5 weeks post op: something doesn't feel quite right
PuraVida37 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi folks. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 3/26/21. I'm on stage 4 and had some ground up gyro meat for dinner last night that was a little dry, but I did OK with it. Today I feel "off". My head has a dull ache, I've had off and on dull ache in my stomach/chest, and when I took my swallow able multivitamin, the underside of my jaw hurt a little. What did I do? Is it just indigestion? Any ideas before I call my doc? Anyway, in the meantime I went back to just shakes to let my stomach calm down a bit. Thanks in advance for answering. Which hurt more? First surgery or revision to sleeve?

I'm planning to get a revision from lap band to sleeve soon. How was the pain for the sleeve compared to the lap band? Do you think because you had experience that it made any difference? -
Yes! I used to feel more of an urge lower down by my urethra, but now I just feel like my bladder is full. IDK why. I noticed it after surgery. Christina J, same frequency issues with me too, now different. I think your husband might be on to something with his theory. Also, now that I have a CPAP for sleeping, I only wake once a night to pee rather than 3 or more. So much better!

Need for tasty foods but am I moving too quickly?
PuraVida37 replied to Pilot my best self's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
EDITED: I didn't see that you are bypass. I'm sleeve. May be different. Orginal response: You are 2 weeks ahead of me, and in one week I can try "regular" (healthy) food, so I think you're doing ok. But your doc is the real expert. -
It's ok to feel emotions. Many of us food addicts would just medicate with food and suppress any kind of feelings (except eating to excess). You can be mad! Let it out!!! It's ok to mourn your loss too. Food has been a friend to me over the years, but actually I abused her and she did the same to me. Just like a real friend, cut that toxic bitc# out!!!! LOL But I think what you're feeling is perfectly normal and healthy as long as it's not interfering with your life or leading you to bad decisions.

Emotional and Stressed 5 days out

You just had major surgery!! Cut yourself some slack!! Your job for the next 4+ weeks is healing and being kind to your body. If you had heart surgery would you be feeling the same guilt? Just like something like that, you did this surgery to save your life. So let people baby you do a little while with no guilt. It is very hard on us moms because we are so used to doing for others---but now is your time to be pampered a bit. Every day really does get better. You'll be back to your independence in days. Take time to heal now though. -
Good luck! I'm sure the pre-op diet will be great for your liver. Consult with your doc if you still have questions.

Weight loss first two weeks
PuraVida37 replied to Stellagettinghergrooveback21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the 3 week stall in week 2. Stayed the same for an entire week. Now in Week 5 I'm moving down pretty well. It's not a race. Just do what they told you and slow and steady wins out. -

1 week post-op I feel very weak and out of breath
PuraVida37 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi guys, one week out from lap band revision to sleeve. I'm doing ok pain-wise, but I'm just so weak and even getting up off the couch to walk across the room makes me feel like I've sprinted. I was checked by my doctor and spent the day in the ER doing cat scans for blood clots, EKG, blood work. Everything was normal. But I am definitely not. I'm fine if I'm sitting on the couch, but moving around, even to prepare the small meals has got me exhausted. Is this normal? Is it due to taking in so few calories? What am I doing wrong? Yes, I'm taking my vitamins and meeting protein and mostly meeting liquids goals. I'm on Lovenox as a preventative for blood clots. -
One week post-op: How fast should I be eating/drinking?
PuraVida37 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm supposed to hit my protein goals of 60-80 gm and liquids goal of 64 oz. It feels like an impossible feat at this point. How fast should newbies eat/drink? (Obviously not making it uncomfortable.) And how fast can people a year out eat? What do you do to pace yourself? Thanks in advance for answering. -
1 week post-op I feel very weak and out of breath

If you could share, what did they do about it? How bad was your pain? I've been taking my temp daily out of paranoia and so far so good. I do feel even better today, thankfully, but I'm no where near 100% again. -
You can do it! You made it this far, didn't you? The beginning is the worst, I think. Distract yourself with other activities. Kon Mari your house. Do a spring cleaning (because you won't be able to immediately after surgery). Take walks in the spring air. Read some new books. Paint or draw or journal. Do whatever it takes to make a healthier you for surgery. Good luck!

I don't have intense pain in my left shoulder, but I do feel it every once in a while. I used to have pain there when I was overfull with my lapband. What were your other symptoms of leak? How did you know? Thanks @summerset You are totally right. I need to be more patient. UPDATE: I think I am actually feeling better today. I was able to eat more calories yesterday and I think that helped immensely. -
Any teachers out there?

Any teachers out there?

Just saw my surgeon this afternoon to sign my consent papers and we spoke about spring break. I asked him again if I get sleeved on March 26th would I be able to return to school on April 5th and he was like "Yes, sure, absolutely." That made me feel so much better! I'm scared but I have every confidence in his abilities and I'm excited to start my new chapter. How is everyone else doing lately? -

5 1/2 Years Post Op Observations

Yes. Thank you. I'm having a revision from band to sleeve and I agree about the part who you tell. The judgement is real from certain people, and not always who you think it will be from. And when I put on the weight again after my band didn't work for me anymore, it was heartbreaking to me--I was grateful for my privacy. -
What foods do you have to avoid with the Lapband?
PuraVida37 replied to flgirl23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just remembered another: sometimes seaweed on sushi gets stuck--probably because I didn't chew it enough? I had a TERRIBLE time with puking it back up once. The stickiness of the rice turns to glue with the moist seaweed. Avoid if possible. Maybe go for sashimi instead if you really are dying for it. -
Do you have a fever? It is normal to feel cold while losing weight. I don't think it's normal to have shivers like you describe. How long did it last? I would call your doc's office and ask the nurses there. How are you doing now?
