Kellys started following Banded for just over a year, How do you fix a "slippage", I wanna know if this is true... and and 2 others
-
I am also dealing with a slipped band - and for the same reason. I was doing really well for the first year, I had only been sick once due to food getting "stuck". Then I had a train wreck of a week - almost binge eating and then throwing up and I have not been able to recover from that. My band has been completely defilled and I have to wait 8 weeks to have another upper GI done to see if the swelling has gone down and where the band is sitting. I am terrified to have the band removed, I loved where I was before I went into "self destruct" mode. I hope that the swelling goes down and I can slowly start to have the band filled again. I am now trying to deal with the emotional part of my eating and trying to make sure that I am doing everything I can to use the band as the tool it was meant to be. Good Luck - I think support is key for all of us struggling with our eating.

-
My band was great for the first year, I was careful and followed the rules (most of the time) Now I am running into trouble after a weekend of binge eating and vomiting. I am more than willing to fess up to my behaviour - I know that unhealthy eating, emotional eating etc., is what led me to the lap band. I am struggling to get back on track and hope that I have not done serious damage.

I have been having trouble with my band for the past 3 months - up to that point everything was going very well. I am scheduled to have an upper GI next week to see if the band itself has slipped but I am wondering if my eating habits may be causing the problems. The acid reflux and vomiting seemed to have started when I had a particularly bad weekend - I constantly ate, was sick and then would eat again. I was basically out of control and binging. Up to that point I had been eating well and had only been sick a few times in the year since my surgery. Have I done damage to the band? Could that cause the band to slip?

Acid reflux, vomitting, coughing all night
Kellys replied to Kellys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just went in and had another de fill and I have a follow up appointment on Monday. If nothing is better then they will move up my appointment. Right now I feel much better - I have been able to drink Water easily and eat small amounts of food. The nurse does feel it is a slip and has said they will probably do surgery to adjust it. I really hope I can get back to where I was before all of this - 2 months ago I was loosing weight, eating well and had no complications. The band was working perfectly. -
I have been struggling for a few months with acid reflux and have gone in to have a few de fills. I have had the band for over a year and up to this point have been really happy with it. Now - I have days where the heart burn and acid reflux are unbearable, I am vomiting often and spend most of the night coughing - sometimes I cough up bile but often it is just coughing.... all night!!! I have an appointment for the upper GI to see if it has slipped but that is not for a few weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this in the meantime. I am drinking lots of protein shakes when I can, only soft food, I don't eat anything after 7pm.....I am at my wits end.

I have been to the clinic to have a few de fills, and they don't think it is a slip but if it doesn't clear up soon they will set up an x-ray for me to make sure. I will try eating earlier in the evening....although nothing has really changed in my eating habits (from the first 11 months when everything was okay) which is why I am a bit concerned.

I have been banded for just over a year and for the first 11 months everything was great. I have lost 75lbs and completely changed the way I eat. I am healthier than I have ever been. Unfortunately, the last few months have been difficult - I have had terrible acid reflux that makes sleeping almost impossible and eating very difficult. I have had two de fills and am on prescription medication for the reflux but nothing seems to be working. Any thoughts?

I have had great success with the band up until a month ago. Now I have terrible acid reflux. Has anyone else experienced this?
