I felt the same way as you did. I love coffee. I was sleeved on December 7. I decided to have my first cup of coffee on January 3. It was decaffeinated but it tasted horrible to me. I absolutely have no taste for coffee anymore. My doctor advised me to stay away from caffeinated beverages for three months after my surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Maybe Soup or soft veggies. I would pack some cottage cheese, maybe a yogurt or other small containers of soft foods. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I took off 4weeks. So glad I did because exhaustion is very real. Eating and drinking was hard for me so being home was perfect. I would suggest at least 3wks to let your body start to heal. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Kmccusker127 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all. I am 4wks post op and doing well. I am curious to when people start adding fresh fruits into their diet. I am craving apples and start back to work on the 9th of Jan. I would like to meal prep and want to add apples, cottage cheese and other Protein for lunch. Please let me know when you added apples etc and how your body handled it. Thanks, Karen -
Hello. I was sleeved on 12/7 and I barely get in 36 oz of fluids in because of being nauseated. I cannot drink Water because it bothers my stomach so bad. I have tried bottled water with a little lemon juice and it seems to be working better. But I'm in the same boat is you not being able to get as many fluids in his the doctor stated. But friends tell me that had this surgery that it's normal and that you will work up to getting your fluids. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi. I am three weeks postop from sleeve surgery I have no problem drinking broth and drinking coffee. My problem is drinking Water. Every time I drink water it seems to upset my stomach and I seem to get sick. Does anyone else have these issues? If so what do you drink? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi. I don't think the calories matter as much as getting enough Protein and enough fluids. My doctor stated that he wanted to be on a 1000 cal per day diet for at least three weeks after surgery. Hope this helps ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you Teaqueen. Today has been much better. I switched from Omeprazole to Nexium and so far so good today. I made a homemade stock that has been cooking for 8hrs. Looking forward to having that tmrw. I started keeping a journal of everything I eat and what does and does not aggravate my stomach. Not chancing it by lying down at all after I eat or drink to minimize GERD. Thank you for your response. -Karen

Hello. I am three weeks out of surgery and felt the same way as you. I know exactly how you feel. But trust me stick with the basics for the first two weeks then go to puréed and then to mushy foods. Remember your stomach is still healing and if you rush things you make it Gerd. Which is very debilitating and very painful. So again I suggest you go with the path of basics puréed than mushy. Thank you sleeveisa from Florida. I just sent a message to my Dr. and asked if he could prescribe liquid Calfatrate. I read on the forum that this seems to help people better than the pills. Will wait for him to respond. But for now I am back to basics, homemade broth, cream of wheat, yogurt etc... Thank you again !

Hello all. I was sleeved on Dec 7th I was doing great until about 2days ago I started experiencing GERD. I am on a PPI but I am not having relief. I never had GERD before but this pain. Rings me to tears. I am not getting my protein nor my fluids. Having a hard time drinking plain water. Having a lot of regurgitation. Trying to sit up after I eat and when I lay down. Was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions on relief. What should I drink? What should I eat that will help?
