Thank you sooooo much. -
Same here if insurance don't approve procedure I plan on going to Mexico, don't really want to , but I will. I have to get this weight off. tired of living with joint pain. I am working 2 jobs to save incase insurance denies me.

Excited and nervous about the whole process. hopefully it will happen mid 2014. Lets keep each other motivated and encourage. I notice some of you guys are in Georgia, so am I .

I am also going to have my surgery at Emory John Creek April/May 2014 if everything goes smoothly with the whole insurance process...Glad to hear from someone in my area, lets keep in touch.

Hello, are you in Ga? I started the process last month also. have my 2nd of 6months diet on 11/22/13. looking forward to have my surgery April/May 2013, At Emory John Creek.

I know exactly how you feel, I am nervous and excited all at the time. I am 230lbs 5'4..no health issues except for hypothyroidism , severe joint knee and heel pain. On meds for the pain. Working 12hrs shift don't help either. Looking forward to the surgery sometime April/May 2014 if all goes well with insurance. which I know they cover WLS according to my policy. Keeping fingers crossed wish I could fast forward time.

I had my consult with surgeon last month, along with my first of 6mnths diet. 2nd diet appt is 11/22..had lab work, pulmonary test, Upper GI completed this week. My next move is to inform my PCP of my plans. If he gives me any issues whatsoever, unfortunately he will be dismissed. I really don't need anyone negative attitude. It was hard enough for me to come to the conclusion I wanted to have WLS. Looking forward to hopefully April/May 2014 if God willing insurance approves. Anyone nervous and excited all at the same time?

@tamoune wow! you have good insurance. I am confused because my insurance company wants 6mths diet and 2years history of overweight. do I have to show my medical record for the past 2 years that I was overweight? and will that mean I will not have to do 6mths diet. just confused.

My BMI is 38.1

Please let me know if your any of you guys insurance approved you without major health problems. I do have family history of high blood pressure, diabetic. thanks for replies.

Where do I start the process for weight loss surgery? help!
tamoune posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have looked into having weight loss surgery for over 2years. I weight 220lbs 5'4 tall. have tried every diet. Atkins, weight watcher, slim fast etc etc...My BMI is 35.2 I have hypothyroid for the last 2 years on medication. My doctor increased my dosage to help me with weight loss. but still gaining, I have Humana insurance , but I don't know how or where to begin the process. due to gaining weight I am experiencing knee pain. Can someone please guide me what is the first step I need to get process rolling. Thanks in advance .
