VENT: A 5 year old made me want to cry.

I am also mad and confused at myself because I don't want my daughter thinking that it's bad to be fat. But then I also don't want her to think that it's healthy either. I just hope she doesn't end up with an eating disorder because of my weight issues!!!

    Funny/nerdy/meme workout shirts

    LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
  3. OK, so after my surgery I was really good with wearing my CPAP for the first 3 months. Then I got a cold and stopped wearing it for a week, then I got a delivery of new tubing and a new mask and I couldn't get it adjusted right. I fell off the wagon and completely stopped wearing it. So yeah, 3 months of wearing it and 7 months of not. Now mind you, I don't really think I had bad apnea to begin with--My setting was only a 6 when I weighed 300+, and now at 220 I sleep just fine without it. The sleep doc wanted to see me next month, and now I feel awful that I haven't worn it. So I tried again last night but it was not very comfortable. I think it's just too much air or something. I end up ripping it off half way through the night. I don't want to wear it, but I want to be cleared for the apnea so it's not on my medical record. So, I can either suffer through wearing it for a couple months to please the sleep doc and prove I don't need it, or just fess up and face the music. What would you recommend I do??
  4. First, IT WAS ONE MEAL. Time to get right back on the wagon and move on. Put your mistake in the past. And yes, to answer your question, we are food addicts--just like the constant battle of other addicts, we will have to struggle our whole lives. The band makes it easier, but it will always be there. Second, since you haven't had a fill yet, maybe it's time to talk to your doctor. That's what they are there for!! Thirdly, when I eat out, I order carefully, decide beforehand how much/what I will eat. If I feel out of control, I ask for the box beforehand. I don't go to places I can't easily choose. Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss so far! You're doing great! Stay on the path to success and you'll be to goal in no time.

I've been a bad CPAP wearer

Thank you for all the input, everyone! You are right, I have to go see him. Yes @@Jenn Cooper, I have a nasal only mask. Thank you for the info.

I've been a bad CPAP wearer

My worry is that I will be labeled noncompliant by the insurance and not get a new sleep study. But you're all right. I need to go see him. I am going to give it another week with the cpap (so he has at least some data) and go see him.

1st fill in a loooooong time

What always got me through was my own version of egg drop soup: Boil low sod/fat free broth and scramble up an egg and slowly drizzle it in.

    Protein Bar Suggestions

I was just looking at my doc's suggestions yesterday: my doc recommends Quest (I love them!), Balance bars, Myoplex Lite, Oh Yeah Natural Bar, Detour or the Simply bar. My personal favorite is Quest chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It's just like the real thing, and very easy to chew. My suggestion is go to GNC and get some single bars of things you find appealing and start that way.

    Vaping and WLS

The whole point of this was to get healthier. Wouldn't vaping or smoking be completely contradictory to that? Fight the urge!!

    Follow my Lapband Success!

    Congratulations!!
  12. The men flirt more, strangers seem kinder, the friends struggling with their weight all hate me (and don't know the truth), the jocks seem a tiny bit impressed that this chubby girl can run 4 mile races (but I still come in pretty close to last LOL). I wonder if it's all because they think I finally got some self control? Not sure? My husband treats me differently even. My daughter is proud of me. I am proud of me too. These are the only 3 opinions that matter.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I just did a 3 mile run and ran 25 min and only walked 6! It wasn't hard either! I'm officially declaring myself a runner! OK, a jogger. It wasn't even that bad, and I didn't need my music to make me go. I just did it. I've done two 5ks in recent weeks (walked/ran) and next week I'm hoping to run almost the whole thing. Wish me luck!! PS I've detoxed off Cheetos and lost the 5 lbs I've been wrestling with. I've got a couple parties to attend in the next week, so wish me luck that I don't make myself sick or lose my momentum!!

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Thanks for the pep talk!!!! This week I decided I was going to end my battle of the 5 lbs, so I've been doing protein shakes in the daytime and eating a real meal at night. It took me from 223 to 218 as of this morning. I started on Sunday morning. So it's my detox, and it's SO easy to take to work. I plan on continuing at least through the end of the school year. Then I need to find out what my summer meal routine will be. I've decided that this summer will be the summer that I get everything done around the house...the patching of walls and repainting, the cleaning out of closets, the tossing of old things to replace with *space* and not more things, the outside gardening that I always wanted to get done. I'm going to turn off the TV and replace it with activity. Irish, I want to see that 199 too!!!

    Whats with the noise?

I get hunger gurgles and burps, but I have never had a noise from my band! Now I'm scared! LOL
  19. I am terrified of getting stuck, so I always thoroughly chew chew chew!! Like a paste. I eat all sorts of meat: chicken, steak, bbq, that kind of stuff. No problems so far.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I too have hit a plateau, but I am working hard to get through it. I had been making the same bad choices as Arch. I was so angry with myself that I took that bag of cheetos and stepped on it, crunching every last one and then throwing right in the garbage, where it belongs. I am detoxing again from sugar. Not hard at all this time, actually! I went to the pool yesterday. What a workout. Made me "good" tired. Doing my first 5k this weekend after being banded. I'll run the hell out of it!! I threw out all my fat clothes, so I better do my best! Can't turn back now!!!

At Goal...I woke up like this!

Damn, girl!! You've brought sexy back! Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I have been asked to chaperone a school trip abroad next year and want to know if I will be ok with my lap band. If you have experience with any of the following, please chime in!! The flight will be about 8 hours, the whole trip will be 9 days in Europe. I am concerned that stress plus the flight will make me tighter and I'll end up in the ER again. But I don't want to have an unfill if I can help it (I had a major unfill and it's been a hard time in trying to get back to the green zone). No one knows I have my band, and I would like to keep it that way. I am also concerned about meals while traveling. Any comments?

Lookie there! You did get your neck back! How wonderful! I too still find it weird looking in the mirror expecting to see the old me, but there I am, the new me!

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Just got back from the doc (0.25 fill for a total of 2.25), and he is proud of me. He gave me a 0.25 fill and told me to keep up the good work. I've been running, biking, and doc suggested I add in weights to boost my metabolism. He did express concern that I can't eat salads. They just don't sit well with me now. I only lost 5 lbs in the last month, but that's ok, it's still a reasonable loss. Doc also reminded me to drink a lot more during the summer because lap banders can easily dehydrate. Time for another check-in folks! How are you doing?
