Any other September 2013 bandsters?
PuraVida37 replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so glad to hear from you! Glad you are doing well. Nice to know your doc is conservative. tee hee Makes me happy to hear I'll be in really capable hands. I'm a week and a half to go still. For the gas, are you taking Gas X? Does that help at all? I wonder how they decide where to put the port? I've heard some people say it's near their belly buttons, under their boobs, on the side of the tummy, etc. I had a really crappy day because although I took my shaker bottles with me to work, I forgot the powder. Crap. I had to buy muscle milk and then had my salad for lunch (but only could eat about half). Then when I came home I stole 3 raviolis out of my daughter's dinner. Terrible, I know. Then I go to make a shake here at home and find no milk. Gah!! I'll do better tomorrow. PS Please be careful and put those babies down while you are healing! -

Start of week 2's pre-op diet and I AM STARVING!!!! I have already eaten everything allotted for the day except my last shake. I'm saving that for after my workout. What can I do??? I've already drunk a ton of water. -
PRE OP LIQUID DIET
PuraVida37 replied to princesstuiaki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, that pickle's salt and my cheating made me gain .8 this morning. How can you gain on a liquid diet? LOL!!! I worked out hard today and am drinking lots of Water. -

I've been using MyFitnessPal app for my phone to log food. That has been super helpful to me to know how much I'm really getting. -
PRE OP LIQUID DIET
PuraVida37 replied to princesstuiaki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is so much harder to stay on this pre-op diet on the weekend than during the week while I'm working!!! I gave in to temptation today and ate 3 tbs scrambled egg/white off my daughter's Breakfast plate, and then at lunch some 2 thin slices of low sodium low fat cheese and two small/thin slices deli ham. I was famished, and now I feel guilty. But I tried to be good at least with my cheat choices. I am just finishing week 1 of a 3 week pre-op diet. OK, and what do you think (besides that I'm desperate!)? If I am allowed to eat cucumbers in my dinner salad, do you think a pickle counts the same? -

Since August 1st I have lost about 30lbs. I can't believe my own will power. I know the band will only help me keep it off, whereas if I went it alone I would be back to 300 or even more in no time. I have to keep playing this in my head so I don't either chicken out or give up! -

I am getting exhausted (yawning, need to sleep for sure) when I am hungry, then a huge burst of energy after eating. Anyone else? -

This is a good idea, a list of what we are looking forward to!! 1. Buying shoes other than MBTs. I love these shoes because of my plantar fasciitis, but I want cute shoes!! 2. The reaction of my in laws (who live in another country). They won't believe their eyes! PS I was 300+ when I visited them this summer. 3. Snuggling my daughter in her twin bed without taking up the whole bed. 4. Having enough energy to work out before work. 5. Looking like my grandmother again. 6. Being thin enough to pull off a new, shorter hairdo that will look great!! 7. Being unafraid of dying from fatty liver disease, diabetes, or other obesity related disease that runs in my family. 8. Running a whole 5k race without stopping all the time! 9. After this 3 week super restrictive pre-op diet, I am looking forward to a cup of chicken broth with green onions and mushrooms, and then someday some scrambled eggs!!! I am really craving the stuff from my low carb diet. 10, Being able to walk in to any store and buy a pretty blouse. In size L or M!! No Xs on the label!! I am sick and tired of Lane Bryant and Avenue. Thinking up this list was so much fun! Who's next? What do YOU look forward to? -

Well, you're smart to go in to the doc and ask about what's going on. Let us know what s/he says. -

Keep reporting back those of you who have had surgery already! We want to know how you're doing! Good luck to those going soon! Got my sleep study results back and yes, I need a cpap. I stopped breathing over 11 times in one hour. Eek! I had no idea I snored, either. I did a split study (half without cpap, half with) and without the cpap I had only 19 min of REM sleep, but with the cpap I had two sessions of hour long REM! What a difference! My body went into lighter sleep to get me to breathe again. Pre-op diet: I was so famished today that when I downed my Protein Drink I just LOVED it! I can't wait to eat somewhat normal food again. What I would give for scrambled eggs or just a slice of deli ham with cheese! Or the raspberries in my fridge!! This diet sure makes me appreciate good food! I had a very stressful day at work, glad tomorrow is Friday! -

