  1. Sometimes I get discouraged because I miss getting to just relax and enjoy a meal... I posted this blog today about it. http://www.debbiedanthony.com/fighting-with-my-food/ I would love to know if anyone else feels the same way sometimes and how you get past it?

Fighting your food! Getting tired of it?

That could be part of my problem. I'm not much of a cook and I have a skinny fiance who doesn't need to diet so cooking at night something where we both can eat without either of us being put out is what I am struggling with... Luckily he likes fish and chicken but he also loves all dishes with Pasta so I am cooking things like spaghetti and only eating the sauce with some veggies. But at my support group last night I was reminded that I am still new at this and it will come with time. I will continue to try to learn new ways to prepare our meals... a forum feed for recipes here is a great idea for us newbies!!

The microwave is my best friend! LOL It might be just me and maybe I overheat my food but microwaved foods seem too dry and won't go down for me... I have to be very careful with anything I've put in the microwave

Yes, we live outside Las Vegas and this is a 3rd wedding for both of us so we are keeping in small..45 people. Vegas Wedding chapel with a cake cutting at a suite at Alexis Park Resort across from the Hard Rock Hotel. We have the suite for 3 days (it has a hot tub!) then we leave for the honeymoon. Our wedding can be watched on-line also for anyone interested. And I will post some pics once I return

Congrats!!!!! I live about 2 hrs southwest of Orlando. Have a timeshare at Bonnet Creek on Disney properties but Disney doesn't own the land. Anyhow have a great time you going to Disney world? Have soooo much fun!!! Again have a romantic stay. Yes, we have a 3-day park hopper for Disney world parks. Also going to spend 1 day at Universal Studios then 1 day driving up to St. Augustine and to visit and uncle I have that lives there. I'm very excited. Wanted to do the Discovery Cove but it's too much $$. My son and his wife just came back from there for their 10th wedding anniversary and LOVED it!! My boyfriend has a friend with a time share in Orlando - that's where we are staying. If you can hook me up with free Discovery Cove tickets I will do the same for you if you come to Las Vegas...lol

Fighting your food! Getting tired of it?

I don't often read the external blogs people post, but did read yours. I suppose the title caught my eye. And I'm glad I did! Very well written! I'll offer a couple suggestions/replies to your quotes. " Every meal now seems like a chore and I’m starting to dread mealtime…" I'm guessing PART of the reason you feel this way is you're only 4 1/2 months post banding. For me it just got "normal"....after some period of time. "I will remind myself daily that this is a process that will help me learn to live a healthier life" YES THIS! There is no end date, no finish line, its our new life.... "And, I’m hoping in time, I will get used to this new lifestyle" YOU WILL! Best wishes! Thank you for reading my post and for the compliment!! I really only write something when I feel I have something to share that may help someone else looking into this or help me understand better what I am going through.. And the feedback I get from everyone is priceless! There is no better therapy or encouragement in the world than this group of people!!

Thank you for the compliment! It would be great if you would comment on the blog so my other readers can get feedback from someone who's really been there and made it thru to the other side...if you get time that is?

I am also hoping to be down 60 lbs at my 1 yr bandiversary! that's still a whole child you've lost in weight...think about things that weigh that much... -One of my grandkids holding an 8 lb dumbell -The average sized Husky - 240 sticks of butter - 3 of J-Lo's butt - 120 smurfs - 640 oreos - 3 spare tires - 7.5 human heads - 40 dozen eggs - 8 gallons of Water - 4 Thankgiving Turkeys - a bushel of wheat Ok..I may be going overboard but you get the idea Try carrying any of those items around for a day and remember you used to do it every day!

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

You are losing! Just remember every pound lost is gone forever! This is not a sprint but a lifetime marathon to being healthier! You will get there. Reminder: try to cut out the snacks as much as possible. You will find this easier as you get closer to your "Green Zone". Go back to the basics if you have to - 3 small meals a day and 1 snack. 64 oz of water I have to remind myself every day to get enough water. Usually when I feel like snacking, water does the trick to curb the snack attack. A protein bar in the afternoon is my only snack now and it does a great job of curbing hunger until dinner. Sometimes I have it as an early 11am snack and have a later lunch if I feel like snacking...that also works. Good luck with your journey!
  17. I did the same thing...had surgery on Friday - went back to work on Monday but ended up needing that Wednesday off for rest. It just seemed I felt tired... You can read what I wrote about my post surgery on my blog @ http://www.debbiedanthony.com/back-to-work-after-lap-band/ Let me know what you think and if this helps

    first fill

I wrote on my blog about my 1st fill with the fluoroscopy...you can read it here... http://www.debbiedanthony.com/my-1st-lap-band-fill/ it really isn't that bad. I've had 5 fills now and it's a cake-walk and I'm a big baby when it comes to needles!!
  19. NewMeDebbie

    Another Fill after 3 weeks?

Everyone is different but for me it has taken 5 fills (mostly every 4 weeks) to get to green and I had to insist 2 days after my 4th that I felt no different before he gave me the proper fill to really get me there. If your doctor is conservative like mine and it takes you a few fills to get to green expect it to take a few months before you really notice your band holding up it's end of the deal. Until then, you will continue to feel like you are dieting and must do most the work... This is known as "Bandsters Hell". However, it doesn't last forever and you will get there! I was beginning to believe I would be the one who failed but now I know I just needed to be patient. It never hurts to call and ask your doctor but this is also a time for you to get used to the new restriction and learn what you can and can't eat at this point without "renting your meals" lol Best advise I could give is wait it out this time...you will get more familiar with your body with each fill and will know when you are ready for another. Ask your doctor at your next visit if you could schedule at 4 weeks instead of 6

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Well I am now convinced my body just loses weight funny. I have literally weighed the EXACT same for the past 3 days! not an ounce different. Only eating 1200 calories and walking 2 miles a day and that scale doesn't want to budge! Funny thing is that it really doesn't bother me now because I know it will eventually. It seems I go for a couple weeks with little change and then I just drop 4-7 lbs overnight!! It makes no sense but I am starting to understand my body better now and I will take what I can get!! And I still notice the NSV differences in my clothes and the way I feel. I can now walk longer with less effort and no heavin and hoein...lol

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Don't worry Georgia, I've only lost 20 lbs. We will get there too... Just takes longer for some people This is not a race but a marathon....lol
  24. Also, remember...you can't judge your weight loss against someone else's. That person's weight, height, and other physiology is different from yours from the start. Everyone's journey will be different so you will lose at different rates. The more weight you have to lose, the faster it will come off in the beginning. Don't beat yourself up. You are doing fabulous! Just wait until this time next year, you won't even remember the person you are now... And these crazy fears will seem so silly then
