    Finally! but then.

I doubt it. My doc said it usually takes a lot for a band to slip--like heavy vomiting for a long time.

    Hungry!

I don't loathe the Protein shakes like you do, but ever since I got a nutra ninja blender I have been having so much fun making really yummy shakes. I think it's because it blends them so much better. And I use ice and sometimes put other things (peanut butter!) in them. Do you mix your shakes with Water or skim milk? My doc says it doesn't matter, but the milk is 100x better.
  3. My doc never said to spread them out. I am curious about it though. I forget to take mine too.

Broke down in tears today for a stupid ass reason

Have you had a fill? Perhaps you are too tight. Go back and tell your doctor what you told us. I would even include the crying part because I know my doctor also wants to hear how we are doing emotionally, too. I am going to venture to guess that the crying stems from fear. I'm almost a year out and I still question sometimes if I made a mistake in choosing the band. Altering your body is a huge thing!! But then I look in the mirror or put on my non-plus size clothes and see that I am doing just fine. Let's face it, you are not the same as before, and never will be. And the frustration of not being able to do something is painful. Go see your doctor and I'm sure things will be better. ETA: Dang it!! I just saw that you are a sleever and not a bander!! Disregard the too tight--but keep the advice of going back to see your doc!!!
  7. Wow. That must have been so scary. Glad you got a compassionate doctor to help you. Wishing you a happy pregnancy and a safe delivery.

Falling back into old habits...support needed

Of course your brain likes the ice cream!! Fat plus sugar is the deadly combination!! I too love it, but I'm trying to cheat the cheat. I bought a Nutra Ninja bullet blender and now add ice to my shakes. Bariatric Advantage chocolate, skim milk, and ice. It comes out like a Wendy's frosty! My only advice: stay here til you get back on track, then stay longer!!

Tale of a bariatric diet goody-two-shoes...

@@Teachamy when I have a moment of weakness, I try to do a lot of self talk: "You already know what that tastes like." or "That sugar is going to give you a headache later." It works a lot of the time (not always!). Obviously what you're doing is working for you...why mess it up?!
  11. Congratulations!!! You're doing great!!
  12. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Tell us your happiest memory of her/him. Exercise, sleep, and trying to laugh as much as possible got me through the death of my mother. Actively trying to stay positive about it helped me. And when I needed to cry, I did. Let it out. Don't hold it in because stifling emotions is never good.
  13. @@BandedInBama Do you use an app or total the calories? Sometimes I think I'm eating right but it ends up being too many calories. Also, what kind of exercise do you do? And finally, are you getting good sleep? that is just as important as eating right and exercise. Just do the right thing and you will see results! hang in there!

    Slipped Band

@Mikee57 How are you feeling now?
  16. PuraVida37

    consistently sick

Vomiting is NOT NORMAL. Sounds like your band may have slipped? Is there another doctor you can go see? Yours doesn't sound very helpful at all.
  17. Not nearly to your capabilities...yet! This summer I did three 5ks and a 4 miler. I mildly sprained my ankle before the 2nd 4 miler so I skipped it as not to screw up my running career forever. Gotta let myself heal correctly. I don't have any events coming up, so I'm back in the gym to weight train and get a little more diverse exercise than just hitting the pavement.
  18. @I will what I want The green zone is the perfect lap band setting. It's different for all of us, and it may take multiple fills and tweaks. I'll get there some day, though! I think I may almost be there!

    All the attention...

I did not go public with my surgery (for many reasons, but mainly it's nobody's business!), but due to the mystery weight loss, I get looks from my coworkers. I hate it. Hello, I CAN see you scanning my body up and down, judging, approvingly smiling or finishing your scan with a mean look. Whether or not you mean to do it, I don't care. I don't want to be checked out unless I am in the fanciest party dress, thank you very much! And I weigh 215, stop calling me skinny mini. Mind your own F business is what I want to tell them. Now, there are some who genuinely want to learn from me, I'll talk to them gladly about how Protein is king, and yes, you actually have to put the gym/walking time in to get results. I'll be happy to help.
  20. My proudest moment was the first time I ran on treadmill for 20 min straight without stopping. I was actually running for a pretty long period of time after not being able to run ...pretty much ever. I had had a dream weeks before my surgery of me running effortlessly and it really stuck with me. It was awesome to finally get close to that!! PS I love this post idea!! More like this please! It's very motivational! ETA: Some of my goals: 1. to become one of those crazy folks that goes to the gym 3x a week before work (my job starts at 7am, so this would be a biggie!) 2. to run a 5k with no stopping at all (I'm getting closer to this one!). 3. to be a size large and completely ditch the plus sizes forever (I'm stuck in XL 1X land). 4. to get to the green zone (it will happen someday!!)
  21. Stop beating yourself up!!! You're doing just fine considering you've had stress. Stress contributes to us holding on to weight. For me, the less food is great, but I think the exercise plays a major role for me. It cuts my stress and motivates me to want to stay on the good food choices path. I feel strong and powerful and that carries me through the whole day. Plus it makes me want to get in all my Water. Next, are you choosing too many sliders? How clean are you choices? Lastly, time for a review of the 8 Golden rules. It really motivates me! Be sure to follow up with us! We want to know what's working and what's not. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Band affecting work

I agree. It is NOT NORMAL to PB. In my 8 months being banded I've NEVER had to PB even once. I've had a tight fill before that had to be unfilled. Get yourself to your doctor as soon as possible. Until then, I recommend Soups and shakes. You can hurt yourself badly if you don't get this fixed! Take care of yourself and let us know what your doctor said.