Anyone else having bad breath on the pre-op diet? Even after I brushed as usual, my daughter said my breath stunk, and I've been having an odd taste in my mouth. -

So I get a call this afternoon that without my permission they have changed my surgery from Sept 30 to the 18th! Before I can even say no, that's impossible for me, the hospital calls for pre-surgical testing! I cannot possibly do it until the 27th or later because of work. So, I have to call back and fix this mess tomorrow. I haven't even gotten my cardiology clearance or PCP clearance done yet!!! I just started my pre-op diet on Monday. I finally made it down to the next 10 lb increment on the scale and I am sooooo excited about that because it took a little while. I am doing fine with a shake before work, then one for lunch. It's quick, and I really don't mind the taste. It's the texture that bugs me if I let it sit for too long. It almost congeals to a slime. I am exhausted this week, and I can't tell if it's just from school starting or this pre-op diet. It's probably both. I have more energy over all during the day, but when I wake in the morning, I feel like a didn't really sleep well. After work, I am just pooped. -
If you chose NOT to tell about your LB, share your story please

Hello folks. Here I am again with another question!! If you chose not to tell people at work or friends about your LB, how did you keep it secret? Did you change your mind and eventually tell? What kind of comments/questions did they ask? How did you handle it? I am not planning to tell my coworkers. I know they will ask questions as they are super gossipy. Thanks again for open and honest responses! -

I was going to tell my best bud at work, but she is a total blabbermouth (but I still luv her) and she is going through weight issues herself. She is always doing weight watchers and is in the 160-190 range up and down all the time. She would definitely blab about my surgery. Where I work, gossip is like wildfire. -

I started my pre-op diet today (3 shakes/2 fruit/1 salad+protein), and started school. I had a hard time getting in my lunch time shake because there was just too much to do around the school. I ended up chugging it. I didn't get a chance to eat my evening snack (apple, pear, or orange) and my last shake yet. I am exhausted, but I think that's normal for me on the first day of school. A few people commented on my weight loss already (about 30 lbs since June). I don't like people saying things, but I guess I'll have to get used to it, right? (I hope! LOL) I didn't buy hardly any back to school outfits this year. I want to lose about 10-15 more lbs and "go shopping" in the back of my closet. LOL I have a bunch of 2x clothes hiding back there. -
Pinky, I am not yet banded, but I bet a "reboot" would do you good. Also maybe try your pre-op diet (mine is keeping to 100 carbs or less a day and the weight is falling off me like never before!). Good luck!

Helli, you have a really good attitude! Good luck!!

Two things: 1. This morning I got my pre-op supply of Protein shake from the doctor's office. Ready to go! 2. This evening I had my final hurrah. I saved all my carbs all day for Japanese hibachi shrimp and scallops. I could only eat about half because my stomach has shrunk a lot in the last month on the low carb diet. I feel stupid for having a last hurrah, but I think if I didn't I would stray sometime else down the road. ...then hubby suggested ice cream (which actually i have been dreaming of for a month) so I had a small. Now that I am home, I am going to have a bunch of Water (to ease some of the salt) and maybe I should start my pre-op diet 2 days early to compensate for the damage? I have to be on 3 weeks of shakes with one salad/protein a day plus 2 fruits (apple/pear/orange). I know I can recover from this meal. I think it's not the worst I've ever done. LOL And, I have been kicking up the exercise this week too. (I never knew I actually liked certain exercise, like biking and classes at the gym!). Good luck to those who are getting banded in recent/upcoming days. Please let's keep up this thread and stay together for support. -
