The eval is a tool to check for any destructive eating behaviors and to make sure that your husband can handle the lifestyle changes. It shouldnt be bad. just answer honestly and he sould be fine.

I had a sleep study done before submitting to my insurance. I was dx with sleep apnea even though I dont stop breathing. I breath so shallow in my REM sleep that I only get 60% of the oxygen I need. Have the sleep study done. It will help to get you approval. I didnt have any comorbidities untill I was dx with sleep apnea. Good luck on your journey!

I had to have a sleep study. My dr. told me I couldnt have the surgery with out it. I was also told that I would need to bring my CPAP machine to surgery. Good luck with the CT's.

Dr. John Bagnato - H2O - Challenge
pstroud100 replied to a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Ok Im in for the challenge. I am supposed to have 160.5 ounces of water a day or with a healthy diet 128.4 ounces. I am going to aim for 100 ounces a day. I need to drink more than what I normally take in and I know that it will help in my dieting. -
There is a company called Arbonne international. I have their "puppy" and I love it. It has made my face glow. It has gotten rid of the the fine lines and crows feet at my eyes. Unfortunately it is not sold over the counter. You have to find a representative that has their product. It is a little costly but well worth it. If you are interested let me know and I can give you the name of my lady.

I would suggest you check with your insurance company. I had to meet their requirements as well as what the dr wanted. I had to do 6 months of dr controlled dieting, see a nutritionalist, plus meet their bmi requirements. Then I had to do the seminar, see the specialist who then sent me for sleep study, cardiologist, and pulmonolgist.. I also had to have a whole bunch of lab testing done. I am almost done with the 6 months so hopefully I will have my surgery in November. I know that I will still have to have the preop lab testing and all that done. Sounds like a alot but everything is happening so quickly that my day will be here before I know it. -
OK So last night I went for my sleep study. I personally never had any trouble sleeping and I dont show any symptoms of sleep apnea. Well, I was floored today when they called me this afternoon and said that I needed to be on a CPAP machine. I am very concerned. I dont want this to hinder my surgery process in any way. I am scared to death now. I dont want to be on this machine the rest of my life. Any advice?

The diet is required by my insurance. It has to be dr directed. I am on a low carb/ calorie counting diet. It hasnt been too hard to follow but I need better portion control. The hardest part is cutting out the rice and sweets. Otherwise, I think I have lost about 10 lbs but my offical weight in is next thursday. Wish me luck!!! -
Hello from South Carolina

Hello Everyone! I am hoping to be banded in NOV. I am going thru Riverside surgical in lexington. They are the only doctors in columbia that are covered by my insurance. I have to complete 6 months of supervised diet before I can even apply for approval for insurance. Oh by the way I live in Newberry SC. I did not realize all the steps you have to go through to be banded. I have had a psych eval, orinatation, diet counseling, sleep study ( which I failed), and now I need cardiac clearence and to see a pulmonologist. I will have my out of pocket met before I have my surgery. The closer I get the more scared I get. -
Hey, I was told by my doctor that if I had a BMI of 50 or better that he would not do the lap band on me. I was right on the edge. My BMI was 49. I am not sure why he didnt explain it to me. I have seen people on here talk about having to lose weight before they could be banded. Maybe some of them can offer words of wisdom.

Dear Di, I wish that you were close to me. I would happily take you to and from your surgery. I think that what your sons are doing is cruel and uncalled for. I hope that you remind that you are the one who brought them in the world and they should respect you and any decision that you make. My sister is also doing the same things that your sons are. She hasnt changed my mind and they shouldnt change yours. I hope that even though she doesnt support me now that she will support me later when she sees the results. Good luck on your journey and dont give up!

