For the majority of my life, I have been yo-yo dieting, dealing with a poor self image and low self esteem. Now that I've gotten older (40 in November), I have also been battling type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, high cholesterol, asthma, chronic anemia and hypothyroidism to name a few. That's a lot, I know. And as a former cheerleader, model, singer, actress and dancer this has all been very overwhelming for me to deal with. Like many Americans, I figured I would just have to take the medications prescribed and deal with it for the rest of my life. But that's just not acceptable for me. For one...I absolutely HATE pill popping. I really do, I hate it with a passion. And not only that but, 39 years old is pretty young in my book. well, maybe not to my 12 1/2 year old daughter but, to me it is. I am finally at a place in my life where the young stupid things I did in my 20's and still trying to maintain my 20's status in my early/mid thirties is completely behind me. I am finally at a place where life is starting to make sense to me, where it has true meaning. I am more grounded as an individual now. More stable. More focused. Not only as an individual but, also as a woman, daughter and mother. Some may see 39 1/2 years old as "over the hill" but, I see and feel it is just the beginning. The beginning of me loving myself, taking better care of myself, setting healthy boundaries and enjoying life to the fullest. I plan on being here on this earth for a very long time. One of my spiritual father's always says, "When you live on purpose, you won't die by accident". That is my life motto. and having the Lap Band surgery is just the rocket fuel I need to blast off. This is just the beginning. And this is my new day! :)
