How fast is too fast? Speed of wt loss
PuraVida37 replied to PuraVida37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The 100 carbs or lower per day diet melted it right off. Definitely try it again! It helped me get into control of my eating--I felt like a drug addict with sugar and carbs. I've been sugar free since Aug 1st and feel better than ever. Mis, yes I am being healthy--just worried about getting my Protein and liquids in. I guess I will feel better once I move thru the stages. -

I was banded that same day too. It's going to take a while for us to get adjusted, physically and mentally. Are you feeling well enough to go for a stroll outside? It's good for you and it will put in you a better mood. Or call up a friend that you can confide in. Or just sleep. Our bodies have been through a lot! PS From what I've heard from others, we are going to have lots more time and money on our hands that we would have used for eating in the past. It's time to use that extra time for yourself, either pampering yourself or on a new hobby. What will you do with your new free time and money? (I have saved at least $30 last week from not buying my usual morning bagel. At least $40 from not stopping for fast food....I'll have to save it for new clothes and a gym membership instead!)

Just think though, your tushie will soon fit confortably into even the tightest of theater seats!

Is it possible to feel the band?
PuraVida37 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since surgery, especially after drinking, it feels like I can feel the band. Am I nuts? Is it just the tightness of it since it's likely swollen from hiatal hernia repair? Or is it gas? It's not bad pain, just discomfort. The same feeling I used to get when I ate really oily foods pre-banding. What do you all think? Eating makes it go away temporarily. I know the answer is to call the doctor (I will tomorrow morning), but til then, those who have been through the healing process, please weigh in. -

It must have been gas because I don't feel it the same way this morning. Good. -
Im having a meltdown

Glad you posted an update. You sound in much better spirits! Yay! Keep up with eating the correct foods. Getting healthy is what it's all about, right? And it's ok to let your doctor know your frustrations--they need your honesty to really get to the root of the problem to help you. -
Did you ever get answer to this? I visit Yokohama frequently and would like to know where to go in case of emergency. Thank you.

Eating too much too soon??
PuraVida37 replied to carrie.0508's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said no more than 1/4 cup food at a time. I'm not as far along as you, but I'm guessing that just because you can doesn't mean you should. Sounds like you will need a fill for sure! Good luck. -
Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Thanks! LOL It is very weird trying to figure out how this all works now. We need to re-learn everything! I think the hiccup-y feeling is when I over eat or drink too much. I think when it starts to hurt really bad, a deep empty in my throat, then I'm running on empty. Not sure, but that's my guess so far. So, I went to work today (surgery was Monday). I woke up ready to go, and all was fine til about half way through the day. I got hot flashes, pain, and felt like I was going to barf. I took 2 tylenol and my protein shake, and felt a little better, but by the end of the school day I was in agony. I drove home, which was hard. Thankfully my kind neighbor got my daughter off the bus so I could take my percocet and sleep. My husband was not happy that I had gone to work at all. I am sooo glad that I have Sat and Sunday to rest. -

I feel like I have a trapped hiccup ready to come out, but it never does. PS I am at work, but exhausted. The drive in was really bumpy. Drive with a pillow for sure. ...My students really missed me. Yay! -
Call your doc just to be sure. If you have an infection, don't play around.

I am a teacher, so I have to get up a bunch anyway. But thx for the tips. I only have to do 2 classes tomorrow. Easy peasy. Woot woot The GasX is for the farty rumbles going thru from not eating for 2 days then reintroducing food. Luckily, I don't have much other gas pain. -

Oprah Lynn, when do you see your surgeon again? If you feel something is wrong, let him know immediately. I feel better also because I stopped taking the meds and am just doing Tylenol. Much better. No drugged feeling anymore. I saw my doc today and he ripped off the steri strips. Yeeeouch! But I am healing nicely he said. Also on to stage 2 diet. No mushies til the 14th. I am going to attempt working tomorrow. It will be a light day. Doc ok'd me to do so, and to drive. Wish me luck! I figure since it is Friday, then it should be easier, and if I need Sat and Sunday, I've got'em. PS Thank goodness for Gas X. It is helping so much with the rumbling in my tummy. -

I was just feeling a little nausea after drinking some crystal light lemonade. I felt a little tight and felt like I was going to vomit from over-eating, and so I took my bra off for some comfort, and now my lower stomach is rumbling like a thunder storm. Am I just imagining things or was my bra cutting something off? Impossible, right? since the stomach is in the ribcage? PS I can't stand this percocet drug. It makes me feel stupid. lol -

Thx for the tips! I have no more gas pain, just a rumbly, tooty tummy and pretty rough pain at the belly button. Definitely just like my c section. Med is making me really sleepy. Zzzzzzzz -

What is the secret for getting out of bed? Ouchie ouchie! I used a pillow, but wowsers, such pain! Other than that, I'm all good right now. I did weigh myself out of curiosity, I gained 6 lbs in a day! What?!? Tell me again why that happens? -

Just got home. My belly hurts--that's where all my incisions are. Feels like I've been stabbed, which I guess is true in a way. I have some gas pain in my shoulders, but it's not completely horrible. But yes, it does hurt. I am supposed to sip a 2 protein shakes by the end of today. OMG it tastes sooooo good after all the bad stuff I had to drink at the hospital. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm gonna go lie down and watch Netflix now to recoup.