Hello, I too am on Cigna insurance. Before I even started my process I contacted cigna and printed out their requirements. Then I actually spoke to someone on the phone. I dont know about ya'll but they told me that I had to see one of their approved drs. They even wanted to know my zip code so that they could tell me the drs in my area that I could see. I hope that it helps you. I certainly dont want to go through all of their steps just to have to start all over again. Good Luck on your journey. Page

I am sooooo mad right now! I just got off the phone with my sister who tells me that I just need to diet. I dont need surgery. I have been big all my life. Every diet I have tried I have lost and then gained it all back plus some. How is it that everyone else thinks it is just so easy to diet? She is overweight and diabetic. I do not want to ever have diabetes. Why cant they be just be happy with my decision to change? Any words of wisdom to help make them understand?:drool::eek: -
3 months post op and insurance has now decided they won't pay!!! I now owe 54,000.00

If you are unable to get the hospital working on this tomorrow then I would take matters into my own hands. Go up there and get detailed copies of your bills that have not been paid. Also get your medical records. Call your insurance and get someone on the phone who can tell you what is missing and ask them how you can get the information to them. Include all the prior auth numbers that you have. In the mean time talk to the hospital, set up some type of payment arrangements. Make them aware that according to the insurance them not getting a payment is thier fault and you working to help them. Hang in there. I know that this is a struggle but you can do this! -
My psych eval was very basic. She talked with my about my family history and really focused on my eating habits. Basically she is there to assure that there is no underlying eating disorders. There were two points that she stressed to me. 1. From now on i am no longer dieting. I am choosing a healthier life style. and 2. between each bite of food I eat, I need to put the fork down, sit back in my chair and chew chew chew. She also made another good point. I need to focus on why I feel I am hungry. Is it my stomach or my mind. If it is my mind why? am I borded, stressed, tired, or sad. She told me that I need to focus on determining if I am really hungry or if it is a mind game. With all this info. she has approved me for surgery and now I am waiting out my six months of diet counseling to be over so I can be banded. Good Luck in your journey and dont worry You will do fine.

I have used the seasonale and it worked fine for me. I never had any problems and my gyno guy was supportive of it because it was a low dose. I got off the pill in december with the hopes of having a baby. I have had a period every month since being off it. Talk to your doctor about your options. What works for some may not work for others. Good Luck!

UUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! Non supportive family
pstroud100 replied to pstroud100's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soooo I had my psych appointment for surgical clearence on thursday. I was asked how my family was doing with my decison to do the surgery. I told her about my sister and she was not surprised. She told me that she will come around in time. I am not so sure. I hope so. I tried to talk to again last night and she said that she cannot support me through the surgery. I told her that it was OK. When I lost all my weight she could have all my fat clothes. She was not so happy with that but it shut her up. I am no longer going to worry about her. I am doing this for me and me alone. If my family cant see whats important to me then I am not important to them. Good luck on everyones journey. I cant wait until my surgery.... the doctor is saying the end of NOV- First of DEC. I am aiming for the middle of NOV. Wish me luck! -
Really Personal Question - TMI - Incontinence?
pstroud100 replied to Nikkoli110's topic in The Gals' Room
Have you ever tried cagle exercises? The best way I learned to do it is while you are going make your self stop and start again. It will built up the muscle down there. There are medications that you can try but they are a shot in the dark as to which one will work for you. My best friend had this problem and she is the one who taught me the cagle exercises. Good luck! -

I just thought that she, out of all of my family, would understand. Its OK that its not her path of weight loss but dont choose mine for me. I really want to thank all of you. I love the support I get from here and confirms that YES I am making the right decision for me. -

2 Questions: Weight Limit and Location
pstroud100 replied to SierrasMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Although I am still going thru the steps for banding, I have already began my life change. My doctor requires that I do a 4 week low carb diet before I have the surgery to shrink my liver. I have also began working out. I would like to show that I am willing to do whatever it takes to make that change. I hope that this info helps you. Good luck in your journey. Page -
How do you hide it?
pstroud100 replied to peaches76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The idea of who to tell and who not to tell is a big decision. I have not hid the fact that I am going through the steps of surgery to any one. However, I have had both good and bad looks given to me. My dad and sisters tell me to "just push myself away from the table". My mom, husband, and inlaws are fully supportive. I have not let the negative comments sway my judgement on having surgery. NOBODY knows what I have been through. I know that when I made my mind up to lose weight and become healthy it was a life changing event and I am not looking back. I am ready for surgery. If you want the surgery and you are ready for that lifestyle change then dont worry about what others may think about you. In the end your happiness and health is the only thing that matters. I wish you well in your journey. Page -
