from the diaphragm area which sent me to the ER because I couldn't take any deep breaths. Keep up with the pain meds before it gets too bad and although they say to walk alot...after my ER visit.. I was told to rest and do very minimal walking in order to not exert that diaphragm muscle as much and give it time to heal. They gave me morphine in the hospital until it was better controlled and then changed my pain scrip which helped. The second week i just laid around alot and took my pain meds and it started to dissipate somewhat. At this point, I am still a bit tender but can take deep breaths and started walking again but at night I am still sore from the day's activities. Ever day gets better but I know how you feel because I was kind of getting freaked out about it too!

    My lapband Story

I am so sorry this didn't work as you had planned. When you are battling other health issues all along and finally get to the point when you are mentally ready to tackle the weight issue is no easy task.... You just get so tired of dealing with one thing after another. I have lupus , had five children.. All c sections, and through years it has been one health issue after a other! It is so draining! Although I did get banded just a two weeks ago... I wanted to reach out to you to keep pushing. Although this a set back.. You still have to rally and move forward which is exactly what you and I and countless others have been doing all along in dealing with all these health issue. You are so close! Keep plugging..... You deserve this!

    Breathing trouble

Hi , I just had this problem this week. I was banded on 8/14 and also had hiatal hernia repair..six days later I was in the ER because I could not breathe and had severe pain down my whole left shoulder , arm and side. Every time I inhaled I could only take half a breath and as a result was doing a whole lot of shallow breathing which was making me light headed and dizzy. I was worried about blood clot or stroke and was in quite a bit of pain. When I got to the hospital my heart rate was in the low forties which is quite low and after being put on oxygen and morphine for pain, lung xrays could not find anything. After I was stabilized I saw my doctor the next morning..he proceeded to tell me that he thought I had adhesions from the hernia surgery in the diaphragm to the lap band which was causing all the pain and just the fact that the diaphragm muscle had been cut that it restricts your breathing and it is extremely painful to inhale and exhale air. I also had been trying to cut down on the pain meds during the day and I wasn't ready for that. So now I am back on the pain meds full-time for the next week or so to keep ahead of the pain which also helps relax your breathing a little bit better and rest, rest, rest...no walking around like we are supposed to do because you have to give the diaphragm muscle time to heal. Starting to feel a bit better but still not great...breathing is a little easier though. Hope this helps!
